Sticky Brick Labs Vaporizer

When I had a true combustion accident once in my runt... I probably went over board. Soaked all the glass pieces in iso. Pulled the screen out of the bowl, dumped it.

moist Q-tips to clean out the entire air/vapor path, btw, I was actually surprised how much build up gets down there below the screen and in the rest of the path. Not a major deal, but I think thats a big contributing factor to these holding onto a combustion taste.

anyways, I wiped out the whole interior with a damp q tip until it was coming out clean, scraped what I could, new screen, cleaned glass, let it dry and it was back to new pretty easily. Before that I couldnt even take a pull from it with an empty bowl, the ashtray taste was so noticeable. I wouldnt even have tried to use it before cleaning.

I have a Firefly OG, also an unregulated. convection vape and every now and then draw a little too deeply while applying some heat and there you go ... the firefly has the luxury of being able to be fully wiped down with ISO and after a few burn in cycles you're ok

Seems to me you can't avoid an occasional full or slight combustion especially with the added variable of a butane torch ... like @BrianTL said, I think scraping out that buildup below the screen is a necessity unfortunately ... kinda like an old wood pipe ... any worries about the vapor path between that area and the mouthpiece tube .... no way to clean that out right?

It's not a complicated vapor path at all. It is really pretty easy to get to with a wet q tip, if you wanted to run a pipe cleaner through it that would be pretty easy too I think. I think the wet q tip is fine, but there are all sorts of different cleaning methods one could come up with if you're creative.

Scraping out the build up I only found necessary after a serious combustion event. I've charred the load quite a few times, but that wasn't actual combustion. Close, but not quite the same. Charring is a non issue for me, its a little harsher hit to the throat but so recognizable I haven't gone from that to combustion once.

The one time I did combust, I was completely hammered and took the restrictor disk out. I think its actually rather difficult to combust if you take your time and learn the brick/torch combo.

I can absolutely avoid the slight or full combustion. I was just excited about my new vape and was passing it to friends. The first few times they hit it I was coaching them about how to use it, to the point where I thought they were getting annoyed. I pass to my friend, heavy herb smoker, and he has hit it a few times and didn’t combust. I thought that I don’t need to watch and coach people because they seem to have the hang of it. Then BAM! He combusts and doesn’t stop hitting the Runt until he was done. The guy was careless and doesn’t seem to realize that vaporizers are for NOT COMBUSTING but he doesn’t think of that and just kept hitting the piece while it burned. I’m pretty salty about it because after a lot of cotton swabbing with warm water, a day and a bunch of bowls, just recently today replaced and cleaned under screen..... I still have a lingering smell. I no longer share my vaporizers with him.

Thanks @BrianTL & @Toivarita ... You've restored my confidence ...

all a "go" for my Junior purchase in about a month ... hoping for some new SE offerings for Black Friday ...

Should've given him a whack off the head with the brick for that one ...

One of the cardinal rules is to stop right when you taste a hint of combustion ... same with the Dynavap... stop ... empty .... and immediately blow out all the smokey residue .... you can usually avoid a more deep clean that way

Absolutely, I follow that rule and tell other people the rule too. Yea he’s combusted my dynavap too. He such a nice guy but has the grossest, smelliest bowls for smoking and doesn’t retain the rules that I tell him about vaping or using my equipment.

I was planning to get a black Friday SB Junior ... you guys are really making me nervous about it ...
You will combust at some point, I think the greatness of keeping that connection.

Out of all of my Sticky Bricks never combusted, but then one day just kept ripping too far. I still don't get it, but I was doing something wrong.

I still have some lingering taste but I soaked the glass pieces and the screen, and even scrubbed the screen.

The intake hole/carb you can just run a dry q-tip and it will eventually stop coming out black.

My initial heatup and end of session have a little taste but definitely less than before. The middle part is all herb for me.

Not sure if this would work, but you could maybe get a dremel and spin it in the carb hole to polish clean a bit. As with anything, smell should eventually go away. Oddly, have a thought of throwing some used coffee grounds in it, but then it would taste / smell like coffee.

Costco near me has had at least half a pallet of 99% ISO 4 packs for $11.99 for months. I bought 100 alcohol swabs (prep pads) from there for $2. Worth a look if you haven't yet.

I'm surprised the Runt is better for you right now but whatever works. I always go put away the butane vapes when my throat is sore or I'm sick. Unless I pull out the Maxx and a hydrotube. Sometimes you just need that Stick Brick goodness.

I will have to check Costco. Yea it’s strange but I seem to be able to take smaller hits with the Runt where if I try that with my SSV then I will cough. I feel fine just can’t kick this cough.

@Cervical CBD when you get success i'm so happy haha

Pushing the screen back into the bowl wasn't too difficult. Still have some combust flavor but not as bad.

The screen pops out when I scrape it and it destroys it haha.

I'm super hesitant to bring out any of my nicer butane vapes (SBs, lotus) with friends for exactly that reason. I just end up resenting people, or am sitting next to them like a nervous overprotective mama bird when they hit stuff. Even with the dynavaps I tend to preheat it for the newbies ha...

Put me down for another in the same boat. It's not even that I'm hesitant, I just dont share anything that isn't dummy proof. It's a combo of not having the patience to teach and I know I'm gonna get annoyed if I have to clean combustion out lol so I just avoid it and hand out my TM to friends. Much simpler to explain.

My friends have had trouble with the concept of not holding onto a session style conduction vape like they do with joints when they're in the middle of telling a story... meanwhile I'm just staring at the device visualizing all the goodies being cooked away lol. No matter how many times I say you gotta hit it or pass it...

Whenever I have cough that won't go away I make sure to use water filtration for my vapour and I keep the water hot so it's steaming and my hits aren't as dry. Be careful if you make it really hot so you don't burn yourself. I'll also keep a glass of water handy and I take a sip after every draw at minimum.

I usually get a cough that'll linger for weeks but not this year so far thankfully.

Also a soothing hot tea goes very nicely with vaping/sore throats in general.

thanks for the tip. I don’t use water much but should. I find it easier to use a shorter whip when using my SSV with water. I haven’t tried the Runt...

Not really, I'm on my 2nd one... only changed the first one cause I combusted. You're supposed to change them when they start getting clogged, right? I found it to be such a pain in the ass to get the screen out I'm in no rush to go through that again lol.

Maybe grinding too fine? try a coarser grind it might slow down the clogging.

I got these, on a recommendation in this thread, for when I go through the included ones from SBL:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07M6QVG5Z/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's almost hard to put down my runt and use my other vapes at home. I've really been loving it around the house. I want to work in my Milaana more, and I have an underdog coming...but something about plopping down on the couch with some playoff baseball on TV, my runt and a torch is just extremely relaxing.
Is this the correct size? I’m going to order some as well as some for my Silver Surfer...not sure what size those are with the spherical ground glass. I think they’re .75...

Honestly I cant verify for sure because I still have yet to need to use one, but they were recommended by @nonamekevin I believe a while ago in this thread, and hes much more experienced with the Runt than I am, I'm pretty confident he wouldn't have posted the wrong size

I already own a SBJ for a couple of years now and i’m very satisfied with it but i was so tempted to try the other models so i got myself a Hydro Brick Maxx cherry and a Sticky Recycler Hydrotube and i’m very happy about my purchase :brow: The Glass feels nice and very sturdy. I will try it with other vapes too.
