Massdrop is currently offering the Solo for $114.99 (1 day left but there'll be more drops)
Not linking 'cause unsure if that's OK here.
EDIT: And lemme just add I'm loving the friendly vibe here @ FC. Rock on dude(tte)s!
Yeah I was very sceptical myself, at first. I had taken it apart before for cleaning and attempts to fix it. Like 10 times. Always very careful and thorough. Doublechecked everywhere but underneath the oven.
When I went in again and saw the "oxidation", I too thought "this isn't gonna do it"...
I usually start at 5 and might push it up to 6 near the end of the 10 mins (or is it 12).
That's because I'm often looking for a slap in the face kinda hit. As compensation for the lack of oxygen deprivation many of us ex-smokers enjoyed so much. 'Specially at night-time.
During the day I...
Fuck. I'm a couple weeks over my warranty. Did the oxidation under the oven come back? Or did your Solo have other issues besides that?
Mine's still going since the fix. Fingers crossed.
A big thank you to Detonator for this post: it fixed my retired Solo!
It was a refurbished unit they sent me after my initial Solo went belly up (as well, yep). I still have that one, so now I'm thinking I'm gonna try and fix that one too :D
The one that's now strutting its stuff once more...
I've been following the last couple of Solo drops and the delays have always been on Arizer's end. Not that I'm pointing fingers, but a group buy service is not a store. Massdrop explicitly states you can expect a lengthy delivery time. I'd advise everyone not to use Massdrop if you value quick...
...aaand it's here (Belgium)! Took just 9 days to arrive -- which is pretty fast for low-cost services like Massdrop. It's an M1C1, just charged it and doing a burn-off now. Looking fine.
Woo-hoo! :)
I had exactly the same thing happen to me last week. Resets didn't work. Battery seemed ok. I concluded it's a hardware/circuitry failure. Where and when did you buy it if I may ask? Batch number? I contacted Massdrop (where I bought it) and they're sending me a new one, no questions asked. Best...
Following up on this, I contacted Massdrop and... they promptly offered to send me a new one, shipping tomorrow, no charge, and I get to keep the old one too :whoa:
Now that's just.. top notch in my book. Thank you Massdrop.
Oh.. well um, damn. I don't know the first thing about this electricity stuff, obviously. I will try it with some kind of load later (gotta go now). Thanks a lot @Pipes!
Yeah sorry I pressed "post" and realized I hadn't commented on that. Was editing while more posts were coming in and I didn't want to confuse people. As for the point you made: Yep thank you, if I decide to buy a backup I will definitely ask them about that and should they lower the price, it...
I agree, I wouldn't mind paying more for the convenience. That being said, $243 overshoots my definition of "more" by quite a margin :whip:<- which doesn't take away from my appreciation of @king krish' heads-up.
