Tesla worker filmed allegedly sleeping with Autopilot active
That's not a good look.

JUNE 8, 2018 10:47 AM PDT

YouTube user Mike Cagulada posted a video Thursday that allegedly shows a Teslaemployee asleep at the wheel of a Tesla mobile service vehicle while the vehicle drove down the road, presumably on Autopilot, near Tesla's operations in Fremont, California.

The video sure makes it look like he's asleep, but there's no firm proof that this is the case. He could well be suffering from a medical issue instead of just taking a snooze. It's not a very long video, and it's unclear just how long this was happening.

"We take safety very seriously and are investigating this incident," said a Tesla spokesperson via text message.

Tesla has received plenty of flak in recent months for how easy it is to bypass some of the safeguards in its Autopilot system (Autopilot Buddy, anyone?), and you'd think the company would make extra sure that its system was being used as safely as possible, but this employee may not have received the memo.

Autopilot is capable of holding the vehicle in its lane and keeping up with traffic on highways. The system still requires the full attention of the person behind the wheel, because it could pass control back to the driver at a moment's notice. It has the capability to help make roads safer, so long as it's used in its intended manner.

Florida Man Tries To Salvage Terrible Week, Asks Cops To Test His Meth For Contamination

The particular incarnation of Florida Man you see above is Douglas Peter Kelly, of the northern Florida community of Hawthorne, who suspected he may have purchased some tainted methamphetamine, because after he bought it a week or so back, he had what he said was a "bad reaction" when he smoked it.

On Tuesday -- which means he'd had some time to think this all over -- Mr. Kelly contacted the Putnam County Sheriff's office and said he suspected that because of the "violent reaction" he'd had, he believed that what he'd been sold was either the wrong drug, or at least not the good, wholesome meth he'd bargained for, and could the drug lab please test the stuff for him? If he'd been sold tainted goods, he said, he wanted to press charges against the dastardly fraud who'd sold him counterfeit meth.

Snowden, Assange and Manning statues unveiled in Berlin
By Joanna Gill

Taking a stand in Berlin's Alexanderplatz are whistleblowers Chelsea Manning, Julian Assange and Edward Snowden. The life-size bronze statues were unveiled on Friday in front of members of the German Green Party as well as activists.

All three figures are considered heroes on the political left for leaking US intelligence documents.

The artist behind the work, Italian sculptor Davide Dormino, explains that he wanted to "represent three contemporary heroes who have lost their freedom for the truth". He says that they act as a reminder of "how important it is to know the truth and have the courage to know the truth."

The sculptures represent three contemporary heroes who have lost their freedom for the truth.

The life-size bronze statues were unveiled on Friday in front of members of the German Green Party as well as activists.

All three figures are considered heroes on the political left for leaking US intelligence documents.

The artist behind the work Italian sculptor Davide Dormino explains that he wanted to “represent three contemporary heroes who have lost their freedom for the truth.” He says that they act as a reminder of “how important it is to know the truth and have the courage to know the truth.”

Entitled Anything to Say the sculpture encourages supporters to stand up for freedom of speech and information.

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange faces extradition to Sweden to face investigation into accusations of rape and sexual assault, but fears he will be extradited to the US to face questions over his role in leaking secret US documents. He has taken asylum in Ecuador’s London Embassy. US soldier Chelsea Manning (born Bradley Manning) was convicted in 2013 on charges relating to the Espionage Act for leaking US intelligence and military documents to Wikileaks. She is currently serving a 35 year prison sentence. Edward Snowden is currently evading extradition to the US by taking asylum in Russia. He released classified information from the National Security Agency (NSA) to journalists revealing the scale of the US government’s global surveillance capabilities.

Their statues will have fewer restrictions on their movements with a scheduled world tour.

If you are in Berlin the sculptures can be found here at Die ökologische Kulturoase .

A mom went to visit her son in jail. The outcome was not what she expected.

A mother who missed her son went to go visit him in jail on Thursday. The outcome was not what she expected, reports NBC-2.

But at least they can be closer together.

Jennifer Dilan, 38, was arrested at the Lee County Jail, her 12th arrest in Florida in 11 years. When she produced her identification at the entrance, officials quickly discovered there was an active felony warrant for her arrest.

PayPal Apologizes for Letter Demanding Payment From Woman Who Died of Cancer
Three weeks after a British man told PayPal that his wife had died at 37 and that her credit account should be closed, he opened a letter from the company: Her death, it seemed, was in violation of the company’s contract rules.

“You are in breach of condition 15.4(c) of your agreement with PayPal Credit as we have received notice that you are deceased,” said the July 10 letter to the woman, Lindsay Durdle, who had died of breast cancer on May 31.
