Well reasonably happy with result, put one of those "dc buck converters?" in and that seems to stop the voltage wandering so much. Grabbed a shorter braided cable also (ideally would be 10cm longer :( )

Wow! That is a beautiful setup!! Did you make the box? Could we see pics from other angles please? Making me want a walnut one to go with my new Woodscents Squared.

The box is just one of the thuya jewellry boxes from ebay, will pm you link of box before from ebay. Extra wood was from an auction for a few broken boxes (was cheaper than buying the thuya wood). I don't have the tools or ability to make a box so found it easier to trawl ebay for boxes that fitted, not much choice when you want 10cm internal height. Just grabbed the electrical parts from amazon

Loving my African Mahogany WS... even more after I started connecting the dial directly to the vape.

I’ve wanted a Woodscents forever, so jealous of you homies!

I noticed Sneaky Pete / vapenorth has the Woodscents “Lite” - do these units come with the new upgraded heater?

Forgive me if I’ve asked this before months ago when my Ed’s TNT VAS got me first!

@grogazola Nope. In fact, you may find less need for the VVPS since the newer heater has more power. With the old heater, some like the VVPS so they can run the unit over 12v. I don't think that's as necessary with the new heater. On the other hand, you may still want a VVPS down the line for more precise control. I really like mine. I have the old heater, and I really only go over 12v if I'm running through water.

A vvps can also help flavor chasers, I know one person that loves 10.5v...I used to run one as aromatherapy (smell hider) at 9v as standard on low still cooked off the oil too fast for my liking (small roon), can't go that low with the LED dimmer. :2c:
But don't bother with the vvps at first as you may not need it.

I have the new heater in my Square Woodscents. I use the VVPS to dial in exact voltage. I set it at 10.0v and it makes perfect AVB every single time.

I just sold my collection of 18Ms (SS tips) dynavaps and just ordered two hydravongs (Ti tips). Thinking Ed’s wonderful creation (hereinafter referred to as Woodscents Lite) would be a beautiful pairing to my new hydravongs...

Since the Woodscents Lite comes with an extra Ti tip, what would you recommend as an extra stem? The wackier the better....:science:

I have yet to even mention that I'm a proud owner of a japanese elm burl unit. I use the led dimmer. Need to upgrade I really like that box that was made, but with so many projects a vvps might just have to do for now. Mine is usually set around 8ish. Turn it on in the morning and it stays on most of they day unless I know it wont be used for a few hours. Love starting my day with my WS.

I would recommend some type of cooling stem as they are a game changer for direct draw hits IMO. I think Pete might actually include a free cooling stem with the Lite kits, or at least he was doing it for a while. I think it was the Gnarly stem which is a bit long for my liking and also has a carb. Personally, I use a glass charlie stem, with a Sneaky Pete Hula XL as a backup.

Thank you for the info! I saw Sneaky Pete is still offering a gnarly stem :) I’ll get a bb9 too for more water vapour goodness.

Thank you for the recommendation! I’ll keep my eyes out for a Charlie stem within Canada.

I’ll have two hydravongs, a gnarly stem, and a bb9. Recommend any other stems??

About to pick up a Woodscents Aromalog :) Read through the manual but I still have questions as this is my first log...

Still curious how it all works and how to care for the heater. Should my flower touch the heater? Should there be a gap between flower and heater? Can I use kief with my Woodscents?

How do you safely deep-clean the heater? With heat? Isopropyl alcohol when yours cool to the touch? Simply tapping the unit upside down?

Read through the manual but I still have these questions. Is there any other info online that may be of help to a first timer?

If flower touches the end of the Airpath where the CCD is it will stick to it and require brushing off after your hit. I always try to leave a small gap so I never have to clean the airpath/heater assembly. Yes, you can use kief. About 1-2mm in the bottom of the bowl hits like a champ. I don’t use cotton or herb and just deal with a tiny amount getting through the screen into my bubbler. I almost always use the WS with a bubbler.

There really isn’t ever a need to clean it.

The FuckComustion forum has a wealth of info in the Woodscents thread.

Hope that helps. I guess it’s time to go rip one with my Woodscents Squared. Hope y’all had a great Xmas.

Merry Christmas!

Thank you for your quick reply. Currently reading the posts from 2019 to see if my questions have been covered.

Just to be clear, the CCD is the screen on the heater? Leaving a slight gap will keep it clean eh? Great to hear. Thank you!

Has anyone ever felt the need to deep-clean the heater with max heat or isoproyl?

Yep. Circumferential Compression Diffuser is Dynavap for fancy ass screen.
Max heat won’t get hot enough to do anything as far as cleaning. If the end of your tip is gunky I guess you could get the tip of the air path dirty and that would just require wipe w ISO. It is Ti so easy to clean.
The only thing my WS have ever needed was a rub down with conditioner whenever they start to look dry to keep the wood pretty.
And seein you already have Dynavaps you know the routine for cleaning them. I sound like a salesman for Ed. Lol

True! Thank you! So at no point should the flower touch the heater in the Aromalog?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the tip will be at most three quarters full to ensure no flower touches the screen of the heater or the heater? Is it a big deal if flower touches the screen of the heater or the heater?

Sorry for my ignorance, my excitement for log vapes is only matched by my ignorance of log vapes...Thank you! :)

@grogazola You will never need to clean the heater itself. The most you will ever need to do is brush off the screen and turn the unit upside down to remove any bits that may have fallen into the unit. Condition the wood once a month or so and you’ll be golden.

You are correct, generally you can’t pack the tip fully as you would with a Vapcap, as the heater fills some of the space in the tip. How much you tamp is user preference, though I typically go with a light tamp. It’s really not a big deal if your flower touches the screen on the heater assembly. Worst case is some crumbs stick to the screen, which can be removed with a pick tool, or brushed off once the unit is turned off and cooled down. I’ve never had an issue with flower falling through the screen and into the heater itself.

The Woodscents is dead simple once you start using it. You won’t have to think about much or fuss over anything. That’s one of the things I love about it!

I swapped out the CCD for @DDave Ti mesh screens for better airflow and I also pushed it into the heater so it sits on the element so I can use the full bowl again.
I used my 2x WS like this for a while but now I do not use any filter, completely open-ended heater core for maximum airflow as I only use my WS inverted on a bong.

I just had the credit card I used for Ed's TNT compromised. Hackers attempted to sign up for the service OldReads.com using my name and credit card. Luckily my bank immediately flagged (and declined) the charge and canceled the card, so no real harm.

But, I've only used this particular card a handful of times, so there were a few suspects. And the hacker left a pretty big hint.

I use vanity emails to limit spam: my email for Ed's TNT was tnt@customdomain.com. The email the hacker used for OldReads was tnt83@customdomain.com

My Ed's purchase was back in March, so anyone who purchased between then and now, might want to check your credit card statements.

Interesting. The restricted airflow is the only thing I don’t care for about the WS. I will remove my CCD and see what happens. Thanks for the tip!
