I used it again today in on demand mode at 385. The vapor is really cool and the taste has gotten better. I can taste the terpines on the first few puffs. The vapor is smooth and light. Not too heavy which was what I wanted. I have to try going higher on temperatures but I really enjoy it so far. I can see it being messy, I’ve been using the concentrate pad on top of the herb still, which makes it easier to not get AVB all over the lid. So far I really like device.

Decent Capsules would be a godsend for this vape.

I have honestly never used capsules, but I would be willing to try. I would prefer if it was really easy to fill it, dump it, refill it and keep going. There’s others vapes where it is easier to do this. More testing with this one later today.

I’ve used dosing capsules and no dosing capsules on the Mighty+, Tinymight and X3Pro. It makes cleanup way easier and I like being able to pack up multiple capsules ahead of time, instead of carrying loose flower. However, I find there’s bigger clouds/more vapor without the capsules. I don’t think it wastes any more flower, just takes longer to extract with capsules.

I like the Legacy Pro a lot, but capsules add the ease of portability. Granted I usually use a live resin vaporizer cart if I’m going for discrete and transportable.

it's rare to see manufacturers actually try to design a good capsule experience, especially for convection. There's no reason that a great convection capsule couldn't be built; manufacturers just don't care enough to put the same engineering and design thinking into the accessories as they do for the parent product. Tinymight for example. Great overall product design; totally mailed it in on the capsule offering. I hope AirVape will flip that script

Is anyone else just using on demand mode only? I bought this vape cause I like on demand vaporizers more for quick hits. I have a Mighty which gets used for sessions and when I am with friends. This vape was meant to be a personal one. Haven’t really used the session mode. The on demand mode is nice but I feel like it’s not as potent as some other on demand vaporizers. Is it because it’s just cooling the vapor really well?

How are you pulling and for how long? Ondemand for me I’m getting massive clouds on that temp and esp on 403

I disagree, at 403 I Think it’s very potent. I have a TM and a P80 and it def contends with them.

I’ve been starting out slow, and increasing my draw. Maybe 10-15 seconds per draw. Once I feel the vapor getting hotter I release the button and continue inhaling to cool the bowl down.

Could it be the way I’m packing it? With the concentrate pad on top? I don’t really want to pack the bowl full because it gets messing on the cap on the lid.

It could be, tbh I put the micro disk almost to the point where it may screw off to have the bowl reduced as much as possible. Tbh having it “caked” or pressed on that micro disk is the best case scenario for cleaning or emptying the device. At times it gets messy but I’m willing to sacrifice that. I always clean it before I know I’m going to head out with it. And mainly use two bowls throughout the day out and about. Works for me and throughly medicated. I also came from vaping the original OG and the Firefly so I guess I’m self trained on extracting the herb( by no means am I a the one who really knows how to extract properly) . I have posted some vids on reddit under chitownvape. Happy vaping!

Willl check them out thanks. Honestly, I’m still experimenting with this vape. I tend to compare it to my other vapes so maybe I’m not being fair to the AVP. I will try it out some more today using your tips. I’ll let you know how it goes. I have a lot of free time today 😆.

I saw on your Reddit videos you are hitting it at really high temperatures! The highest I’ve gone is 410 like in my Mighty. Do you usually vape at high temperatures, or do you also temp step?

I use it slowly for on demand. I vape at 340-360 and get massive clouds. Bigger than my Tinymight. I suspect it’s warmer than the temperature readings.

Ah okay. Maybe mine is calibrated differently? Will do more testing at low temps and report back. Working out right now, almost done and will grab the AVP after a nice cold shower, play some FIFA 😂

Edit; Are you also using it on demand?

The bowl is bigger though right? So it makes sense the clouds would be bigger... Lowest temp settings can be very effective especially with more loaded, and the temperature is always relative especially with convection heating on demand

That vid was just to test its efficiency, my normal vape temp is 403

Did a deep cleaning today. Used some everclear to wipe everything down. I did encounter a bit of annoyance.

The bulk of the airpath from the oven to the mouthpiece is a glass tube inside the device which is easy to clean, but, there are two small sections where the vapor goes through plastic and some kind of rubber/silicon gasket. As far as I can tell, the rubber/silicon parts aren't removable, and due to the way the channel turns at a near right-angle, there's no good way to completely clean inside those passages. I ended up shoving a small q-tip in there from different angles to clean it out as best I could, but I'm sure it's still dirty in there (I can smell it).

Since those channels are part of the body of the device, I can't take it out to soak it in ethanol or anything like that. It would be nice if the entire airpath was removable for proper perfect cleaning. For me, a "perfect" device is going to have as close to an all-glass airpath as possible, and the entire airpath should be easily removable/cleanable/soakable. You can't do that with an ALP.

Anyway, maybe that's an upgrade for a future airvape.

As for today's session...

I cleaned the ALP up because I got my hands on some absolutely gorgeous fresh Black Jack. Taking a cue from someone above in the thread, I filled the bowl about 2/3rd of the way with a light tamp, then placed the concentrate pad on top of the flower. It sat roughly flush with the edge of the bowl of the oven, so I shut the door and turned on on-demand at 335F. Sativas really do love those lower temps. The taste was great and the impact was high. When I finally stopped getting vapor (it took a surprisingly long time), I opened it up and carefully pried the concentrate puck out with the little metal lid tool and dropped it on the table (it's hot, don't touch it). The flower came out more or less like a puck and the chamber and dosing cap was clean. I was so happy with it that I did it twice.

I really do love this vape, quirks and all. It hits like a truck and I enjoy the little ritual of loading and using it. I've been leaving the device in on-demand. I feel like I get a lot more control over things that way and the device stays a LOT cooler and comfortable to hold/pocket. I doubt I'll go back to session mode again.

Yes, I only use it on demand. I have a very low tolerance and only use it for pain relief.

Yeah, that’s probably it. I just pack it and use it on demand over the course of 1-3 days, depending on pain. I know it’s less efficient and I probably get sub-optimal taste and waste some flower, but an eighth lasts me almost. a month.

Have you tried a very very small pinch with the concentrate pad on top? You may treat your pain, stretch your medicine and have better flavor?

Airvapeusa also has extra tubes for the vapor path. Medical users who need their vape around the clock may want an extra tube so you always have a clean one. For $5 it seems like good "insurance"

I have tried the pinch with the concentrate pad. I will give it a shot. I have an extra vapor tube and a few extra pieces for replacement parts. Just bought another one for a family member who I’m trying to convince to stop smoking joints/bongs all day as he’s coughing and wheezing a lot.

In general, I would agree with you. One exception I noticed. Using a titanium Tinymight stem seemed to add conduction heat as well. The stem got uncomfortably hot. The legacy pro mouthpiece does not get hot so that is a plus. The effect was similar to session mode versus on demand mode. The extra conduction makes some users believe the temperature is not accurate.

I can only speak for myself, but I usually compensate for a capsule by raising the temperature 5-10 degrees C.

When AirvapeUSa comes out with the capsules try at your usual temperature settings. If you are not satisfied raise the temp in small steps until there is vapor that you are satisfied with.
