The cup is the only bit that is somewhat confusing, it has my mind full of wonder.

I keep asking: why a drinking cup?

I am going to go into it with an open mind, as I don't think anyone on this team is going to release a half ass vaping device. [I hope it can rip a lung!]

But think outside the box, how many ways will you utilize that cup?

I don't now about a cup of water, but I can see myself slurping ramen noodles and vapor out of one of these... perhaps it may be more therapeutic to pot it with soil and grow a mini bonsai in the cup. Vape and chill lookin at a tree... or perhaps it may be most therapeutic to drop a Beta fish in there, vape and watch a fish.

...maybe I'll pass on the Beta. I sho don't want a big whiff of fish poop when taking a pull!

Have you heard about the boom on Mizar 5?
Between this and the Bello I think we can say cups are the new thing for vaping in 2020 maybe we will see artisanal exotic wood cup holders. At least I can be somewhat honest when I tell my parents my mood mats are just fancy coasters.

All this stuff reminds me of te awesome South Park season and game where the town gets a Whole Foods, the run-down neighborhood gets gentrified into "SoDoSoPa", the local dive bar switches from beer to wine, and the peep show advertises "artisanal strippers"

After a night out shopping, and eating; just take a few steps... and you're home.

I keep asking: why a drinking cup?

Probably cause the alternative version with the built in vibrator didn't score well in the focus group.

IMO the cup serves as a vehicle to normalize this device, it's something that every person in the world uses. I would put it in the same class as that Puffit vape that looked like an inhaler.

As for pairing beverages to boost the "entourage effect" while vaping, as mentioned on the website? Eh, I don't know how big that will really get.

edit: I went to the Design 1st and they actually won a "silver award" for Design for Public Awareness

  • Also part of the Design for Society category, this award acknowledges BOWLE’s unique approach to normalizing medical cannabis usage and reducing stigma through familiar design.
Which is interesting because that's pretty much exactly what it was saying to me.

However, I must address one very real issue about normalizing the use of cannabis. The device itself is one thing, and I can appreciate the idea; but I can say from lots of experience that no matter how discrete a vaporizer may look, everything changes when you pull out a big fat stinky sticky bud and start grinding it up in front of someone with a stigma against cannabis.

This is the same reason why prefilled vape cartridges are so popular, because the wax pens you have to load yourself invite stigma. I've been using legal prefilled cartridges for over ten years in my state, in that time I've owned and tested many, many load-as-you-go wax pens you load yourself, and from firsthand experience I've seen the way people react when you pull out a piece of wax and load it, versus pulling out a prefilled pen. Even if you're puffing on the same exact oil, the act of loading invites stigma. Guaranteed.

I'm curious what the seniors on the board think about the design, that's what they won a "gold medal" for.

IDA Gold Award: Design for Elders

  • Part of the Design for Society category, this award recognizes how BOWLE makes medical cannabis more accessible to seniors through an elegant, familiar, and intuitive design.
Again this is anecdotal but I know many, many seniors who use cannabis (honestly more that do than don't here in California - keep in mind we've had a medical program for over 20 years) and I honestly think the ones who already participate don't have much of a stigma. So that leaves convincing the ones with the most bias, which I think will continue to be a long road ahead.

I have actually thought for quite some time that vapes are really more in the category of home appliances and that once Fed legal we will be seeing them from Mr Coffee, Black and Decker, Kuerig...like that.

And, as a result, there will be more "shrink wrapped", kitchen appliance looking devices coming out.

I don't mind that it looks like a sleek appliance...something from Krups or like that.

But I don't get the fucking cup.

It will NOT be a bubbler....the config of the air flow doesn't seem to support that now or ever. So...the cup is just a prop to put on your vape to make it look not like a vape??? Maybe put some water lilies in it? haha

To me, the cup is just asinine but perhaps I'm missing something.

Sticks mentioned this in one of his vids....I sent him a message as I could not understand the name of the vape he mentioned at the time. But in the vid he said something to the effect that they either are pushing vape tech or that that vape was pretty good...cant recall the wording he used.....he just quickly mentioned it with a couple others and did not talk about it as Im sure a NDA is in effect.

Price....pretty high and that is not something I see users wanting any more....

I struggled to figure out what the cup of seltzer and fruit bits was for.....I kept waiting too see how it functioned as a bubbler.....but then reading here....da fug would i want that for...lol

If all that fancy cup can do is be drank from.....it's only purposeful use would be for ice cream!

Did you see my post above? It's alleged for modulating the "entourage effect" based on flavinoids, terpenes, and such from other sources like teas and muddled fruit.

LoLz - That was my initial reaction...I prefer to not have to sit straight up and hold my vape level so I don't spill my attached drink.

I'm not completely dismissing this vape. I'm open to being having my mind changed, but I can't think of a good reason that I would want my drink cup sitting on my vape while I use it.

lol...my struggling was before I read everything here.

oh.....and also if you need "entourage effects" with your vape......your herb sux. lol

You know what would be cool is if the cup had a lid and you could store your herb in there  looks like it would hold about a half ounce of CBD rich hemp.

I feel like that's probably the opposite of what they intended for this vape... But that would be pretty cool to me! Plus it solves a real problem - with a 1 second heat up, a nearby stash at all times will certainly be required. :D

Good to see the usual suspects in here! Since you guys know what's up, I'll be blunt...it's too soon for this thread. This vape was going to release soon, but the pandemic has it delayed by a few months. So, I don't want to get the hype train rolling too soon. About two months from now would be good. But that's nor your fault, so here's some deets...

With Jorge and Bruno involved, you know it's gonna be good. I'm in. If their names don't make you feel at ease, do some research.

There should only be about three to five of these out there in testers hands. Troy recently got one. I've had one for less than a year, and there's one other out there somewhere, I believe. So not a lot of info...

The cup - it's not a gimmick, trick, or a shot at stealth. It's an attempt to bring the vaporizer into normal, daily social situations without causing unnecessary distraction, and it works! Within an hour after I first met the maker and the vape, I was already deep in conversation, hitting the vape and enjoying my water, without the distraction of pulling out my vape, fiddling with parts, waiting for a heat up, or explaining how to use it.

It works because it's instant, on-demand convection that works. One-second heat-up time, with clouds on a long first pull, stirring not required. I first tried it last summer. After the Square shut down and Ghost latch issues, here was a vape that simply nailed it.

Now that I have one, the cup makes sense. Why doesn't the Mighty have a cup? Why don't all my vapes have cups? Fuck.

The downsides I see for some in this thread, are the bowl size and battery life. The bowl holds about 0.1 - 0.15 grams, and I get 4-6 bowls per charge, depending on the temps used. So it's not built for heavy hitters looking to take down a lot of herb at once. But it hits hard enough to satisfy!

Bottom line, I love it, and you guys know I'm all about the vapor. If you don't understand the cup, don't sweat it. It has a world class vaporizer under it that you're gonna want.

That's about all I can say for now (I'd love to talk for days about it), until we get closer to release. Keep an eye on it...it's legit.

make that bowl size 0.15 - 0.2 grams.

Fuck Yeah! Thanks for chiming in!

I've been on the edge of my seat and looking forward to more info!
Has the expected shipping date been changed due to the 'Rona?

Sticks what was the last vape you tested that you genuinely needed an explanation on how to use?
The Magic Flight Launch Box?

:D

Obviously I'm just joking, but I don't see any less parts to this sytem than any other vaporizer. What exactly did you mean there?

And I really don't see how pulling out a vape would ever be considered a distraction in the context of a stoner sesh circle. If we're talking conversational manners, it seems more polite to actually pay attention to the person speaking instead of trying to take a hit? And if it okay to take a hit, there was really no stigma to begin with.

Not trying to discredit your opinion in anyway, but I believe they are looking to impress my grandmother, not folks that own every vaporizer ever produced. No matter how many incredible vibrators the design company is responsible for, I still don't think the device itself is capable of crushing stigma. As soon as you pull out weed and their Potter brand grinder and start filling crucibles anybody with a preexisting cannabis bias is going to feel uncomfortable.

The bowl holds about 0.1 - 0.15 grams, and I get 4-6 bowls per charge, depending on the temps used.

Seems like quite a ways off from their advertised 12 sessions per charge, no? Why do you think you are seeing 33%-50% less capacity than stated figures?

One-second heat-up time, with clouds on a long first pull,

Can we assume the long pull is noted because its not actually at temp in one second?

Also can anybody figure out what this enlistment opportunity on their website is supposed to mean? I'm not hip on all the new internet marketing tactics but it seems like an open invitation enrollment for Astroturfing? Just show them your IG and Twitter handles to see if you "qualify" :hmm:

If this thing was $100 bucks, I'd be less critical. But 4 or 5 bowls and a cup and cup holder just isnt remotely worth $300. The blatant over price and heavy marketing to convince otherwise is kinda ridiculous.

The whole normalizing cannabis theory isnt going to be helped by this "design." That's just really, desperately, searching for a (original) feature that isnt helpful or needed.

Maybe add a fan to push vapor out. Or some aroma therapy . Or water filtration. Or storage for weed, grinder, accessories. Not new ideas . But palatable and actually USEFUL. Maybe make it a cup heater for coffee? Anything but a cup holder. I love cannabis but spent ABV and resin within a nose whiff of my drink is not attractive to me....

I'm not put off by the price one bit...

In fact, I can't begin to count how many $100-$200 vapes left me utterly disappointed.

When I think about it, I have had a number of $300+ vapes and they always deliver the goods... [except my Ghost, that only worked like 70% of the time].

I love you guys!

I won't speak to their marketing at all. Only the vape.

I don't expect anyone to get the cup thing. I didn't until I used it. But I do expect this group to have an open mind. We're cutting edge vaporists always trying new stuff here...everything about that requires an open mind!

The cup is endearing, and it blends well.

I am actually in for the cup. If you are going to do it, go all the way... what's a few bucks more to enjoy the piece to the fullest?

As you said in your previous post, my focus is on the designers and I know they are not putting out anything half ass. When these two guys come together, we are most definitely going to get medicated!
