I see that you guys are having a ball here now that I revived this old thread 🤣🤣🤣. I just read moltentiger mention manual mode and wattage. Does it/tubo firmware support Temp control as well? Asking because I had a stempod si with only wattage control and o kept combusting.
Yes the firmware supports temp control, and it also has the benefit of autofire (known as cruise control in Tubo firmware).

yeah many thanks. This is the motivation I have been waiting a long time for - I have had this TUBOx put aside for sooo long - and yet now I am getting some of the finest vapour that I've been missing.

It's such a rad way to vape. I've discovered that setting it to 44w straight out of the box is simple and properly effective with some intuition.

TUBOx quick setup guide for power/wattage mode:
1. Connect your TUBOx to your box mod via the 510 screw
connection
2. Select Watts (20-50W), press and hold the fire button to use
the device on-demand

I have found the simple power/wattage mode to be the easiest to replicate, but it is better to have it set up with the double click and stay on function, rather than having to hold the fire button. But I have found autopilot a little finicky to set it up so it works automatically every time.

Using it now, with a glass piece in power/wattage mode, I watch the vapour and when it gets suspiciously juicy I rapidly accelerate my draw speed and "fight" the heater, holding the chamber at the desired temp to get a really powerful express extraction.

The heater 'beat' me at 50w hence combustion, so tuning in to the specific point where it is an easy battle won every time is the ticket to huge white walls and full torus function...

It's so awesome to try this again, it is basically performing exactly how I want my Xmax V3 Pro to, just roaring breezy hits, effortless power and proper mind blowing effects. Glass rig perfection.

Power/wattage mode is not so much about setting a temp, it did originally say 195 dC on-screen when I first used it, but it now reads 240 dC.
By fluctuating draw speed and regulating the hit, you can forget about specifics and have a perfect yet hot spotty convection experience.
Judge the power level setting by the ABV and the flavour (it's great for this, this is a vape I would say best suited to premium flower, actually any grade it performs near perfectly, but it will do the very best justice). It can offer fully smouldered, crispy black, dark brown, coffee, amber, yellow, green. Dialled in with the voltage and particular toking pattern it has a lot to offer.

I have the opportunity to buy 1 paired with a Wismec dual mod and several stems for probably around $150, would this be a decent deal? TIA
if the mod and the heater are calibrated well, you will not need to use power mod. just TCR. if it's not calibrated, we'll help you tune it (the resistance written on the sticker is just a guide line as not all the mods read the same resistance)

it's a great deal including stems, take it

@Abysmal Vapor thanks a lot, cruising TCR limited to 60w the evic does an incredible job!

🤯 I forgot all about this. A vape that has everything, with the onboard flappy bird...

I hope it continues to work :science:

@GoldenBud Cool to see the D020 in action! Obtaining that piece was part of how I discovered this site, not entirely sure what happened to my D020 but it's a real legacy piece - wicked set up

Also that wooden stem is very nice. I need to sort out a similarly nice stem solution! I had a little play with loading glass joints and things back in the day but the best method I could find was with EQ baskets, which is also reminiscent of my early vaping days and is currently going down a treat

it's the dreamwood glow 18 stem, with a regular basket screen.. i clean the stem with 200ml of boiling water every few days and the taste is almost similar to glass

I'm not sure of the best place to ask this, there doesn't seem to be a Tubox specific sub. I don't see much about this unit, I now that the heater was upgraded and it became the tetrax. My question, is the Tubox still relevant? Is it a decent vape, does it give uniform extraction? I have the opportunity to buy 1 paired with a Wismec dual mod and several stems for probably around $150, would this be a decent deal? TIA

There actually is a thread, for the X, it is more active than this old thread, so you must have passed it when you were looking through the portables section...

Anyway yes still relevant still effective, the difference is that the tetra has the extra tube, so it's got a bit more power with the larger heater mask, primarily resulting in a more even extraction in my experience... No worries though, if you decide you want Tetra, he offers rebuilds, so you could send in your tubo to be upgraded whenever!

Still great extraction, depending on the load size, you might not need to stir, and the temp settings, still capable of one hitters through water easily...

I did see that other thread, I guess it is more appropriate there. I picked here as it had tubo in the name. I guess I still got results, and its not too far off, oh well. I appreciate everyone's responses. I'm going to go for it if I still can. Glad some of you busted out your forgotten pieces 😅

Yeah that thread used to be tuboX but I think it was renamed tetraX since that is how they are now made / sold, so you could make a case that posting about yours is on topic here since it is actually a Tubo and this thread is still for that (although my own tubo dual was one of the first tetra dual, which technically belong in here too lol)

Sad to say I quickly ran into the same issues with the 'atomizer not found' reported on the batt mod. Not entirely sure why, could just be a dodgy 510 deck... or maybe the wires have been damage by rotation or something.

Everything otherwise seems fine and consistent to when it was working.

Not had a good experience with any 510 mod product really.

But I really liked and miss the TUBOx.

one of the cables going inside the RDA atomizer got released. I wanted an immediate solution, sacrified my iHeat 510 RDA just to see if i can make it live again, @Abysmal Vapor building is not so much difficult ! ;) I am so happy but I failed to find the same RDA with only 2 screws online (in Aliexpress) , so if you can help... anybody, I'd appreciate that! (found only RDAs with 4 screws! not 2)
so glad that I made it happen, was so nervous dealing with the 510 building but it's not too bad...

works too strong even.. lol

@GoldenBud I am using divine tribe herb atty base for mine with two screw terminals, maybe tsunami 24 rda base or velocity 24 rd ,seems like plenty of space to hook the wires.

Have been enjoying my new addition, gotta a scare the other day, original tank got stuck (dropped my phone on top of it duh) try to pry it loose mouthpiece tip broke off, called emergency, thanks @Planethulk on discord! Removed mouthpiece with a couple of suggestions all good now with new sturdier looking blue tank stem! Can a stem version 2 be that much better🤔. I get better flavor vapor at my 163°C starting point. Happy happy joy joy😉
