If you can make the heater and more portable and add a temperature controller then you have yourself a pretty amazing platform for a vaporizer. The quick heat up time, battery life and pure air path would make one hell of a vape.
A thought I had about the bottom cover:
Why not have the bottom wood section and sleeve attach with a thumb screw the goes through the bottom wood section and into the hole where the brass flathead screw is? That way there would be no tools required for changing the battery or heater module...
FWIW my heater toasts the full load very evenly and I don't find any of the hits too hot at all. I actually don't even grind my herb, I just read off a chunk and stuff it in.
I covered all the exposed points with electrical tape before putting it in the tin so there is no chance of shorts. The batteries aren't under a heavy load at all and heading is so fast that I'm not concerned about the thing catching fire.
