Crafty/Crafty+ by Storz & Bickel

Hello guys !

I'm new in the forum and I just got my Crafty + about 2 weeks ago.

I'm having some issues with the battery. I checked with a chronometer from the moment I turn on until I turn off.
I got 32 min from fully charged battery, 3 and a half bowls. I believe something is wrong.

Also it takes about 2 hours and 20 minutes to charge, while it says charges in 1 hour and 30 minutes. I use the anker powerport 2, 24W, which is a good charger.

Does more people are having the same issues?

What I think is happening to you here is this: don't charge with more than the advised 2 amps, next make sure you use the original charger cord. Every single aftermarket cord seems to give people problems with charging..
p.s my empty to full charge takes indeed more like 3 hours than the time S&B claims.........my run time on 180C (I don't need higher temps personally)is around the 1 hour 20 minutes mark.
I really really like this little machine, I hope to see this heating element in the upcoming Mighty+, as it's imho a better heating element than the previous one.
Vapour is stronger but smoother, the bowl is done in less tokes, but those tokes get you way higher.
Soo basically, I think it's a more efficient vape.

yes I think so ,since @ohmygodimsohigh keeps talking about it.
If you watch his last two fist comparison between crafty + and mighty, he mentions the mighty + again.
And because of Troy in the past 'out of the blue'there was sitting with a crafty + in his hand.
It would be not a stretch, imho to aspect a mighty+ because of that.
So sorry no link.(yet....?).

OOOps, my bad, I thought(but clearly wrong...)that my runtime was the 80 minutes.IT'S NOT.
my runtime is after checking the runtime with a stopwatch, more like 52 to 55 minutes.
Sorry again for the misinformation.

I do really have fallen for this little powerhouse, and I reckon one of the reasons it hits harder than previous heathers is ,that it has 4 mini (mini, mini)posts under the bottom screen.
I think this keeps the capsules tight in place against the cooling unit,and ads to the conduction.

Any other fellow members here whom have fallen for this little girl?

It's a great little vape, i put 100 hours on one Crafty+ and got another because I thought that was heading towards a lot of hours total and there was a sale on! I still have to sell my first one or decide if I should keep it for when the battery is low in my new one.
As somebody pointed out, being a single built in 18650 device there can be a little bit of charging with these, especially if it's your only vape or only portable and you use regularly. It's not too bad, just might catch you out from time to time if you forgot to charge it. Use a plugin timer at night.
I thought I sensed some differences in my two and I preferred the first ones cell, but I might be wrong! Couldn't prove much by timing things.

You are dead right about the heater element change and how its actually very noticeable, and of benefit!

In one conversation I had with the company about those posts under the bottom screen, they told me... "The 4 feet in the filling chamber should avoid that the screen gets in contact with the heating cartridge."
This tells me that it might drastically increase the conduction effect (and confuse the temperature sensors/damage the vape?!) to allow a screen to touch the element part itself. So maybe that's one reason they are there. But you could have a good point about the posts bringing their own amount of conduction to the screen/load too.
I wondered if you could tune it a little by allowing one screen wire to touch the heater part and adjust the vape accordingly, but why bother with that when it works so well as is!

They have a good heat balance going here and as a result it seems to be a very strong hybrid vape.

Hmmm... Wanted to ask yall thoughts, opinion..

Dug my first mighty from out the grave. Been some years. The screen only reveals what's on its display when a brightlight is shined on it from a particular angle, the housing is cracked (still works fine). Tried rma, but it's out of warranty. Exchange for discounted crafty or mighty... I had to write back to be sure it's a Crafty+, but it comes with a new warranty so I assume it is +...

I'm wondering if I should just trade the mighty for crafty+, especially like how I rarely use my mighty!

Or that's a bad idea?

maybe the trade for the crafty+ would be better as you weren't using the mighty - so replacing it with another mighty would put you back where you started? As to the reasons why you stopped using the mighty, are they taken care of with a new one, or with another vape altogether (like the crafty+)?

@thx1138 I stopped using my Mighty because it was beat up and at the time I didn't want to break out the new one. Simultaneously I was going through a vapcap phase on to full convection. G43, Elev8r, sticky brick, ghost mv1 etc... G43 changed the game for me...
Pulled out the new mighty last week n was impressed, forgot how nice Mighty can be... Finally found the old one n Cleaned it up. I just registered it realizing I could've possibly had it fixed under warranty years ago smh.

Now I'm just considering, why not just get a crafty+ if S&B has truly ironed out all th kinks, to compliment the Mighty. Variation. Cheaper.

*my communication with S&B was positive. They responded within a day or 2 to my two Inquiries

After first trying vaping with Airizer EQ I thought vaping was just doing nothing or hardly anything. The Crafty+ is the second vape I tried and it made a world of difference. I thought to myself, "If this ones good, I wonder if there are ones even better than this!?".

I don't own it but the EQ is universally acclaimed as one of the most affordable/good vape out there.
You are probably missing something on your setup/technique if it does nothing to you.

I have the EQ and loved it for ever....till I bought s n b products. Crafty plus is awesome and so is volcano hybrid system.

I like the dosing capsule option a lot. I think I will be getting more of the capsules and related products soon.

I think having a clean oven and being able to swap pre filled capsules is going to be the game changer for crafty+ and mighty but also for the volcano

Crafty just refuses to get charged. Good thing is I haven't sent in my Mighty yet, so 1 packaged postage will do for both.

I liked S&B products and still love them, but one day I tried a Fury 2 and later Tubo, Fierce, Tinymight which offer on-demand capabilities (or close to that).
Suddenly session vapes, at least portable ones, became old, to the point I don't know in which drawer I (mis)placed my Crafty&Mighty since then.
I really miss S&B portable vaping especially the capability of never ever going close to combustion, but can't stand having to vape a full bowl at once or minutes long heating time.

The 'minute long' heat up time is annoying after you've gotten used to the quick heating of vapes like TinyMight.
The quick heatup was what attracted me to both the Haze Square and the Ghost.

But, my Crafty is the one to share with people who don't like buttons. It is simple... heat up, inhale, pass (when we can share safely again). No technique to worry about, no pressing of any button (except to turn on).

And I love my dosing capsules.

You can pack a small load in the crafty with the dosing capsules.

The Crafty/Mighty do present multiple ways to use them, and I enjoy them.
But I think @justcametomind's point was that none of those methods are convection, and all require heatup time well over a minute.
Sometimes it's nice to load a pinch and do it up in one or two hits in less than a minute, and there are vapes that do that now.
I still love the Mighty, but for different reasons these days. I pack it full and share with the old lady in leisurely fashion, sometimes through water with a whip.

I just got a super used crafty from a friend(Not in working condition), and want to give myself a shot to restore it to working condition.

1) Can i soak the plastic body pieces in isopropl alcohol? Ive already cleaned the CU

2) Does anyone sell replacement pieces like a new bowl? It came pretty gross, and although I can clean it up.... meh. Id rather replace it

3) There is apparently a charging issue, but I have not replaced the battery to see if its the culprit. Anyone have advice on common reasons as to why the device cant charge? The PCB looks mint, nothing blown or visually busted

E: also, can someone comment on screw sizes? The unit didnt come with either screws

just posting my thought's and curious if people are thinking/feeling the same way;
With the Crafty + in my life now, for a few months(67 hours)' had a few "accidents" with this little powerhouse:
First time I dropped 'her' while standing (i'am tall)on a hard wooden floor, she bounced just back up, I didn't even have to bend to catch her in up flight......
next time ,she got dropped from 2 meters on a concrete floor, she bounced half way back up ,but I was to medicated to respond in time.(so quite a few bounces after that too....my bad)
next time(last week), I managed to fall of a cliff in the bush, I was(am) very bruised and sore, but thankfully didn't break bones. About every thing in my backpack got smashed to pieces, but not the Crafty+..

now my only other S&B vast experience is with the Mighty, I'm 100% sure that any one of those accidents(yes I'm a bit clumsy.)would have decimated the Mighty.
But clearly not the Crafty+,I do think that this is because of their improved plastic formula.

Also I notice my last Mighty(2019)even though it has (guessed for charge time)about 450 hours on it, doesn't have any cracks whatsoever on the plastics.(quite different then before Mighty's).

I think/feel , that S&B now uses a more durable formula for their plastics.
But even when their plastic was cracking on 'way too many people', I have always felt their product to be the best you can get for normal money.

I've now had mine for 5 years, and had no issues thus far. I was quite concerned at the time of purchasing as there were quite a few reviews saying that they brake etc.

Tips to longevity and general use (IMO);

Don't charge the crafty immediately after use
Dont let it get too hot over a long period
Dump the vaped bud straight away after your session and give a quick blow or clean
Dont vape and charge at the same time
Accept that it has a shit battery life (my model anyway) and work around it, ie always have full charge before first session, and if practical carry a small portable charger.

Great bit of kit and does the job well. I only manage 2 big sessions from a full charge though, but I''m used to it now. It's also fun letting mates etc have a go on it when they see it!

Have you always only gotten 2 sessions? (more typical would be 4 ... or maybe 3). Or is this with a depleted battery?

this is the only part in your for the rest good tips for usage ,that I strongly disagree with.:
never ever blow in the bowl!it will make the dust you blow away to build up in the heating element, and slowly but surely, will make your vape a "cough machine", and slowly also reducing the airflow.(been there cleaned that...with my long beloved mighty's..)
clean indeed, straight after wards your sesion with the brush upside down. than nothing.
I clean the bowl at least once a week with q tips and iso, and it stay's almost brand new..
the cleaner every thing is(strongly vote for cleaning cu every 25 bowls...or more often if you have time to clean...)the smoother and tasty your experience will be.

I have after 71 hours now still about 50 minutes + run time on one charge , there might be something wrong(maybe stored in a hot shipping container on the warf..??)and that give's me around 5 stretched sessions.i am actually very impressed with battery life, giving thought to it being only one battery , powering a 29.2 watts heather.

I miss mine already, my RMA parcel arrived at German HQ yesterday for small issues.
Lucky I have the Volcano hybrid and not that much need for an outdoor vape just now, but hope it gets back sometime soon!
The company were kind enough to organize a UPS pickup from my doorstep for free, i was finding it hard to mail it with restrictions here. Nice of them!

Well, I just realized it's been over three years since I designed and published a charging stand for the Crafty. This is for those with access to a 3D printer. It's completely free to download and print.
I thought that there are likely many users of the Crafty that have not seen this.
This is untested with the Crafty+ as I don't have one. I'd love to hear from someone who has tried this with the +.
