I'm talking about that video that thing looks killer. Are we allowed to see how it works?

That one was inspired by the open airflow of the Showerhead which was one of my favorites, but I added an improvement to promote more turbulent mixing.

It sits directly onto 19mm male glass adapters for easy sourcing of bowls.
You can either run it with a basket screen in the bowl for small dose hybrid heating, or with a screen further down at the bottom of the male joint for nearly pure convection and larger amounts. It's pretty versatile!

I sent one to Vgoodiez who made a vid on it. I actually sent him a message the other day wondering if he's still using it, but I haven't seen him around in a while. I never made a thread on it though so it didn't get posted here on FC. InV2 is different but uses concepts learned from that project. I ended up not really loving the male joint as a bowl.

I think the mods would remove the “Discontinued” tag if you asked, especially if you’re working on a new version.

It’s still even in upcoming/unreleased, so no need to rush to discontinued!

Yeah I mean the original InV2 concept was designed in 2020!

Maybe it would be better as a new thread though since it's not a ball vape, IDK!

If I didn't have issues getting glass parts right now, I had even considered doing an internally heated 1.5 using the classic log vape resistor as a heater, sort of like a desktop/injector take on the G43 / mini Glass Symphony. But there's enough similar stuff out now to probably just pursue new ideas.

I don’t know which of your ideas is the best/most manufacturable/etc. but eventually I’ve gotta’ get a chance to try at least one of them!

As for starting a new thread vs staying here though, a clean start with something new might be nice, but everyone watching this thread would have to notice and make their way over there, so it’s a mixed bag…

Hey, so I'm trying to do something like this or a titi but I can't find a reasonably prices smaller coil for my MiniNail brand enail box. Its minixlr. I don't know the pin out.

I know you've been waiting for a 1.7 for a long time as well so I'm definitely sorry I don't have more to send out right now, because I really would have liked to hear your feedback on it.

The funny thing about InV2 is I was always trying to make it out of glass also, that's why it never got released. Otherwise it probably would have been completed a long time ago too lol.

I'm not really sure which of my ideas are the best either, it’s pretty hard to gauge, maybe Reddit is better for that instant feedback? But as far as manufacturability, after almost finishing this model I thought of a much easier way to make this new part. I’m kind of stoked on it, because one thing I definitely learned from this experience is it doesn’t matter how good your idea is if it can’t be made; or even just built for a realistic price.

Also, I mentioned this some time ago in here, probably even on multiple occasions, but I’m again considering making this new injector compatible with 14mm bowls and would be interested in hearing others thoughts on this. My thoughts are that most people probably prefer smaller bowls, either for economics, efficiency, smoothness, etc? Realistically you could probably still load .2-.25g even in a 14mm and loading much more than that with decently resinous herb takes too many successive inhalations, or requires too high of a temperature to really crush quickly for a one-two hit snap experience.

I think there are upsides and downsides to using a wide shallow bowl vs a narrow and deeper bowl, but what’s more important is how well either one gets extracted.

I actually like both slower extraction over 5-10+ draws or fast extraction in 1-3 or so, but either way ideally I don’t want it to end up tasting bad before it’s pretty fully extracted.

To me the worst is an attempt at fast extraction of a deep bowl when the heater isn’t capable of extracting the whole bowl before it destroys the top surface.

Like if you take one or two hits and the top layer is almost black but there’s still a lot left below it…some people seem fine with it, but to me that sucks.

I hope that’s somewhat helpful in deciding which direction to go?

Maybe other people will let us all know what they prefer? :sherlock:

Yeah @invertedisdead, I think if your next new/old idea is a different concept then it deserves and needs a new thread. InVerzion 1-1.777 deserves to be its own thing, it’s a unique idea in a sea of sameness. That’s why I wanted to buy it & try it, dammit

I’m honestly baffled that these glass companies don’t communicate and hit targets, but stay in business! But if you can’t find a manufacturer to supply the housing reliably, it’s dead in the water. I just wish I’d come back here sooner with ideas & energy before you were so frustrated and kinda done with it. I mean, page 49 alone is a rollercoaster of emotion. I wish that I’d been around to give you some meaningful feedback!

Maybe also have a thread somewhere where all your vaporisation ideas, knowledge & plans can gestate and percolate, at least as much as you want to share publicly. Honestly, to have all that in one spot would be a valuable FF resource for real. But once a concept gains enough traction and might actually be produced on a scale where it can be purchased by the general public, it should get its own thread here. Just my :2c:

My 1.7 arrived a few days ago, have not had a chance to try it yet due to some health + life issues that came up but I'm super impressed by the design in person! Very positive first impressions upon delivery just visually and a much needed mood boost at a time i needed it.

From my testing, I think the 14mm is a good balance; the 10mm bowl is a bit small, though I think a lot of people would like it.

Still, I keep thinking that the 18mm Injector paired with something like the 18-14mm reducer bowl that @seki posted would probably accomplish pretty much the same thing as a 14mm InV; while also allowing for loading even more herb if desired.

I think the problem is so many businesses have closed in the last ~2.5 years that the ones left are now busier than ever from the concentration of industry.

With a finite limited amount of time in the day, small batch prototyping is probably less enticing for the glass shops to take on than some larger more rewarding opportunity.

Would still like to do some more 1.7s at some point with my new airflow upgrade but I’m annoyed with looking for a builder right now. Gonna try a few new projects that don’t need such hands on fabrication to finish, but I still love my glass desktop and would like to have it in the lineup still, as the sparkly clean and pure flavor is hard to beat for me and it’s still my favorite vape thus far!

I can remove the tag if you want @invertedisdead, just let me know.

:peace:

Well this thread does have quite the cozy feel!

When I get this new design ordered and broke in maybe we’ll open it back up again in the near future. That gives me something to work towards to prove that I’m not (completely) dead yet!

Thanks a lot

Thanks so much for those nice thoughts, that’s awesome to hear! I hope you’re doing better and your heart and head is in the right place.

Take care friend and let us know how it works out when you have time to try it! Can’t believe how fast time is flying here, don’t know how it’s already been a week since my last post, the days are just merging into each other.

What size screen goes on the bottom of that 1.7 housing. I was lucky enough to snag that extra one. (Thank you @seki)

That’s awesome! It uses a 5/8” screen underneath a domed 3/4” screen. To make the domed screen you can just bend it around a 14mm male joint.

Why two screens? Is it an airflow thing?

It’s just extra secure that way and how I’ve been doing it for a while, but you could just use one screen if you felt comfortable with it.

One more question. 16mm or 15.8mm coil? It's auber if that matters

In theory 16mm is the right size, but some members were able to use that 15.8 Auber as well so it’s kind of hard to say as there is some variation amongst the housings due to the hand worked nature of glassblowing.

I’d probably go for the DC or 710coils. I think the 710coils has a longer lead cable which is kind of nice in my opinion; at least my 20mm and 25mm do.

What temp do you usually set the quartz at? I have it at 550 but I think I can go higher. I have 3mm rubies in there

Probably around 500F but it depends on a few variables.

- amount of material loaded
- inhale rate
- the amount of drag in your water pipe
- desired roast color

At the optimum flow rate you will hear the turbulence as air chases through the bead maze. But you can hit it slower if you want, you just might have to adjust the temp to reach your end goal, I don’t think I ever ran any higher than 600F. 450-550 is probably the main usable range but you can go up a bit for one hitters or if your material is further from the heat source.

Also the distance your herb is from the heater makes a big difference in set point, I usually run a screen towards the bottom of the 19/22 adapter/bowl which puts the material closer to the heat.

I usually use 4MM beads myself which increases the turbulence a bit; but both work great.

I settled at 515 with my quartz one. I felt I could have gone lower and tried a few times but this was my sweet spot.

That sounds right to me!

I slapped one of my 20MM 1.5‘s together with 4MM sapphires and that’s what I’m rocking right now while I try to polish up some new stuff!

And it shattered while fixing the coil. It was sliding out while hot so I had to remove cold and tighten. I squeezed too hard while removing it :(

Sucks to hear, especially after getting a glimpse of what it could do. The 1.7 is unfortunately kinda finicky to setup, once its on it usually stays put, but that initial setup is a bit tricky. One of my main concerns has been the thought of them breaking on the same day someone gets it. I hope to return to some of my glass ideas when I can afford to make them exactly how I want to.

In the mean time, here is the new Impeller, a high surface area injector for 16MM coils and 14MM glass adapters.
