Well...my friend wasn't wrong. This hydratube hits smooooooth! Compared to my OG Turbine, it's smaller in diameter but slightly taller. The mouthpiece is narrow--like pinky diameter. It's at most half the weight. My OG piece is a tank, though; I assumed 5mm was being boasted because it was thick/heavy glass but this is average thickness in glass. Not the cheap stuff in a mall/boardwalk headshop but not a massive lump of boro, either.

That's the comparison but by no means intended to be conveying poor quality. The glass is nicely blown. I don't see anything that is crooked or questionable seams. If this fits the Petra tightly, though, I don't know how an OG tube like mine will fit. Used on an EVO it's best to plan on holding the EVO in one's lap because I had to stand with it on the desk.

Thankfully Ricardo finally got back to me, and as I originally was hoping it was just a case of him not receiving my emails while he was traveling. He assured me that they have the funds in place to produce the units that have already been sold (which was my only real concern) when it was mentioned here that they only sold 100 +/- and we should see them in February. He's also sending us the Hydratubes this week. I'm pretty comfortable now as he directly answered all of my concerns.

This is great to know. I got the email today advertising this tube and ordered one straight off. I have one of the earlier tubes from them but not any of the OGs. I forget which one it is. I actually use my whip more (for dry herb) cause like you, I prefer to use it from on the desk where it sits securely in the tray that they sell as accessory. But for concentrate I do prefer an all glass experience. I too also like a vent tube so I’m not leaning over the desk but the piece looked like such quality, it’ll be a nice addition to my collection. Great to know it works so well for you. Hope mine comes before Christmas cause I got a solid 2 weeks off to bless the new arrival.

Some shower thoughts... perhaps VapeXhale could do a little more to distinguish the Petra from the EVO :shrug:. One easy thing they can do is increase the heater power more since the Petra is larger and has better heat dissipation. That would be cool. The EVO has the most powerful heater I'm aware of in an electronic vaporizer, it's rated at 250 watts but measurements show the heater is throttled back in the EVO to 100 watts at max. Imagine VapeXhale bumping the Petra heater output to 150 watts. Fwiw, 100 watts in the EVO is the same power rating that comes with the Flowerpot and related PIDs (that most everyone uses). Many other electronic vapes have power ratings <100 watts.

Thx for all the internet sleuths contributing. Sounds like the Petra is going to be a rare vape.

Easier said than done to increase power by 50% and maintain reliability and what would be the gain, maybe faster heat up. It can already combust hash easily, more heat at least 50% more wouldn’t be high on a priority list of updates imo. Maybe user replaceable heater like a Arizer Q even though I’ve never had a problem a few people have and need to send it in.

The EVO heater is already spec'd and rated to run at 250 watts max so I already expect it to be reliable. With the improved hot air management of a larger Petra vape design, it all "could" work and be nearly plug & play. And that added heater power would help address slow heat soak with the EVO, which affects performance (& is coming from the very nature of using glass to isolate a clean convective heat airpath).

OTOH, what the additional heat and power would do to the bamboo glass over the long term....??? :shrug:. I still think it would be nice to get some added performance and faster heat up time with more power in the big Petra if it's possible.

I don't care about the heat soak myself with the EVO and could adjust settings/timings if I wanted to to hyper account for that. Regardless, EVO owners will settle in to a routine that's enjoyable, optimized and feels second nature. And the Petra will reflect much of that EVO performance and excellence. I look forward to hearing from Petra owners when units roll out. Keep us in the loop and enjoy.

Maybe we shouldnt focus on the "heater rated up to X Watts" and instead focus on the "heater will use X Watts during regular use" or just plain old "how quick is it to extract X Grams" efficiency comparisons? Like you could downsize this heater substantially and probably get better results if you "just" triple the glass surface that the air has to pass before it hits the herb, since its "just" a simple glass tube in the evo/petra iirc.

Both are super satisfying! Hard to compare as apples to oranges because FP experience depends on the glass that you use with it. My glass options are somewhat limited in favor of a little more discretion. Meaning I try to only bring out my big beautiful glass pieces and FP once in a while when I have company or know I won’t be walked in on. Evo on the other hand sits inconspicuously on my desk til ready to sip from. I use it with a whip that I keep in a box beside it. So it gets much more use. In terms of vapor quality Evo gets a slight edge for me and that edge is in terms of taste. But in fairness, probably not the fault of the FP. Could more likely be the perk I’m using on the water piece that I use with my FP
Absolutely agreed on pure taste. And yes I think it's due to the glass airpath vs all that titanium to be honest. I love both vapes but I have to agree on this. If I was going to have a friend try vaping for the first time, I'd rather pull out the EVO (in terms of pure favor) than the FP! :tup:

Looks awesome, got that email too but decided on waiting on it after buying two American Made glass pieces earlier this year. I love the Branding but I have to ask.. what's the height?

Thanks so much for this side by side comparison! I'm pretty sure this is why VXL said the Swiss Honey comb wouldn't fit in the Petra. I'm assuming the base is the same size as the classic hydtratubes? Your Hydrabomb on the far right is a precision HT.. yes? If so, It matches up to the Hanu Crown Hydra Tree's base almost to a tee a seems.

To everyone else: I still haven't heard back from them. I think it was the 11th when I emailed them... I gotta see more detailed pics of that whole stand they created and really wanted to hear more about the improvements.

I didn't make a preorder but I do feel your pain with them since the transition. I still haven't heard back from them with my questions on the Evo Petra since around Dec 11th. However they did mess up my order for a hydrafoot, some hose, 4 baskets and a T shirt. Well the XXL black T shirt wasn't included in the order and it took them nearly 7 days to get back to me on this alone. When they did get back to me telling me they were going to credit my CC the amount for the missing T shirt it was a very generic response.. Not the kind of response I'm used to getting from this company.

I asked them why the T shirts were showing "In stock" status and to please contact me when they are. This is the response I got:

It took them like 3 weeks to get back to me when I tried to cancel. When they did it was generic and a copy of what another fc member received. They offered me 30 off next order but totally ignored anything else specific that I asked. It was really weird and unprofessional. Like a shrug off and threatened with a 45 delay on refund take discount and shut up lol. So I am waiting for Feb 15th if not I am definitely getting refund asap.

I just can't get over the fact I asked them if the T shirts were in stock and their only answer to me was, "We are unable to fulfill at this time." I immediately checked the merchandise store again and sure enough there is NO MENTION of them being out of stock.. Not even the color and size I ordered! :cuss: I mean pardon my language but what the fuck VXL? It's as if you fucked up my order by sending everything into a 5x5 box so you didn't have to include the T shirt or something? It pisses me off even more when I visited xhl3.com today and still see that my Black Vapexhale XXL T shirt still shows fucking in stock!!!:mad: I had an event to go to that weekend and I really wanted to wear that shirt to. Why in the blue fuck do they still say in stock?

In the end, my refund for the shirt was posted to my CC online statement but I ended up buying me a Volcano and Cannabis Hardware T instead with my Volcano and Baller B2 heads! Thank god for that stimulus check!:cheers:

They told me it could take up to 120 days. I just received an update on Feb 1st that they have reversed the transaction after not hearing back from XHL. XHL has 30 days to respond or the credit will become permanent.

Something seems really off here. Hope the preorders go through for everyone and you have better luck.

feels like the writing on the wall here is looking pretty bad for hanu labs

their customer service is nonexistent at this point. I emailed them a couple weeks ago asking if they were going to restock one of their hydrotubes and never got a response either. the vapexhale website is out of stock on most items and the order i did place with them recently took them quite a while to process and ship. if i had to guess there's maybe one or two people actively working at the company right now, probably doing all the shipping, processing, etc. themselves, and apparently deciding that they are too busy or don't care to respond to any customer emails

yo good looks on posting this. the swiss honeycomb was actually the hydrotube i was emailing them about. just ordered it off VGoodiEZ for the same price that a factory seconds version would have cost from vapexhale :rockon:faster shipping too lol

yes I'm with you on this, very much want to see hanu labs succeed and continue on, just very concerned with all the signs I have been seeing over the past few months.

it appears that as of this morning the petra has been removed from the hanu labs website as well as the vapexhale website. if you try to go to the pre-order page it brings up a 404 error on both sites. seeing as how there has been no communication from hanu labs in over 2 months now its seems the project has been killed off?
