Vapes from US to UK, duties??

Hi,
what's been the experience for UK folks who have a vape shipped from US to UK.
Do they always hit you with duties/tariff or sometimes none?

Does it make any difference what it is marked as, like aromatherapy device or any category that is legit
BUT exempt from import duties?
Does it make any difference if the vape is made in Spain--European free trade exemption??

Hi MinnBobber,

I've ordered a couple of things from the States and outside of the EU before now, and I've found that it's very hit and miss whether you receive a customs charge or not.

I don't think it matters what category the parcel is - the duties are instead levied according to the value of the goods. Some companies mark it under the threshold to avoid their customers incurring any extra charges. I believe the threshold has been lowered recently to £15 for purchases, and it's £30 for gifts. Anything above that and you get hit with an import duty and £8 handling fee.

If you're in the EU, ordering from the EU - then no charges are incurred.
