That's why the instructions say to inhale as soon as you start pressing the button. Start your inhale slow to give it time to heat up, and speed up once the screen says temp protection.

I got mine on eBay. Usually free shipping and no tax. Make sure you're buying from the US, shipping from China can take significantly longer and they're not much cheaper.

Yeah I did that too. Definitely helped. Keep in mind, these things were assembled in China. Everyone in the factories there is overworked. Best to adjust these things ourselves if we want them to work well.

Are you guys able to clean the bottom of the cup using heat alone? I have a big pool of oil at the bottom that constantly makes vapor if I get the donut glowing hot, but can never clear. When I first got my V3, the donut wasn't all the way down in the bottom of the cup, so I adjusted it, but...

It was me. And thinking back, I recall that external magnetic fields don't have an effect on coils, or more accurately, the coil balances out the effects of external fields. Either way, yeah I don't think magnets are a problem.

I believe coils, such as the one that's squished flat inside the DT donut, create a magnetic field as current flows. This magnetic field affects resistance and current flow and such. So a magnet so close to those coils would not be good. Source: my vague memory of physics with...

I think it's just the donut is too high off the floor of the cup. Not too concerned though. Like I said, the old one should last til the V3. I don't wanna get in Matt's way trying to release it. :D

I loaded more in the new one that didn't work than I loaded in the old one that did work. It just can't transfer enough heat into the wax to boil the layer on the bottom. Just a bad atty. :[

Are you sure about that? When I was testing TCRs with my IR thermometer, I found that 300-400 was running a lot hotter than the 235-255 suggested range.

I tried the old atty, and it worked like normal. I ran the new one at 12W and got the donut red, and it boiled off most of the wax, but there's still a thick layer of dark oil at the bottom of the cup, where the old atty would have been clear white. It looks like the donut is slightly higher...
