Lots of vendors use a proprietary stem system that is specific to their vape, there is nothing unusual or necessarily wrong with that. I can certainly understand that there have been problems with the 19/22mm joints, especially given that we have seen examples of people giving bad advice (someone recommended that "a little force" can make an unsealing joint seal). The desire to not have "unnecessary" repair incidents, especially self inflicted ones, is a strong one and frankly a good one.

The standard joint was a bonus that I appreciated. It by itself was far from the main reason to use RBT vapes, and those other reasons still apply whatever he ends up doing with his stems.

Added: Incidentally, while bong makers may have started using standard GG joints in the 70s, the scientific community have been using them for over a century. They needed a way to create glass tubing for chemistry and distillation and various other uses of liquids and gasses and they needed standards so that glass from around the country and around the world would fit properly together. The bong industry took advantage for obvious reasons including not having to reinvent the wheel.

Obvious examples would include scenes of scientists working from the movie Frankenstein to Back to the future...

Between summers explaining and crbrguy post. Guess I can see the reason why he decided on this charge.

Did he happen to mention repairs? That's a concern since no longer need 2 milaana with the splinter etc.

One is in for repair and was planning on that as my keeper. But if glass is changed I like to keep the one that's going work with my stems.

Figure be months before seeing my repaired unit so guess I'll drop him a email see if can get a answer.

I really do like RBT products a lot. Sadly I break glass way too easy. With my hands getting worse RBT stuff is becoming to fragile for me. Already I have sent the Milaana's in for repairs 3 or maybe 4 times.

Hoping with the splinters lighter weight. It be harder to break the glass in it. Haven't heard of a glass breaking on a splinter. So hopefully won't have the same repair cost with splinter. Like I have had with the Millaana. Part of me still wants a splinter_Z :)

@HerbieVonVapster, you gotta email him to find out the status & tell him what size joint you want the repair to be made with. I'm sure he must have both available.

If I understand you correctly, you want to keep a 19/22mm Mi since it's backward compatible? But, if you go with the thicker German Glass, maybe you be able to avoid a breakage repeat with better quality glass, no? With CG, you always have to worry if the next time you tap it in just the wrong way, it'll break. There isn't any guaranteed quality between pieces. Even Ryan said that the specs were not consistent within the same mfr. run -- some joints would be a little undersized, some over.

Ryan has posted many pics on IG where the glass broke in the Splinter. I'm sure though if you broke the Splinter glass you could have it repaired with German Glass. And the Splinter Z will have the German Glass. I believe all the current ones going to Vapefiend have the GG.

See this vid. highlighting the quality difference.

I say go for a Splinter Z. Who knows, Ryan may never do a 2nd run, or not for a long time in between. And you know, you'll never have a problem selling the Splinter or Z 2nd-hand.

I'm using a gen3 at 41 watts. There is likely some variance in resistance from Splinter to Splinter. That is at least my baseless guess.

Thanks for your answer, so i guess i will go a little wild with the W... just don t want to damage anything. Just sucks to be on a T-Break right now - all this science i have to do :ko:

The problem was/is that IMGUR has blacklisted our forum so we have to use a browser addon or go through contortions to make items posted there visible. I just re posted your picture on tinypic.com which works well here.
@ Daweed44 [/ USER] A quel point la vapeur est-elle chaude avec cette courte tige courte? [/ CITATION]

the steam is a bit hot but looks a lot like the joints I smoke a lot

and the wooden end is blocked when it is hot it takes 5 minutes to remove it

I got my new run splinter last night. I think my screens were too big since I had to trim them to get them to fit inside the mouthpiece. Ryan said he will send me smaller screens.

I was running it on a Smok Alien at 33-35 watts and I was able to get decent extraction. Its very different from my Tera or Evo where I just pull steadily and get vapor. It felt like my underdog again.

Where do I buy adapters for the 19/19 joint? I would like to get a cooling mouthpiece or a long stem as well as something that would function as a WPA. Where do I purchase these 19/19 adapters?

Got my new splinter with the custom 510 RBT logo on the bottom today as a back up to my original waitlist model, loved my first one so much I needed a contingency plan if anything were to happen! :brow::rockon:

There’s a couple differences, the bottom is a rounded edge again instead of just a flat edge like my original, and the intake holes are probally an 1/8th inch or so higher towards the MP.

I can also confirm that MOST of my original Milaana/Splinter stems do not fit this new unit, however I do have a black and green stem sourced from Ryan for my Milaana that do fit with the screens installed, your mileage my vary but you could have a MP or two from Ryan’s original units that do fit.

Thanks that's what I love about FC even when moaning and groining about something. There's wisdoms here that helps give me another outlook. Thanks @Summer.

Guess I should email Ryan ask about my Milaana and what the new glass will be. Since I have a backup wasn't overly concerned about it. Ryan did say something about the one's in for repairs he 's not charging a fee. So really didn't want to be bother him. Maybe best just wait then decide when I get it back the one I will keep. Do really to sell it but it will allow someone else to enjoy a great vape. Plus with a splinter no longer need 2 milaanas.

I'm more disappointed that my body is breaking shit and frustrated that some of my nicer vapes are becoming usable. I'm really close to having to give up my switch really bummed about that one. The glass chain news was more an overreacted since this is more of a personally frustration issue than device problem.

Your also right been about the splinter_z. I love collecting vapes so might as well still grab one. I know I would regret it later if I passed. Still kick myself over passing on the Zoin years ago hehe.
The splinter is in my top 3 home vapes. With my choice's that says a lot on the quality of the vaporizer.

I just let the splinter have her turn on the new DNA250c mod well typing this. Butt ugly combo but the performance is top notch. Sprinters are great on a regular mod.
I find there even better with a DNA mod powering them. Vapor feels a tad cooler due to having no spikes in the heating. You end up getting those rich thick clouds without the extra hotness. :)

For sure email Ryan about the glass, he responds real fast these days;). I asked him to keep my OG splinter glass and screen the way it is for the repairs and he said no problem, now the only challenge is for him to remember:lol:. How’d U get your paranormal so fast, u ordered it after me:huh:. I guess we both got indecisive and had to make changes, if all goes well i’ll Have the silver pearl finish you gave up:D

Just watched Ryan's stream tonight. He was working on warranty repairs during it. And he showed the latest & what I believe is the final Splinter Z version. It's beautiful. The wood is thicker, it's back to the rounded bottom, & it has the all the Splinter upgrades: the schlott glass, the new 510 adaptor with the logo & brass screw. I'm hoping after the next Mi run, then it will be the Z's turn.

Who Is Nate?
I just got my Splinter and it's wonderful. Is this the correct spot to talk about third party stems and WPAs that are specific to the Splinter, or is that discussion held elsewhere?

Thanks!

Ordered one as they were back in stock on vapefiend. Added an extra mouth piece (green) that said it's for Milaana / Splinter. Now I have my fingers crossed that the green stem fits as there has been some variations?

So I can confirm that any of the the 19/22 mouthpieces will not work with the new splinters.

I'm feeling über dense here. If a 19/22 stem is used, and the stem joint is not pushed down flush with the 19/19 female then why wouldn't it fit? It should only be 3mm taller than the female. 19mm wide is 19mm wide, just don't push all the way down???

It will leave air gaps all around the outside of the male joint and won’t seal. I’ve tried with my finger covering the edges partially but it’s a miserable method

DAE think that the splinter gets you higher than other vapes? Or it just feels more medicinal... Maybe it has to do with the short air path and the high power of the heater?

I’m getting used to the practically zero draw resistance. I can run mine at about 34.5 watts, hit it like a blunt and mash on the button. The ABV is dark and toasty. I could never get ABV like this without a water setup of some type and pulling like hell on the Tera.

RBT vapes are a "full-on" experience yes. They are designed to organically temperature step up until you stop. You get everything at once, all the actives, so the effects feel stronger than with regulated vapes where you "distillate" the product in different fractions / levels.

(I'm using quotes because of course that's not an accurate description of what's happening, it's not a distillation process, just a comparison)
