Such a pretty Zion! Enjoy man, karmically earned
Had a few sessions with mine last night. Not that this is a revelation or anything, but I really, really, REALLY like this thing. I find myself feathering the air intake a bit, as I've said before (sort of a manual take on the tape hack) which yields big clouds.
It was quite a journey from start to finish, but I'm glad I took it.
Sweet, sweet, sweeeet! Great looking unit!
So you're saying VapeDr. sold you his Zion??? @Vape Dr. have you gotten sick?
Anyway, enjoy this wonderful beast. You now are the proud owner of one of 98 Zions ever made.
Did not know that few were made.
Still pinching myself as it is, and feel pretty fortunate to have this thing.
Love everything about my Zion, it truly is a beast.
Not sure why the good Dr sold it, but I'm sure he's got himself covered. His current vapes occupying his session time are from the future I'm guessing.
I've been wanting to post about the glorious return of my #104 Zion, but have been just so busy this weekend
On Friday I received it back with a nice, handwritten note from Ryan stating that the heater was in spec, but was low so it was replaced anyway.... It feels like a new vape to me. Part of my issue was still my draw speed, but only slightly. I've since lowered my draw speed a bit unless I carb with a finger.
Really can't thank @RastaBuddhaTao enough for being willing to let me send it in and taking care of it before the big move. He also included a matching Cobalt stem for the wait and two of the rimmed RBT screens. Unfortunately the stem took a little bit of a beating on the way here and has a slight chip at the mouth end, but I was planning on making it a medium stem regardless since my original broke after trying to install a screen from the top ( I was using the Zion and it seemed like a great idea at the time....)
I don't know if it was fixed as it wasn't mentioned, but the battery door is also no longer easily opening just from holding. Maybe it was a humidity issue? I dunno, it wasn't with me long before I shipped it off.
I haven't been turning on my FlowerPot Showerhead much since I got it back. I'm just in love with this vape. I love the form factor, I love the styling... I just love everything about it. So glad to have it back and doubt I'll be putting it down any time soon!
Very glad you got it back and you love it. They are wonderful vapes, and quit exclusive...
Love this beautiful beast. When I love something, I accessorize.
Got this beautiful Curly Koa stem from @Ed's TnT
Love the detail and the curl in the grain is almost holographic when you rotate the stem at different angles.
Great combo ya got there, thanks for sharing and I hope you enjoy it for a long time to come.
What'd it get discontinued? I realize it must be back there somewhere.
Too complex and costly to build, part unavailable
Not to rub it in but I’ve been using my Zion daily but only while out and about. It’s a stone face killer. At least it is how I run her. I’ll always love my Zion. I tried to get a different portable that wasn’t a stem load convection (that still needs to be sent back) that came close to competing with the Zion. At least it could with the output of the Zion but not flavor and not as on demand as the Zion truly is.
Beautiful as is all of Ed's work. But was it designed specifically for the zion?
No, this was ordered for my Milaana before I had scored my Zion. So it does not slide into the stem carrying hole, it hits at the middle decorative grooves.
Alright I am shipping off my second Zion (early production body with thin front wall and some other rough bits, redesigned heater but no turbulator or any of the finalized newer parts/processes, it was sent with Ziggy's tuned hot/fast second coming and was tuned cold/slow for testing purposes) to an old friend who first got me into vaping with a Thermovape and created the monster you see before you... So I am finally getting some group family shots together with all four in their received order before the collection dwindles to a mere three:
Left to right we have Ziggy Sawdust (the OG redone with clear glass newer heater tuned super hot/fast with old beta body #4), then with a custom cut down smooth joint 18-14mm stem from JoDa is the artist formerly known as Zenon the Zequel who will soon be rechristened Zap BrainAgain I believe/hope, then after that is the finalized production model #69 with all the trimmings who will now be known as Zenon the Zequel proper with green glass just like my OG Zig but runs a little slow yet smooth with amazing vapor quality, then finally on the right end is the spalted capnand blue glass finalized model #150 running as it should for perfect controlled vapor across the dial with the appropriately sexy name Zsa Zsa Vapoor
The custom color stems you see here that I have also been meaning to share here for a while are from @mistvaporizer and his glass-working friend (check out the bubbler and 14mm stems they made too!) and they are an ideal I have been searching for ever since my early beta Zion days 2.5years ago... Love love love them!
The medium amber male to male has a 14mm tip and can fit loose in the storage slot (though its a little tall so not quite as secure as the clear one, it does fit RBT screens perfectly, unlike that one which can be a struggle as a cut down iso joint). The amber bent stem was imperfect but works perfectly for me, nice narrow mouthpiece and cool ergonomic shape, the angle smooths vapor well, but joint ID is a little wide so need wide RBT screens but they can fit mostly secure with a little glass rim as I like. The blue bent stem has a mouthpiece closer to stock but slightly narrower, still nice if not quite as nice as the amber, but it does have a normal joint ID and fits RBT screens perfectly secure with little glass rim, however it is so secure that I cannot get it out really since bent stem means no dowel to come from other end... So that one I just need to stay more on top of the cleaning, iso shaking the whole stem and rinsing with hot water. They all fit RBT vapes perfectly with the right 18.8/22mm size joints and are such a treat to use. Literally just like my color RBT stems only GonGed or bent making them even better! Expect to see more of them, likely in Zsa Zsa
They are beautiful. I'm trying to decide whether to have a butane clearance since I don't use butane anymore. But I love looking at my zion and daisy with my other wood vapes.
Zion is still my DD that I grab leaving the house, but I do rotate at home and use my wood/glass butane vapes quite a bit too for that special signature. Though I pretty much only use them (HydroBrick, DLX-M, Essence) through water, while my Zion use almost entirely dry honestly
@SloJimFizz that is fucking sick, in a most excellent way!
You take the zion with you? It's the largest wood vape I own- even larger than my logs. How do you carry it?
I need to spend some time with my Zion and work on my technique. I’m still getting bigger hits with my Milaana, and have no idea why?
I'd say try turning Zion up from the get go, even at max, and give it a 5sec preheat cycle before starting your session or hits from cold too
I honestly haven't used my Zion since getting the Mi2 and Splinter. Pretty ridiculous it's come to that lol. Unfortunately, both Mi2 and Splinter need to be sent to RBT for repair in April when shop is open, so I'll use that time to bring out some toys. Zion probably. GH maybe, haven't used it in months n months. But during the repair time the Zi will probably be the daily.
I wonder how you ended up with so many zions. Even when produced they were pretty hard to get weren't they?
From beta testing, the first two are rough cuts and from well before the actual production finally got rolling, after way back when I was one of the first to pre order at $150. The new one #69 off the production line I bought from an early pre order, friend of a member here who reached out to me (I had originally pre ordered a new one from RBT in the last batch at high cost but decided to switch it to an exotic Milaana and Splinter pre order after a snag, so jumped at the opportunity to grab one later at the same high cost here...) and since it was a little slow I sent it in to RBT. Of course it was working perfectly fine as all mine have been, tested in spec and was producing amazing vapor nevertheless. But when RBT sent it back to me he threw in a spare blue glass spalt cap, #150 one of the final Zions made, running more standard despite a rougher body than #69 (which really is superficially flawless). I imagine that one was originally intended for another zteam member who maybe has since moved on from herb/vapes and/or was impossible to get in contact with anymore (there were a few like that) as each member was to get a new finalized Zion to compliment their beta. The first five got them when you got yours the first time, but then we had that other big long pause after you and the other two first non zteamer users discovered new issues. Since my second unit (the one I just sent to my friend, that arrived along with revived anew OG beta Ziggy) was one of the first built with the production body, it was also quite rough in many ways as I've mentioned so it was more of a beta really. So all said and done I kind of ended up with two beta Zions for my initial purchase of one, then two final production units for the price of one
Edit: damn page 300, fitting that its a trip down memory lane too, these Zions tell a story and it is all posted here in this massive sacred tome
Like @Shit Snacks my Zion gets used daily. Well, I only have 1 to choose from, so not quite like him.
Thanks @mucsusn Love that stem.
@MAbud ride the button and feather that carb a tad.
Never thought to feather the carb...will try that
