Vap throat irritation, is Bong with ICE and Precooler a solution

Hi,

I have recently purchased a Extreme Q vap, I truly love the high but the following day my throat/wind pipe is paying the price, really itchy and I could cough all day long if I let it to.

So after doing some research I’ve decided to use my Vap through a bong, The Prurient-Penny from Grace Glass, see link below:

It has an Ice catcher and a percolator with 8 stems with a diameter of 55mm and a hight of 35 cm.

I thought I would also purchase a pre-cooler: Frost pre cooler "Triple Icecold" 18.8, see link below:

So here is my question, Is buying a pre-cooler a waist of money since

1. The vapes coming from a Vaporizor are already pretty clean2. If I add ice to the bongs how could that little precooler cool it anymore


So to recap what I’m looking to achieve is to get rid of the after day throat/ lung’s pipe irritation.

Since the bong already has two points of diffusion (the downstem and the perc) you really don't need a third (the pre-cooler).

Ice is personal preference but I feel it reduces the amount of vapor you inhale because of increased vapor condensation on the walls of the glass.


PS: Unless you have great lung control and lung power, you might want to look into a smaller bong or one that doesn't have a perc. Things like extra percs and splashcatchers (that dome above the tree perc) increases how restricted the draw is when hitting it.

Hi Oli,

I order two time on head-nature (french version).
No problem, just one product out of stock and they paid off it.

I have a vapor tamer (7th floor), a mentalist (weed star, buy on head-nature) and an AquaVape

The vapor tamer preserve the taste and it's perfet for the summer ;)
but i don't know if it solve your problem of throat, maybe...

With the mentalist, like a lot of bongs, you lose some taste
to reduce this, use a bong with small water quantity like Aquavape.
be careful more drag on aquavep like mentalist, to avoid that maybe the solution it's this
but I'am not sure it is available in Europe...

Great english!, bien qu'on pourrait continuer en Francais, bien à notre aise, but that wouldn't be fair on our follow English speaking forum bodies as it is afterall an english language forum!

Thanks for giving me the thumbs up for Head-nature website, I will actually order from the spanish website, as I live in Spain. They products are so much cheaper than Grasscity that I wondered if it was too good to be true:

Drag has been mentioned but I do not fully get it, is drag the fact that with a bigger bong you have to inhale so much more extra air that it makes it harder?

The last one you picked have plenty of diffusion in a reasonable size, it should be good for a smooth vaping experience

Which is kind of ironic after researching for 4 days and spending many hours reading on the net (wanting the best quality piece for my low budget) I end up buying a piece I have hardly any info or real reviews on, apart from some bits here and there. But nothing like the info/reviews which are available for the Black Leaf nautilus “Layback” or “smart squid”, which I nearly came to buy. So why? it’s funny how the process of researching and thinking through happens sometimes, of course let’s be honest, we are not talking about hundred or thousand here but merely spending 35 o 50 euros on my first ever bong which should give some kind of experience I’m sure. Bottom line, also I love the look of that G&G Bong and was never so keen on the nautilus designs, too much the little mermaid style and fun, I think I like the serious scientist look, which of course I might come to regret…anyway enough babble ling. :myday:

Thank you for all your advice and input, I will definitely write up when I receive it and gain a little experience! :science:

I have found that vaping at a higher temperature (400F) gives me less harshness & irritation. If I rush it and it drops to 380F - 390F, I get all sorts of irritation and coughing.

Hi All,


Well time to give you an update on my purchase.
To recap I was looking to purchase a bong to filter the smoke from my Extreme Q vaporizer that gave me an itchy throat the following day when smoking directly from the balloon or the whip.
While I was waiting for it to arrive I experimented with a 5 litres bottle of water to place my whip through the bottle half filled with ice and water (see picture), and it really did the trick, the next morning my throat was great, no itchy or coughing feeling at all.
Anyway my bong finally came some two days later, ordered from Smokeytown in Germany with a couple of little gift (lighter and glass pipe).

I have had a few days to mess around with it and this is my view on it bearing in mind that I have never used a bong before.
First of all, the piece was bigger than expected but so pretty and shiny! It feels very thick to the touch. When smoking through it with my vap I do feel some drag but as I can not compare its hard to tell the level of it. I tried cold, hot and mild water, the mild is ok, the hot water does not agree with me, it makes me cough very easily after a draw, but I love the feeling of the iced water, especially the morning after, NADA in the throat, which solves my issue!!!

I used to prefer using the balloon with my vap but now, the whip is my weapon of choice, I love those big clouds of vapour, the only thing is that I never really know when I have had enough!!!! When I say big cloud of vapour I mean in comparison to using the whip directly but there are by no mean as thick as some of the videos seeing on the web, but then again I might vap at a too low temperatures, I start with 185 celcius and end up at 195 max.

I do also like the fact that with the drag now you do feel like you are smoking something as before I did feel that when I used the whip it was a little like smoking an ULTRA ULTRA light cigarette!
I have noticed that you do lose some of the flavor of the grass going through a bong!

I have also notice that when I use the down stem provided which has slits at the bottom, I do not know if its really properly designed as it never stays engulfed with water, even if I add more it is sucked in by the percolator always leaving the slit head of the down stem out of water???

Anyway all in all, I’m still experimenting with level of water and temperatures but I am very happy with the bong, its design, its price (49 euros), its sturdiness, its perfect high for me when smoking at my desk thanks to the bent neck.

So a happy bunny although I’d like to get my hands on one of those small infamous bubblers to see the comparisons!

…Keep on vaping….
