Vaped Flora

seems 2015 is going to be the year of new vaporizers.

The market place will soon have a new contender in the pen vaporizer form factor, the " Vaped Flora":

Seems to be a pen heater hybrid, with a "glass on glass air path".

While there are already some reviews out, seems it will be available come April.

Oh crap! False alarm then, I unsubscribe right now! :)

It might be the year of the vape but unfortunately we see the same questionable design decisions made over and over again as if they don't learn from the competition and the market advancements. I know, often there is such a lag between product design and commercial release that you can be obsolete right when you release, but at times it feels like some makers didn't do their homework and research properly.

@KeroZen In this video it shows how you can slide the glass mouthpiece into the unit starting at 1:30 through 2:30. If it's packed with herbs you can't slide it in all the way. It looks kind of like a thinner Arizer Air. But one temp is not very attractive.

It's stealthy/sleek design as an Imag+ do ,and seems to be improved from the Imag+ from oven material and mouthpiece material.in that price point not bad.
2 things curious:
1: does it a sealed Oven or not?will the air travel from electronic components to the oven?
2: How hot is vapor and the mouthpiece?
IMO the most issue for this vape is how they isolate the HOT from Oven and how hot the glass MP will be.
waiting for the review from you guys.
what a year of new vape.

Only you can prevent ganja fires.
Defnitely not only convection though it's advertised as such. You can see the vapor come up from the heated oven. The oven itself actually looks a lot like the TVape.

Nope, as the video shows.

Single temp is disappointing. That would take it off my list at this price.

well, i have no clue what you can see in the video, I haven't watched it, but actually you can(!) slide the mouthpiece in, entirely... I have one here, so I know what I'm talking about!

Definitely the best one temp, ecig type vaporizer so far, (no plastic parts around the bowl and shit) but also a little bigger than the V2 Series 3, Puffly F1 and the Atmos Boss.

more soon... I actually have five new vapes here, so I'm not sure when I have the time to take care of this one in detail

Cool mrweed, glass made me check this one out, but single temp and non replaceable battery...

What is that single temp btw? And how is taste compared to the other Chinese pen styles?

hmm well, thanks to the glass mouthpiece taste is indeed a little better.
Can't say anything about the actual temperature, but i guess performance-wize it must be somewhere between 190-200°C

Thanks bud, how would you compare it to like an FM and its glass mouthpiece taste wise? Since there its the wide ceramic oven and polymide that seem to degrade taste the most, whether its glass or silicone mouthpiece. What's the oven like on this one?

I had proposed to Ray that he might consider change the I Mag+ a bit, and introduce a variant, to market it as a heater vaporizer, in the lines of the Air. Being a bit slimmer, and smaller, it reduces the profile significantly.

Have been using my iMag+ as a small heater vaporizer myself, with some stems from a wood vape.

Works wonders, and less tonnage to haul.

But, he doesn't seem to see $ales, or $$$$ signS.

C'est la vie.

Hmm haven't thought about it before, but yes, that's pretty much it! Performs very similar to the classic FM5.0. maybe airflow is a bit more restricted...

Btw there is a fair chance, that the flora might have a seperated airpath. There is a little hole right below the oven.

Ah nice if its not too hot, could be a winner. Would like to know exact temp, and if airpath is sealed then I'd have to agree could be a winner

The ceramic oven is very small compared to the Ascent but for me ceramic tastes way better than metal for sure. The FM taste is really not that bad, the problem is that the orginal is way too high of a temperature (210°C!!!!) and the vapor path is super short. The FM5-S taste is ok and the FM5-Pro at low temps is really great, I'd even say it's delicious!

Also the Polyimide tape doesn't degrade the taste, it's just that the glue on it smells a bit during the first 3 battery discharges, afterwards it has strictly no effect on taste. I don't know why @paytonpenn tried to imply that in the FM thread because it's simply not true. The INH capsules are made of polyimide and noboby ever complained.

I think most people are confused and stay on their first impression about the original FM5, but for me it's clear the #1 culprit is the super high temperature. If I start my Ascent directly above 210°C the taste is popcorny and crappy in not time, and this is the case with all vapes.

mine is definitely not too hot, but I believe that other units could perform slightly different as it's the case with the V2 Series 3 and the Atmos Boss.
The manual of the Vaped Flora is actually only 5-6 sentences long. No word about the temperature (and airpath)

If it's not the polymide that taste bad then it must be the ceramic. But my Versa and XMax don't have that FM flavor I'm used to disliking.

Seems like an interesting vape over here, I am curious about the air path and flavor.

Yes it is much better than the oval ascent ceramic oven, but I think they are still too wide, in the FM Imag and xmax, but that's how these ceramic ovens all seem to be. I just dont fine them as efficient as narrower steel designs like in original Imag+ and Indica, but theres more to it than that as other metal ovens tasted poorly, even indica switched alloys at one point and it began tasting worse (maybe culprit in the HD?)

And ofcourse I'm not talking about the FM pro, clearly this unit can't compete with full temp control, and agreed it is the high temp that does the most damage to taste. Originally the FM VV was set more around 380 and it is so much better like that agreed, then they pushed it up and got so harsh and I thought it was defective it tasted so bad.

Haven't tried the S mini or Pro, but I do think the insulation materials have an impact on taste as well. Xmax recently switched to a new material for the pro, and it has been noticeably more neutral tasting compared to previous pro, even at higher temps. Even with an isolated airpath, quality insulation is important. And I do think I read some say how the polymide was harsh and not the best tasting for them in the inhlater thread too

In any case, really a narrow glass oven would be the ideal for a conduction session vape imo, instead of just the mouthpiece/vapor path (a longer vapor path also helps), but I think pure stainless is still preferable to ceramic in my experience so far at least

Yes you made some valid points, and it's a complex matter, not just a black vs white issue... I'm afraid we will seriously derail this thread if we continue this discussion here. But it's not the first time I read you saying that you prefer metal hovens...

Will you be getting a Pax2? Apparently it's one other good example of a metal hoven vape that works well (but IMHO the original Pax tasted crappy)

Sorry for getting off-tracks... :)

Yes yes I believe we are both well versed in each others particular tastes at this point! Agreed it comes down to personal preference more than anything else here. Agreed the Pax1 oven is terrible, way to wide and just poorly designed overall (don't get me started on mouthpiece and other issues). Definitely been interested in Pax2 for a change bc of better oven design and other fixes like a lower temp, but that price is just such a ridiculous deterrent that I cannot justify, especially when I'm already invested in Indica and they should have new ones out very soon

So back to Flora, is the oven here narrower by chance @mrweed ? How little can you load? Seems like the mouthpiece can pack down any amount and keep it tight if you keep the stem in a little?

well, i think maybe 0,2g of grinded herbs. it's not super small, however I would not pack it tight since I believe that will affect airflow a lot.
oven is made of metal, not ceramic btw.

Can you slide that straw inside for transport?
Yes... the straw slides inside for transport.
oven is made of metal
Oven is made of glass. I watched one being dismantled. The heater around the glass is metal.. but herb touches glass.
The Micro Vaped Flora

The Micro Vaped Flora uses an innovative vapor delivery system which features an internal glass compartment and glass mouthpiece. Glass on glass is what you get with the Flora.
Photo%20on%202017-03-17%20at%2012.08.jpg

The inner chamber is a tube of solid Glass.
This is where you fill the unit. The bottom of the chamber is part of this one piece chamber... it has holes in the bottom. Herbal matter does not get stuck in these holes, as you are inhaling from the top.
You slide the mouthpiece up, and fill the chamber....
touch the button 5 times, and the button turns red.
It takes about 30 seconds for the button to turn green, and you are ready to start the session.
There are no temperature settings to mess with, just the one setting.
It feels to me like it is between about 380º and 390F.
The flavor is absolutely great with this unit.
The sessions go about 5 minutes.
After a couple back to back sessions, the metal at the top and the glass begins to be hot, but not too hot for Vaporist lips!
The box comes with one extra glass mouthpiece, that slides into the glass chamber. The inner glass chamber does not get sticky, as its entirety is heated... and full of herb, only the top needs cleaning, and it has my favorite feature of all.... A SHORT VAPOR PATH!
I can not emphasize how much I like this unit.
  • On/Off button and a 1 inch vapor path to clean.
  • Herb touches only glass.
  • 30 second warmup time.
Color me sold!
Video done at computer webcam, so pardon the graininess
