anyone have good tips for getting good bags out of the reduction chamber? I get typically 1 bag, is that normal?
I get 4 bags when I use the chamber reducer. The trick to this is a very fine grind and pack the weed as tight as possible to the top. I do one bag at 180c, 1 @ 190c, 1 @ 200c, 1 @ 230c. My herb is always chocolate brown and because I pack it so tightly it is easy to dump out and creates zero mess on the top screen. I swear by this method.

The new BAG ADAPTERS on the Magma Industries website looks very cool, anyone know release date?
We're working on them right now! Our glass blowers are almost done with our first batch, and we're hoping to have them released and on our website by the end of July. Fingers crossed!
Damn, i was really hoping for it to be compatible with solid valve. Bummer
We would absolutely love to be able to help out our Solid Valve brothers and sisters, but the way the clips on the Bag function make it very difficult to interface with glassware, at least on our Magma and Obsidian units. We will try to revisit the bag adapters for the Solid Valves and see if there's a way to engineer around the clips, but I wouldn't exactly say we're confident at this point. Cheers!

I completely understand. I have tried to think of a way myself without it looking clumsy but never could. If you were to figure it out i would absolutely be a customer as i am addicted to my oldschool solid valve.

X2 on love to see a setup for Solid Valve!
We're very regretful to not have a solution for you guys/gals, but I can honestly say it's not for lack of effort! My original idea for Magma was actually a bubbler for the Solid Valve, as that was what I personally used for ~10 years, and I can probably dig in the old Photo Vault to find some pictures and videos of my first designs that I had 3D printed which actually worked very well for the Solid Valve. Unfortunately, we weren't able to properly manufacture the clips (they would always break on us after limited use), and by the time our glass designs for the Easy Valve were in the works SB decided to stop selling the Volcanos with the Solid Valve and switch to the Easy Valve, which really put the Solid Valve designs on the shelf.

If we ever figure out a way to accommodate the Solid Valve users, ya'll will be the first to know! Cheers, everyone!

I was reading a study where they once tested Volcano Digit to try to detect any aluminium in the air stream and they were unable to detect any present.
How they did it was run the air pump for periods of about four hours or more at full temp, while piping the air through various scientific filtration for analysis. Running it for that long caused some heat, so they ran it via a 70cm long silicone hose pushed onto the the easy valve chamber. They then contained this hose in a flask with water.
Maybe this is where S&B first thought of a whip being used to cool the vapor for consumption?
Anyway I tried a similar thing with my Hybrid whip and even in just short sessions it really did make a noticeable difference.
There was a little condensation inside the pipe after, I had ice in the water.
You just need to find a vessel the right shape and try not to kink the whip inside, just a fun little thing to try sometime!
Well, you also need to avoid spilling the flask of water all over your Volcano Hybrid and the mains lead.
Take care!

PSA:
Please don't push down
Not even with brushing
(I know, it's a habit)

hybrid-push-down-advice.jpg

push one way only, and it ain't down
tabs will break with downward force
Thank you @ChooChooCharlie , this is very good advise!
Totally right:rolleyes:, this is also my unfortunate experience., I admit I did post in my anger and disappointment with their fragile plastics that they clearly fucked their batch up.(they didn't they are all fragile like this...:2c:).
because I could just not believe that the plastics don't hold up if you do anything not according the manual.
And I admit that since I keep the usage advise you just gave, nothing has broken,.... although definitely some weird brown melting spots on the orange, which I would have preferred not to see or come across.
Anyway, this is my main vape since I have her, wow! best vape for me anyway,(well if we want to keep the amount of herb I go trough in control, otherwise VERDAMPER!rules!) I use it at the moment(already 3 weeks)exclusively with the obsidian and the whip and a chamber reducer.
my god what a taste, what a smooth inhale and hold, no coughing at all, + gets me at the same temps a lot higher than the Mighty, with lesser amounts.🤪:2c:.

To those who also have Mighty, how does this compare? What's the difference like for you in terms of quality, vapor, density, heat up, ease of use, etc. I end up using Mighty over most desktop vapes these days but I want to know what you guys think?

I was also exclusively ending up only hitting my mighty and 'old'Crafty+(to conserve herb, otherwise verdamper full stop, but I end up around 8 or 10 grams a day with de verdamper....:science:.)........TILL Volcano Hybrid🗣️
landed in my live routine. 🥰 .
It's quicker extraction, more taste and less troth irritation, especially when you use the Obsidian(which I think S&B should have been producing theirselfs. Nothing wrong with Magma Industries(actually, the opposite, awesome costumer service, etc ,and perfect product, imho,i broke one and got a free replacement, because Magma thought it was a manufacturing fault...very impressed with that and also the again free postage to NZ..)
And I like I can hit it whenever I want, just leave it on all the time.OOhh and I prefer the whip way over the bags, whip from obsidian ,or whip straight in to the bong, what is tremendously good on higher temps, real K.O.)
I'm not really using the Bluetooth(just also I don't need it on the Crafty+),But it is useful to set once your screen settings and shutoff time.
OOHH and it's sort of cool you can track how many hours, although that doesn't matter to much when you just have it turned on all the time.
but for the Crafty it has it's use, otherwise I would not have known I put already 226,1 hours on her.
(I have about 10% less battery performance than brand new(f.y.i.),and I think that's very impressive , given how hard that single cell has to work in the Crafty+:2c::tup:.massiveS&B fanboy, even though I admit ,I have been a tad disappointed with the plastics on the Hybrid, but that's now with the new batches working out a lot better.Actually my latest new chamber housing is holding up very well. only one brown spot melted in the orange and only one rib broken of in the black top piece, and that's with over 100 hours on that chamber housing(where the previous ones would brake down on my after only 10 orso hours.:sherlock:,yes imho S&B did change the recipe for the last batches, and thank the lord for THAT!
It's just a pity that they never inform us about anything like that, must have to do to prevent possible lawsuits:hmm::2c::popcorn:.

p.s. I'm quite interested in hearing other experiences with letting the Hybrid running non stop, and why you wouldn't besides of the power consumption,(which I don't mind cause it's Fricking cold here at the moment, so any heat is good.....)

Thank you for your kind words!

We've actually tried to partner with Storz and Bickel since the beginning, but they weren't interested as their core competency is high temperature thermoplastics. Glad you're still enjoying your Obsidian :)

Cheers!

P.S. The Onyx Anyone!? We personally love the color, but it's not enough to make us buy another one (our original Hybrid is still doing just fine).

I enjoyed mostly a Mighty and sometimes Digit Volcano for 4 years, then I switched to mostly enjoying a Crafty+.
When I had 100 hours on the Crafty+ and there was no sign of a Mighty+ , and when a discount allowed me, I got the Hybrid.
Now I mostly use the Hybrid and only really use a Crafty+ if I need a puff in bed before sleep, when away from home, or when I want to mix it up a bit.
For me the temperatures did not appear the exact same, more like the maximum 230 deg. Celcius in Hybrid was similar to maximum 210 deg. C on Crafty+, and even still the Hybrid ABV is at times a slightly lighter color.
But the effects are great, just like a Mighty. I always use mine on maximum temperature now though. Where with my Digit I often did a gentler roasting.
Maybe this is one reason why I don't often use a simple dry mouthpiece with the whip. I like dry bags all day no problem, love the ease of use for my illness related fatigue but I do keep an eye on mouth hydration or try to mindful.
And I like whip through bubbler, or to try and maximise effects and taste I bought both a Nebula MP and a Helio dry mouthpiece (both from Vapexhale) with an 18mm whip adapter for the Helio. But I often use the bubbler I think just for the fun sounds and stoner vibe, and to take bigger hits, but maybe also to minimize the possibility of constant drying or warm vaporized oils having any irritating effect on my gums which are prone to certain conditions.

I can also choose to use it by inhaling fairly soon after loading and placing the chamber on top, or by waiting various amounts of time for the heat to release lots of vapor for the first draw.
I once wrote out each and every way I use this vape as a reply to someone, so ill try and dig that out and post it here soon!

As for ease of use, it's a little bit harder for me to move it about the house and to get up and running because I store it away from where I use it each night, so it's heavier to pick up and move than a Mighty! And the "heat ready" fan blast accompanied by a ball valve "clack" still frightens the shit out of me, but this ready signal can be turned off with the app.
Other than that it's easy to use.
I don't have a major problem with whips but they do soak up the oil and need to be replaced every now and then.
I did look into combining some extra long glass angled mouthpieces/tubes from OregonGlassBlower with a (maybe custom?) glass Easyvalve to 18mm adapter from Elev8 glass gallery, partly to try out the taste and partly so I could get all my reclaim back easily, but I'm quite happy as I am now too!
Also I've had no problems yet with my plastic parts on top from day one almost a year ago and still drop them on the floor by accident now and then with countless 1.5 minute heat soaks at full temperature.

The Hybrid heats fast, about 60 seconds I think? I still notice the quicker heat speed compared to Mighty/Crafty+. Really great for heavy stress days/moments, along with a bowl size that if needed you can pretty much overcome yourself with when the unit is set to Max. all the time lol!
It's 270 watts, highest vaporizer wattage off the top of my head.

I almost always want to take Hybrid out on the patio now over Crafty+. The reasons, let me think..
You can leave it on and have a few bags, or half capsules through the whip, over time, so there's less of a one and done feel like with the Crafty+ with that little time to cool off in between,
You're not wearing down a battery for when you might want it later, nor going to run out of power.
And I can do more with it, as in reclaim from cotton, or it lends itself to traditional materials well also.
Choose a powerful herb bag or a regular one etc and im not having to fill capsules or a small bowl in a vape like with the portable. The Hybrid bowl is large, handheld and easy enough to work with even with one hand or gloved hands if you want. Just watch out for the hot metal inner parts!

@Green Kiwi great to see your thoughts on this vape above I never checked this thread for a while as it was quiet and I missed all your great input!
I was going to post in here and ask, am I really the only one who has taken to using one of these vapes most of the time now!!??
Also I was disappointed and shocked to read in another thread that you did have some issues with the plastic parts on top, because I seem to have got lucky with this. Only a tiny hairline crack visible in a magnifying lens near the top corner of one or two tabs after almost a full year of (ab)use!
Maybe I'll post photos of them soon.
It's obvious they're well used as the ceramic coating on the metal parts is pretty grubby now, and I don't know how to clean it either.
Maybe that DC glass cleaner? I put one in the dishwasher once and it didn't seem to like that, came out sort of discolored like alloy items or a non stick pan would when not recommended for dishwashers!
Great that you are also getting very desirable performance from this machine with your particular available material over there and the vapes you've tried before!

I got the Hybrid back in mid-July. I only use it with the whip. After a couple days of use I noticed the vapor was wispy. I looked inside the j hook and the little tabs were broken. I bought a replacement and it broke too. I contacted S&B and they sent my two replacements which also broke. I contacted them again and they said it’s a wear and tear issue and not covered under warranty. My question is, does anyone else have this issue? Are there any known fixes? Thanks all!

The known fix is for them to re-design it . The less it's on, i.e. don't leave it on stand-by all day, would probably help preserve the tabs. With bluetooth and a fast heat up I don't see the point personally. The housing was made stronger at one point if my memory serves me correctly. Mine first broke in mid-late 2019 and they sent me a replacement. It hasn't happened since but I also don't use my Hybrid much. I actually pulled it out tonight though and surprise, surprise, it annihilated me :freak:. My tolerance has been dropping a little over the last week as I cut back while most of my house was sick (no COVID thankfully). I usually stop vaping when I feel my body fighting something but this fucking amazing plant seems to be the only thing keeping me healthy (sane at least haha). I was also reminded that I need an Obsidian so I use my Hybrid more. I have a makeshift DHGate piece but I know the real thing would be so much better.

At first Hybrid made me a bit more interested in the Volcano again, but the melting plastic and early metal dust issues really turned me off…I kept watching hoping they’d quickly fix all of the issues and turn it into what I would consider a solid and reliable product, but seeing new reports like “only one brown spot melted in the orange and only one rib broken of in the black top piece” along with reports of other parts repeatedly breaking, I am pretty disappointed and I’ve pretty much given up on it.

I’m not going to tell you guys it sucks and you shouldn’t use it, and by most accounts its performance is pretty solid, but I use vaporizers instead of smoking largely because I’m concerned about the potential effects on my health and the health of those I share with.

To me, any amount of burned plastic is unacceptable, the early metal dust issue was pretty concerning*, and easily broken parts on such an expensive and supposedly high end product are really disappointing.

I think that sums up my thoughts on S&B at this point…I know a lot of people love them and the positive reports make me continue to pay attention, but every time I start to wonder whether or not I should give them a shot I look at some of their material and design choices, read continued reports of problems that I wouldn’t accept in even the cheapest vaporizer, and I’m disappointed. :disgust:

*Even though the aluminum dust issue has apparently been resolved, it doesn’t help my confidence in the design or testing process, and at this point I wouldn’t want to be an early adopter if they released something new.

I will Try to Answer, and give my thoughts, @Vaporware ,and @Andy , in one post will also touch on @SquirrelMaster :

Yes Andy I also had ,orange tabs falling out of the whip attachment orange piece. Also Noticed the early ones I could(even when unused brand new!!)I could sort of squish the orange chamber holder , very easily between my fingers.it was quite flexible.
The new ones are NOW as firm as one should aspect ,a good product to be.
Everything that was really flexible has failed on me(I live in nz and can't even be bothered to claim warranty of a product made on the other side of the planet). but I did buy myself new chamber holders and" whip attachement orange things',from retailers all over the planet, and HEY: Presto!
only one set of them failed on me. other one is still holding up.(I do leave my hybrid on nonstop ,but I do take always chamber off immediately ,as S&B clearly warns against doing this. :2c: ).
So imho , I think their first batches had some faults popping up here and there, but the later ones are faultless.

Nothing I have vaped one medicates me more efficient than the hybrid!:2c:.
And Squirerelmaster , I also first tried a cheap dh gate inline bubbler, but nah the Obsidian really is worth it it imho.
Just with the whip ...yummie.

Luckily, I’ve had zero issues with my Hybrid that I got in March ‘21. The ceramic coating has held up and I’ve had no plastic issues with the chamber or whip attachment.

I did break the tabs on my first whip attachment, but that’s because I was blowing two bags for several days (as per photo) and too much reclaim built up and glued it onto my chamber

Did they do a similar experiment with the Hybrid? What do u think, guys, Is it possible for ceramic dust to form due to friction? Sometimes you slide your finger over the heating element and it is as if you feel something stabbing on your finger, although it may be AVB dust

I don't believe anyone has.

I don't think ceramic dust would form personally. If you scratched the surface you would vape it but I'm not sure about fine particles. Granted, has there ever been a ceramic coated bowl like the Hybrid/Mighty? Definitely not in long term use. I would think it could be something like using a ceramic coated frying pan. I would rather S&B make a stainless bowl personally but I am doubtful that will ever happen.

I can only assume that they desire the thermal properties of aluminum over stainless. I would think that stainless chambers would be cheaper than ceramic coating aluminum, but maybe it was just to save what they already made?

Quick questions to owners of a new unit:
Do the new units with the "new cermaic coating filling chamber" sticker already come with this chamber pre-installed or is it just the chamber to install by myself?

It comes preassembled. You only had to install it yourself if you had an original unit.
