    OK, so we now have our own wiki to use. www.vaporpedia.com

    This forum is great for discussion, but when you want specific information, sometimes it's hard to find it in a 10 page thread that goes all over the place.

    That's where I think a wiki will fit in perfectly. Basically a place to compile all our best information, guides, etc. Somewhere to point a newbie who is hungry for good info.

    It's using the same software as Wikipedia, and is really easy to edit once you get the hang of it. The hardest part is actually writing the articles, but you can just add a sentence here and there, fix a mistake, etc. It's a collaborative effort.

    You don't have to register to edit/add articles, but if you don't, your IP address will show up on the edit history.

    If you want to read more about how the software works, check out this link on wikipedia.

    If you don't know what a wiki is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki

    Yes, it's pretty bare right now, still trying to figure out the best format for things like model pages, but the whole point of a wiki is collaboration, so might as well just make it public right now.

    So, don't be afraid to try it, if you fuck up a page, it's simple to roll back to the last revision.

    Nice!

    If you get a chance, check out the talk page on all vapes http://www.vaporpedia.com/wiki/Talk:All_Vaporizers , see if you have any ideas on formatting for the model pages. I mean, not all of them will have all that info, but still. Once we have it nailed down we can make templates to use so you don't have to type out everything each time.

    Yeah I had a look >>> http://www.vaporpedia.com/wiki/Talk:All_Vaporizers last night when I did my first update. I was going to use that as a template but actually liked the free form method used for the SSV etc.

    But in saying that a template would be good to cut down on the typing and keeping it ina standard format. I didn't see all the options necessary. I'll have a play with it later :cool:

    Excellent Vtac. Can you link the wiki up next to the chat room in the forum nav?
    Being quite familiar with wiki process / syntax, I will contribute some this evening.

    I finally got around to looking for this thread. I knew it had to be here.

    Not sure anymore which entry had the basic format I have been adding but here it is:

    * Type
    * Heat source
    * MSRP
    * Made in
    * Website
    * Warranty
    * Additional features
    * Nicknames

    I've been adding this at the beginning of the entry for each vaporizer, but I haven't gotten too far yet. (Okay so there are only half a dozen or so right now, but I'm working on it...) If there are additions, corrections, whatever to this template then let's hear them before I get too far.

    A lot of the vaporizers in the "complete list" don't have an individual entry so I was hoping that I (or we with your help) could at least gather that much information on each vape. gim, we need to talk.

    Bump.

    To remind everyone of FC's sister site. And if you register and edit the contents, you get +150 Karma Points per line of text, plus a bonus +50 for each of the first 10 lines of any new article.

    While I know a bump for bumping sake is frowned upon here I think this was well worth it Qbit! Hope people are still looking to Vaporpedia as a resource!

    This is really a brilliant idea, nothing better than having all the information about every vape in one place. I'll be checking back frequently to watch it's development as more vaporizers are added.

    Mind you this thread is over 3 years old. I'm guessing a lot of people never notice the link at the top of FC's pages, or check it if they do. And since this thread isn't sticky (maybe it could be?) they never discover the wondeful world of Vaporpedia.

    There have been lots of great contributions to the wiki (thankyou, on behalf of me), but it can always use more. There's still some important topics with minimal information, or with no entry at all (no Volcano?? Not much on the SSV - I could do that maybe, though I haven't had mine for long). But yeah, it's bit by bit developing into a very healthy resource.

    I've not had much time over the summer to add or update much, but I do hope to do more work on it in the near future. I'm ready to edit (i.e. standardize) entries so no one should feel intimidated by the wiki mark-up. Just leave plain text, let me know, and I will do the mark-up. You don't even have to register, you can just send me text or point to a post here that contains the information. We could use more pictures too.

    Edited to make the table pretty...

    I send people links to the wiki pages often. It is a great resource :) The folks I point towards a LB and the wiki...all end up happy campers.

    From the Solo thread:

    The short answer is yes, it's easy.

    The long answer is that I and the other maintainers (okay, that other guy) stopped adding model specific links to the main page because it isn't fair to add links for only some models. In fact, your question reminded me to go and strip out the existing links, which I just did.

    Some might disagree with this, and that's fine. Let's discuss it. I welcome other opinions and as always, I encourage people to get a Vaporpedia login and make their own entries and edits.

    Makes sense to me. It is fairer to have no model specific links at all as that way no one would think that Vaporpedia is one of those fake review sites that only rates the vapes that it sells. Good move.

    cool that was confusing to me as a novice. Wasn't sure since some models were listed on the front page and some weren't. I didn't realize till last week the solo had a page. I had been there to read about the EQ 4.0 and MFLB before. I want to contribute an omicron entry and add some info on the arizer solo. and maybe the eclipse vaaap pipe.

    I can say the info on the MFLB and EQ 4.0 were a huge help to me as a noob last year.

    Yeah, good work Pakalolo. :)

    However, there's still the 'How to use the Extreme vaporizer' article on the Main page, which is totally out of place. Why should that vape have a 'featured article'?
