I will say, the video of how they make these little guys, really makes me appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into each one. May have to pick one up just for fun in the New Year when my funds replenish :D

I find holding and playing with it is like with MFLB or TV products, as you examine it closely you're taken by not only the precision and high quality of construction but also on the design details. Like how the 3 little 'arms' that hold the "Pan" up for you to heat it with your lighter are actually tiny tubes crimped into the copper of the pan (their term) that are the air intakes (being hollow) to sweep the vapors out and into you. They're held in by tiny clamp blocks with tiny screws like a fancy pocket watch. Swiss you know. And likewise the mica insulation (cool itself) is held in by a dozen or so of the same bitty screws into the Pear wood body. Pear wood, how cool is that? Ever know anything else made of Pear wood? Switzerland is resource poor you know, if it doesn't grow there (not much does as I understand it) you have to import it as a raw material.

There's also another interesting option, there's a cheaper version. The same unit with no mica or finish. A little light sanding and some linseed oil fixes the latter and it turns out he heat shield isn't really necessary if you're OK with a little char on the Pear wood (it stops after a bit). It's about $20 cheaper here, but you can buy directly from the factory and get excellent pricing and fast (cheap) shipping. The Swiss can be a very frugal lot, not in the same class with the Dutch, of course, but serious contenders with the Scotts. Lots of cool bit available for it as well, including Ebony and Hawthorne (of all things) stems!:

Also order a couple of these lighters, the same thing Vapman sells but for a lot less money. Fast free shipping too. Handy little guys, recommended in their own right:

I like taking mine out to the garden to leisurely enjoy a 'pan' while watching the birds and enjoying the day (and the cats) vaping a tiny pinch of bud over many minutes. It can be a very satisfying break and time for thought and enjoyment of simple things.

IMO a fun little gadget. Recommended.

Excellent feedback, OF. I greatly appreciate the time you took  I was kind of wondering about the Pear wood myself. Don't mind the charring...as long as it smells like caramelized Pears...any chance?:D

You're welcome, I'm hoping to help others to make more informed decisions here. Hopefully, we get that too?

Mine hasn't charred enough to smell I guess? The unit does smell faintly of the loving service it's delivered of course. I really think the finished version with the mica is super, but for folks on serious budgets (seems to be the really 'in thing' these days....) the unfinished one is a great option. Unfinished makes it sound like it's not good to go, which is not the case. It's just a reduced cost option as I see it.

In a way I expect it to take on more character over time, I may well end up liking it better?

Dang it, I couldn't wait (my upcoming birthday was an excuse :D) Just ordered the shielded version from their website with a black mouthpiece. I just love hand made products like this, so I am excited to give it a try!

Edit: You were right...the price is actually better direct from them!

Cool, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Yeah, ain't that a hoot about price? What amazes me more is how the unfinished one has a much smaller price advantage over here. Stuff gets here fast and funny as it sounds, even the box it came in was kind of neat.

I hope the waiting passes quickly.

Well i played some more with it. At lunch i took my infared temp gun from the tool box and sacrificed a bit of herb to test out bowl temps. I measured the inside of the bowl where the herb sits. Seems this was pretty accurate. Obviously the temps jump alot and goes down pretty fast. But i can see the max temp since the gun shows last max temp. I consistantly get some visible vapor at about 250f and up. though mid to upper 200s are very thin and only get a small amount before no vapor. i can tell thc is releasing before 300 easily. I can feel those 200s hits. i take the mp off fast and shoot the herb/bowl. the underside isnt worth measuring. its not where the bud sits. at 320 theres nice vapor. if you hit 380 right away from the start vapor escapes the vapman all over lol. but it still cooks it and doesnt burn at all. the hits are so damn smooooth at 380. if not your doing something wrong imo. those 3 mp holes are awesome. it cools it alot apparantly. and they are very visible at 320 ++. blocking would be pointless. its efficient and works perfect as is. It gets 2-4 hits once your up in temps 380+ starting with some lower ones first. i like to get some low temp hits. at the same time the lower temp hits help build heat abd temps stabalize a bit. now to get thick higher temp hits add some time to the lighter and your there. Its very dark brown close to blackish when done. i burned some bud on a quarter on purpose.....and you cant miss that smoke smell. it leaves a greyish ash when it burns. i purposely burned a bit in the vapman with mp off. stopped as soon as it smoked some. SMELLS. got the gun out and shot it. 460 was the high but could of been a bit higher. the bud was greyish. its pretty resistant to burn. but with mp on you got to remember it takes less to heat up once at temp. for me only 3 seconds bring it back to 380 after a hit if not less. with practice you get to know the temps or atleast get close. Its a good vape. Never have to stir really after the loads done

Wow sorry for the typos. Phone typing sucks.

Forget that part, the information got through, great report. Thanks very much.

I agree, it's easy (and IMO) pleasant to bump it back up the right amount. You get into a rhythm of vape and heat that becomes self regulating I think. You know about how much heat to add when the right time comes and you automatically tweak that a bit based on last hit (a bit more heat if it was weak, less if it seemed too harsh).

I have several of the same (cheap) torch lighters around. The other day I grabbed one without realizing how much hotter it was. It didn't sink in on the 'from cold extra warm up heat' of course, and the first toke is usually pretty lame but that part didn't register with me either...... With a 'hey, this is a neat strain' I gave it the usual heat bump and got right to the edge of combustion.

Lucky miss, IMO, I'd set myself up good and proper.

Thanks again for the report.

Yes, thank you! I can't wait to play around with mine...hopefully it shows up soon. Can anyone give me an idea of delivery time from their website? Did you get any shipping confirmation?

You're welcome. I don't recall any notice, it came fairly quickly IIRC, I was surprised.

Good luck, I'm betting you like it.

I guess i feel like adding more about plugging the 3 holes and using less heat to get thicker vapor. I wouldnt worry about the coating. It shouldnt be heated more than 450. At that point it crosses to smoke and you can smell and taste it. Even then thats still much lower than the boiling point of the coating. I can get a lot of hits at low temps and thin vapor. Thats because its only in the low 300s for bowl temp. I think most will find the holes usefull once you heat it up to a good vaporizing temp (350-400. Anywhere in that range i get thick vapor. With plugged holes and those temps, id imagine itd be a bit hot and harsh. I combusted when i first got it. The mp smelled so i took the screen off and rubbed with iso. Then i carefully torched it and the black soot and smell went away. It left the screen a tan color though. I did the same with the mp where the screen goes on. Just a bit of torch from far to get that smell gone from the wood. Came out good and dont plan on burning it again.

Just got this little guy in the mail...so nice! It really is the size of an egg, and very well made. Some slight modifications in design...vapman is no longer on the side of the case, and it simply says vapman on the wood, rather than element. Nothing that makes any difference, but thought I would mention it.

I ordered an extra mouthpiece in black, and the case in blue. After a few tries (and burnt fingers) I had this thing down and it was alot of fun and effective! I have some pics that I will try and post later on if I get a chance.

Cool. Its element dont hate lol. That must be a pretty new change. If you have time to mess with it, even 3 bowls is less than .1g so its not like thats alot if someone said 1 wasnt enough. For im happy with 1. Havent tried 2 or 3 on it. Id imagine youd be pretty up their with low to moderate tollerance

Thanks for the correction! It is such a fun little unit, but it does get hot! I don't think my lighter is proper for it (3 flame torch) so I ordered some cheap single flame torches. I only combusted once so far, but I was pushing it on purpose.

I could see taking this little guy on a hike!

It's a great vape, I just wish the bowl wasn't so goddamn small.

Remember that your MFLB and Vapman mouthpieces are interchangeable, which is pretty cool.

Hey Hey people,

its been some time since I visit FC .
I purchase the vapman, almost exactly 10 months ago. I will share experience and perhaps photos.

In a nutshell, I'm still very pleased with my purchase. Used it inside, outside in the yard, out hiking LOTS of places :)

mine is the "naked" version lol and as such see NO good reason to buy the "finished" one.

a few times I "smoked" with friends and boy howdy what a difference between the draws. needless to say I am a vapeman forever more lol fuck combustion.

OF good to see your still around my good man :)

In deciding my very first vap purchase I read through MANY threads here and nearly went with a few other units instead of the vapman. For me, I am 100% thrilled with my decision to purchase a vapman first.

This forum is a GREAT resource for those seeking knowledge in this particular area of enjoyment of 1 of God's many blessings :) LONG LIVE FC

not much time this time of year but as said I will stop in when I can and share my experience , some "wear" photos and perhaps even help someone in the process, perhaps not lol but it feels good to think it so, anyway :)

and yes also catch up on what has changed in "the market" in these many months that have passed. I be lying if I said I'm not checking it all out .

@VaporNinja hope to see you around at bit mate.

Peace and Love , and a Happy HO HO fuckin' HO to one and all ;)

Howdy Stone Man! Great to hear from you, thanks very much for the update. I gotta agree, Vapman is a fun and very functional little vape.

Very frugal (Swiss you know...), a very 'Steam Punk' kind of thing.....the sort of vape you'd expect Dr. Seuss to draw the Who's enjoying after a big Christmas dinner.

I've always wanted one of these and finally got the chance to pick one up on the Classifieds (Thanks CDS).

Very cool little device indeed. I'm really impressed by the build quality. Gotta love the Swiss and their attention to detail. It makes me cough like many other portables, so I know it's working.

I'm glad to have this new addition to my quiver.

:peace:

Edit: OF's "Steam Punk" comment is dead on. It's probably the most "steampunky" thing I've ever seen.

Have you tried it attached to glass yet? It's alot of fun that way too...just invert it into the downstem.

No, not yet. But it sure seems like a reasonable idea. Be right back...

:peace:

Edit: Worked suprisingly well. :brow: There is definitely some skill required, but decent vapor can be had with this thing from such a teeny load.

Hello all, new to the board: Although I have been reading it a bunch, great resource.

Im a new user to the vapman pure. I got it because of the health effects of vaping. Im still not very good with it, I managed to burn a tiny bit of the wood causing it to smoke and burn hehe. I've been torching it too closely.

However I do not see myself using it too much, because apparently my throat gets super dry and a bit swollen after use, maybe because of the heat im not sure. I could try a tube extension.

I clogged 2 of the holes for bigger clouds hehe, I was very medicated after I got to it properly. I think its a good vape but, I would opt for the Micah version if you can! The heatshield will prevent burning I believe which inturn will smell better around you if you're using it indoors. The vapour taste is pretty darn good, comparable to high end vapes but ofcourse you have to master it , which I havent to get consistancy. Im not sure why my throat is so swollen after it though. Its definitely worth the price if it works well for you!

Just a question though, I have the non-shielded version, and there is some smoke coming from the inside wood everytime I get it up to temperature for those clouds, do yout hink I could be inhaling some of that wood? Or ill know right away by the harshness if I was.

I'm still wondering if i buy VAPMAN Mica or MFLB, never vaporized before.

Vapman seems kinda difficult and take more time in use, otherwise, is more convenient cuz need just vapman and a torch light.
MFBL looks like faster and stealthier, someone told me that he got less odor. But the baterries are a limitation and the look like it "eat" more herb.

Any suggestion from you guys? Both seems really good vapes for a first user who want be stealth, wich take his almost all days and wanna something more convenient with less smell.

Thanks

Vapman is beautifull but very special/uncommon vape, need a torch not discrete.

For a first vape mflb is a must have, then i would say solo or the opposite.

or da vinci 2 from puffit up at 139! no torch needed. very precise

or lotus or hammer without stealth.

or another portable device you can look for a thread in here, what is the budget? where order it?
