Why are Bags the least preferred method on FC?

I'm curious as to why FC seems opposed to them in general. I realize that they lose their potency after 10-20 minutes, but besides that, what are the downsides as opposed to using a bong or whip? Are they less efficient? I haven't used a whip before so I can't comment, but I enjoyed the bag method, it was flavorful and cool. That being said, i've only used a bag vape so I don't know how it compares to the others. I'm thinking of getting a desktop in the future so I figured I'd do some pre-emptive research.

Bag or whip are not the only two choices, I'm not a fan of either.
I much prefer any vape that has little to no synthetic materials in the airpath. Like a good direct-draw desktop vaporizer.

I wouldn't say they just lose potency JUST after ten minutes.. even 1-2 minutes there has to be a decent amount of condensation/stale vapor compared to taking that same amount of vapor directly into your lungs from the bowl.

Honestly another reason bags annoy a lot of people is the *crinkle crinkle* of the bag. Almost like those sunchip biodegradable bags...too loud! (Might be corrected on this if there's a different bag material that isn't as loud)

I think bags are excellent if you are clumsy, have a low tolerance, vape in groups often, or if you're not an ex-smoker(where you might find the bags not rich/dense enough)

Yeah, I agree with haze. For many, including myself, the shortest path (to a point) and the cleanest vapor path from the vape to my lungs is what I am after. Bags have a huge inner surface area for condensation to take place, so using up that bag as quickly as possible to prevent loss of potency and taste is recommended. I can't begin to tell ya how many times I have filled a bag only to not want to finish it because I had enough.

Secondly is the high air to vapor ratio that typically exists in vapes that use a bag as a delivery system. If one ones to lower that air to vapor ratio, you gotta turn up the heat, which then causes the vapor to taste harsh as well as introducing more toxins.

I went through 3 times the amount of weed using a bag as I did with my direct draw vape.

But man, as a party vape, bags are about as idiot proof as can be.

Bags are nice, and really good in a group setting. I tend to prefer whips because they are more controllable, I can modulate the thickness of vapor based on my own inhalation. Also, they are more adaptable, you can plug them into a water Peirce with an adapter, though many bags can also be adapted to bubblers. And, there are vapes coming out now that plug directly into the stand ground joint sizes, of which many people are big fans.

Also, with the non bag options, the vapor seems of a better flavor, Imo. The bags have some flavor, but the whips and other similar methods have very strong flavor. A whip plugged into a bubbler cools off the vapor while giving a very strong flavor, and I imagine this is even more so true of vapes you plug straight into your water piece.

And lastly, for me, bags make me cough more. Don't know why, and I do not think this is indicative of the community, but bags firmly make me cough more.

I was a strong volcano supporter but after a couple months of getting used to direct drawing and amazing vap bonging with my MV, the volcano now stays unused and powered off in the corner.
If using balloons, I would recommend trying to inflate less than what you're used to do. I don't used more product with balloons

While you can certainly infer that bag fill isn't as popular with the majority of members as the various forms of direct draw, I definitely wouldn't agree that most are opposed to bag fillers. They just prefer models that provide more user control over vapor density. With a bag filler every hit from a particular bag of vapor is pretty much the same. It's easier, but most people who enjoy the process (include most FC members here), get bored with bags. It's still the best system for groups/newbies, but most vaporists aren't going to buy on the basis of which model is best for groups.

There's a definite tendency to 'load up' with bag fillers and use more. It's not that you need to do so, it's just psychological. I too, used a lot more herb when I used a bag vape on a regular basis.

It's just that the vapor in the bag was sooooo wispy (high air to vapor ratio), I found the only way to decrease that ratio was to either crank the temp up or load the bowl with more bud.

I also used more bud due to waste due to not wanting to finish a bag along with the extra condensation that takes place from the large surface area inside that bag.

While I agree that some of it is psychological, I don't think all of it is.

Nobody tries to inflate less  If you don't finish you balloon or are not satisfied about density, stop diluting it by adding more hot air through your already vaped material, adding a popcorn taste and no actives. Using dryer material helps to get immediate vapors and reducing the inflating time.

Max, there are still a lot of variables when vaping with a bag
I agree that it is not the best for a single experienced user that don't want to mix up everything

Yeah, I tried that, but it was really a hit or miss proposition. For me, bags just wasn't the way to go. Not only wasn't it an efficient way to vape, it didn't taste all that great nor did I like the idea of sucking vapor out of a plastic bag. MUCH prefer to take my vapor from glass using as much of an all glass vapor path as I can and also like the control that I can get from each hit that is impossible for me to do with bags.

I can't agree more with that, my volcano is left unplugged in a corner ;)
Direct drawing through glass is my favorite way to get medicated now

Just saying that you can get really thick balloons with small amounts.

Bag's just never done it for me.

When I first got my EQ I was having difficulty getting it right, and was advised from the guy's on the EQ thread to use the bags...I tried it for a day or so and was still getting wispy vapor so I went back to the whip.
I just think the whip is better, for me at least.

its about taste imo direct draw vapes have a stronger taste over bags.

I am using my cano right now, but that's only until my lsv arrives :p (if my cloud wasn't broken I'd be hitting that.)

Not compared to using your own lungs instead of a fan/pump.

If you have a bag vape with only one fan/pump speed, the only way to get thick vapor with a small amount of herb is to use a small bag or possibly crank up the temp into the harsh, high temp vapor range.
