So I just bought an Oculus Quest: it gets here Wednesday. Shirley, there are cheesy games that I'm capable of playing. There must be games for DLM (Dorks Like Me). I had a subscription to NYT once, and they had VR through a cardboard/phone setup that was truly amazing. I hope this has stuff like that, too.

Tons of great games for those not looking to blow up Nazis... Lots of great puzzler and escape room type games, real brainy stuff that you have to think your way out of.

If there is a way to fuck things up, I find that way and magnify it. So I received my Quest 2, but you have to have a Facebook account. Being that I'm a misanthrope, I created one but went crazy on the privacy: I don't really want to chat with family, etc. To make a long story short, I can't log into my oculus account, and it won't let me reset my oculus password. All oculus content is unavailable.

So I'm waiting for a response from Support. They estimate 48 hrs response time. I'm considering deleting Facebook, resetting Oculus device to factory, and re-install everything using a different email/account. I'm glad I'm computer literate; this would drive a computer newbie to drugs (eh, Yay?).

Meanwhile, I can side-load stuff, but I have no games, but movie files look great. "Free Guy" is a no-brainer. And the tutorials are fun.

First of all, I'm thrilled another FC member made the leap into VR. I'm pissed I only had a headset for a minority of the past two years. Sure would've come in handy.

The Facebook shit is infuriating though. Like you, I didn't have a personal FB account. I made one. Locked down the privacy settings. And added one post to the timeline:

"Attention Facebook Moderators: I only created this account because it was required to use my Oculus headset. I have no intention of using it for anything else. If you have any concerns, please reach out to me before taking any action on this account."

I've had no problems with it for the last 8-9 months. So it's odd that you doing basically the same thing fucked everything up. Hopefully support gets back to you soon. In my experience their support kind of sucks. It took me an entire week to add a credit card to my account. I had to send daily tickets saying things like "LET ME GIVE YOU MONEY!" before it was resolved.

I also sort of remember hearing that a FB login would no longer be required, with their conversion to "Meta". But I guess that's wrong.

In the meantime, have you checked out the apps on SideQuest? There's some pretty good content there.

I'm back on the Oculus trail again. I've downloaded and installed the PC app and I've even made a successful purchase. I'm all aglow in geeky goodness. Because I'm not at home, and I'm using (relatively) slow public WiFi, I can't avail myself to the whole enchilada yet, but there is so much free VR natural stuff out there I don't feel cheated (yet) but may break down and buy a fast hot spot. And like Florduh mentions you can side-load lots of stuff.

A friend of mine is big into this, VR, chair, steering wheel, whole shebang. They have a league, events. I found it to be difficult as well, harder than driving a real racecar (maybe that's why I struggled?).

I've been playing "Unturned" on PC through Steam. Simple zombie survival, free, runs on most computers. Flying around in a helicopter and building bases has kept me occupied in game. Would defintiely recommend if you're into those sorts of games.

Been playing It Takes Two online co-op with a friend. Amazing game. One of the best co-op experiences I’ve ever had.

Since we have a few Quest-heads in here: Doom 3 is currently like $1.50 on Steam. There is a free mod that lets you play it natively on the Quest, with full motion controller support.

Finally picked up Celeste for $5 on the PS Store. Wow. This game is incredible! Super tight platforming that’s challenging but not frustratingly so. The music is really good too. Awesome atmosphere with a surprisingly emotional story. A real winner. Can’t believe I slept on this game for so long (it’s from 2018).

Have you heard about the boom on Mizar 5?
If anyone is on PC and wants to play something diffrent, I've been playing alot of Hardspace: Shipbreaker.

It's def still in early access but is quite polished compared to a few years ago and it is already a ton of fun ripping apart space ships.

Holy shit, how did I miss this? Hitman 3 is coming to Steam and Game Pass in less than a week. And it has been remastered to include a PCVR mode! Not only that, but the first two titles have been improved to Hitman 3 standards.


LOL, I love all the dev's Danish accents.

For Oculus users who just want an interesting puzzle game, there is "Puzzling Places", a 3-D jigsaw puzzle game where you decide how many pieces are in the puzzle (25 pieces up to 400). The game features 16 unique puzzles created from detailed photogrammetry 3D scans of real locations. They show you 2-D views of the 3-D puzzle, and you attempt to assemble the 3-D pieces into a completed 3-D object.

I've been on a tear with Liberty Puzzles the last few years. They are expensive as fuck, but have killer designs and require your brain to process/think a bit differently, as they do not use traditional shapes. They are pricey, but the best puzzles I've ever done and they are of exceptional wood quality that will last generations.

Some designs (like the Grateful Dead ones) can assemble into 2 different designs, and they all also show a totally different scene when assembling them upside down- this is most pleasurable.

Honestly I'm quite curious to hear your thoughts then! I have been playing since the first games so this game feels so fresh because it's been basically the same for 20+ years. I wonder if you will have different feelings having only played 1 other Pokémon game

I love comedy games. One of my favorite flat games I played last year was "The Outer Worlds"


I'm pretty sure it's still on GamePass. It's like Fallout in space with a sarcastic, anti corporation bent to the whole thing. Super fun.
