Fluxer Heaters, induction heaters for Dynavap

I did read quite a few pages of this discussion, as well as the FAQs on Fluxer, but I'm still not certain about my order, so I have a quick question while there's still probably time to make tuning changes.

That is, will it heat to combustion if you go beyond the click, regardless coil size/setup? I'm hoping the answer is "yes", not because I want to combust, but just because I want to be sure that I can heat to full, dark extraction if I choose, even though I selected a 16mm coil set at the cooler setting. I went with those because the 16 seems to be the favorite on this list, and the cooler setting is the default. However, I usually turn my portables up to eleven, so I don't want the heating to have a top-end limit, I just want it to be easily controllable.

Oh, and I just ordered a ti Simrell with a ti tip, so that will likely be my main user, though I'm currently using a 2020 steel-tip M, which I'm sure I'll also test out in the Flite.

Thank you!

Go as far beyond the click as you dare, I won't stop you. The only hard limit is the thermal fuse, which opens at 110°C. That's pretty damn hot. If you do several PWM sessions in rapid succession, you can trip it (I have done that while "testing" ;) ). FYI, the new thermal fuse imposes a ~2:30 penalty (2 minutes, 30 seconds) when tripped. It has to drop 30°C to reset.

A ti tip (very quick to heat) and a 2020M (very slow to heat) span the maximum range of caps and heating profiles. Either 15mm or 16mm coils will work, it's really up to you how hot you want it.

Thank you! That sounds like the answer I hoped for, that basically I can't go too far wrong. I'll leave my order as it is.

I had been on several waiting lists for an Orion; I'm really glad that I dug a little deeper and discovered the concerns about that IH, while finding little but praise for your device. I can't wait to try it.

Flite #32 landed on my doorstep a few hours ago!

Well packaged, there's nothing like holding a block of aluminum and not plastic. I appreciate the attention to details, stickers on the package telling you whats inside and also a reminder to charge your batteries first. Thorough instructions also included.

I am just blown away at how high quality this looks and feels. The red finish is beautiful, slightly lighter in red color next to the Ruby Brilliant Cut grinder but close enough to make you feel like it's a match. Charged the batteries up and put it to use. It heated nicely on the default PWM setting, push to heat connection worked great, great flavor from the flower with both heats, and after the 2nd heat I got to dark brown ABV. The medicine gave me a different 'feel' from the 2020MTi as I get with my normal daily Mighty, exactly what I was hoping for.

Thank you for saving me from the blowtorch. Now I can use my 2020MTi and not worry about open flames. Welcome to the circle Fluxer Flite!

@coolmist55 - Induction heating will continue to add heat to the cap as long as the metal remains magnetic. As it heats, the magnetic properties change. When it reaches some insane temperature, the magnetic properties will wane. That's the long way of saying that time is the only variable with regard to coil size, along with a little forgiveness on where the heat is focused. We're talking glowing a cap red hot given enough time. Hence the thermal fuse ;)

Hello @mr_cfromcali

I wanted to order your newest device to here in cold north Funland, but store is saying "We are unable to calculate shipping rates for the selected items ". I tried as logged in customer and with paypal sign-in. Do you know what could be the problem?

Thank you!

Hi @Haemaerae ,

Thank you! I have added Finland to the list of countries to which I ship! Hopefully I can help make it fun. ;) Please try the store again, and let me know if you have any issues now. Thanks!

I have also added Japan, which should also make at least one other person happy. I'll let them know. ;)

Thanks to all who bought Flite yesterday - THANK YOU! I am catching up on the orders and will contact you if/when I have any questions.

At last check there were still some heaters in the store, so if anyone else wants one now, have at. :D

Cheers, and thank you!!!

Has anyone experimented with the bowls LEDs power consumption?

Im curious if dimming or turning it off completely will net me an additional session over the course of a full charge and discharge cycle

That depends on how long you have it on. If you turn on the FD (or I assume Flite), use it and then turn it off you’ll probably never notice the power the light uses. If you leave it on for a few days though, the light alone can drain the battery.

If you’re turning it off I wouldn’t worry about it, but if you are taking it somewhere you can’t recharge and you want to maximize battery life, turning off the light should help a little.

Received Flite #36 on Sat. Flux Deluxe is my current IH and is an amazing product but the flite takes it to another level with the PWM, smaller size and exceptional design.
Went with the CaS only and 16mm coil. Using a simrell w/ TI tip & low temp cap and a BB9, TI tip, reg cap (2018). Getting darker, better extracted ABV with both caps compared to the FD, slower to click which I am ok with as it feels like a good single flame cook, but honestly been a while since I used a torch.
Thank you Jeff and TD, great stuff.

Well I am joining the Flite club. Got a gun metal with 15mm, cooler(default) coil height, CaS, and button. Is this the TommyDee config previously mentioned?

I like the idea of both CaS and button for redundancy and also plan on using the button while upside down or if I want to pull the cap out slightly while heating.

I've used mine now about a half dozen times, working on technique. I've got a 2020M Ti-tip regular cap 75% PWM through Grav conical bubbler.

It takes about 25 PWM clicks to get to cap click, but if I keep it on there for another 10 PWM clicks or so that first draw is light but full and hit me like a ton of bricks. On the second round, the cap click comes at about 15 PWM clicks, I keep it on for another 5 clicks or so and that one comes out thicker and full (more bricks) with ABV that is dark around the edges and lighter in the middle, kinda like a medium-rare steak.

I'm completely blown away by the Flite.

So far I love the size, not too heavy, perfect to hold in your hand while using it, no need to leave it on the table. I've only used it for two days so I'll need a lot more time to play with the PWM to see what I like, but so far I use it at full power to get a feel for what the Flite can do.

It does run very hot, in fact hotter than my 15mm Flix and I've managed to combust once. I think a lot of my problems comes from the fact that I need to take smaller puffs and let the Vapcap cool down a little between hits to help the vapor from being too harsh. I'll give myself a week to see if I want too change the coil but I'm pretty sure I'll keep it like it is.

I can now say that my "on the go" Vapcap kit is complete:

Pure fire! That's a nice looking matching set!

@The Chemist - Your suggestion of cooling off a bit more for the second draw will do the trick to avoid combustion.

Between the two settings - default and hotter, default means you can sesh with cooling the cap on the magnet at the draw. Accelerated cooling. The hotter cap means you need to draw it to the cooldown click to get the bowl cooler as well or wait for the cooldown click. No forced cooling. That seems a perfect limit between these two settings. If you still get combustion with the ladder technique, you might try to adjust the coil downward.

That is a truly stylin' little set-up you have there: very sweet!

I mean, somebody out there should be selling these, together like this, as a Valentine's Day special package, no???

Is the vapcap rose gold? It almost seems to match the coil.

Just stunning!

Now I want to accessorize it with a tray, utensils, a case …

Out for delivery, a day early! Tracking said it'd be here tomorrow and with all the crazy weather lately I was expecting it to be at least a day or two late. Way to go USPS!
I'm charging my batteries now so I'll be ready when the package arrives. Unfortunately I'm working late today so it'll be pretty late tonight before I can try it out. I hope the day goes fast!
