Using Shrooms to Treat Anxiety/Depression

    Just wondering if anyone out there has any experience. Im about to start with a very small dose tomorrow. Enough that i dont trip, but do feel something.
    Side note: I know this is a forum for vaping, but ill be injesting. I imagine vaping shrooms would taste disgusting. Would it even work? Actually maybe ill try mixing a bit (again we're talking about TINY doses here) in weed?

    Vaping fungus?!? I wouldn't vape shrooms unless you turn the psylocin into a freebase (ie alcohol extraction).

    Low doses should be good for anxiety but I don't see this being something you can medicate with on a daily basis without building a massive tolerance

    no one here can tell you how you will react. i have tried to use p. cubensis and p. cyanescens therapeutically and they don't work for me. instead of reaching that blissful, ego-less, mind melding with the universe trip, the trip revolves entirely around the problem i'm trying to fix.

    i prefer large doses to small doses, because small doses leave me with an anxious "am i in this or not?" kind of feeling. some of my friends feel the same, and prefer a full-blown trip to a kind-of trip.

    i think you're playing with fire. respect the mushroom, for it is strong medicine.

    oh make no mistake i plan on being very careful, knowing that Im not in a position to do a lot. I know my spirits are down and im feeling pretty shitty right now, you have to be in good spirits for strong psychedelics IMO.
    Its also not the first time i try shrooms. I've done shrooms and acid multiple times, and never had a bad trip. I loved my experiences with psychedelics and always had that mind melting with the universe trip.
    The key here is im not looking for a trip at all, just a mood booster. I am talking very small amounts, surely not enough to get me trippin hard. So while i understand what you mean about preferring high dosages, i think small dosages might help me achieve MY goal. You know how at the start of any acid/shrooms trip you laugh ur ass off? I want to try to replicate that effect to a lesser scale, while avoiding (or REALLY minimizing) the visuals and trip.
    I think i should just experiment around with it as much as possible. Im just looking for something to lift my spirits, the weed dont work well no more :(. Im fucking desperate. Anyone know of any forums that can help me? I dont plan on using this on a daily basis, but some improvement would be a nice start. Just a little something to take the pain away every once in a while.

    @z9 can you tell me more about the alcohol extraction method? how long do i soak? have you tried that before?

    Using shrooms to treat anxiety/depression??? That sounds like a recipe for disaster.
    I've always heard that anyone with anxiety/depression should stay away from psychedelics.
    I wouldn't do it, cawshook. It could end very bad. Once you take them there's no turning back.

    maybe i shouldnt do it, but I cant live in this downward spiral anymore. It kills me trying to feel alive. I just need to experiment with the small doses.
    Anyone can recommend a book to help my positive thinking? Im wiling to try anything at this point. Im trying to tackle this problem from all angles. 5 years of this same shit is enough, Im having suicidal thoughts too often. I never attempted suicide, and probably never will so thats something positive, but i think of death more than life.

    Listen to me. Do not do this. If u pm me I'll explain deeper. I've also got advice and know of several people who have tried to do the low dose thing. It's a very dead end.

    I've been on other boards and will ask that you do not do this. I will give you better options that will work if you want. I've been through anxiety/depression hell in the past. Currently having a flair up or window of it and it sucks.

    If you went I can walk you through to getting you head straight in terms of herbs,CBT,meds, and dietary.

    Please do. I appreciate any help you can give me. I will not do shrooms since a lot of you seem to think its a bad idea. I think we should just continue on in this thread if thats alright with you so that people like me can benefit so please post the supplements to help me here, and i will pm you to know more about the experiences you mentioned.

    Yes. Thanks for not doing it. How's ur money situations?

    Do you use any sugar free products? Do you smoke cigs? Caffine? Other drugs legal and illegal but weed is good? How's ur diet? Is fish commonly in your diet? Yogurt? Do you see yourself being able to stick to a few additions to your routine like pmr or meditation?

    please consult the help of a professional if your problems continue or get worse. sometimes just vocalizing your problems is such a relief.

    aerobic exercise has powerful anxiolytic/antidepressant effects and without it i start spiraling into a deep dark hole. do you currently exercise aerobically and frequently?

    I want you to know that nothing in the brain realm is instant besides benzos or GABA affecting drugs like ketamine or booze. All have rebound anxiety with withdrawl symptoms that increase with tolerance. These are a shortcut and the benefits do not last and GABA withdrawl is hell.

    In other words changes will start of so subtle you won't really notice them at first.

    No money to see a prof consistently, and short infrequent sessions do nothing for me, not even short term relief or whatever and i dont have the energy to exercise anymore. I cant even eat well. Its 2 am and I havent eaten, ill probably go to sleep like that.

    Money is kind of tight. Not tighter than usual, but i def cant go to regular sessions. Im a part time student and work part time. So theres not much i can do. My parents can help me out, but id rather not.
    I smoke cigs, probably a pack a week or so.
    I dont drink caffeine or alcohol for that matter. I used to drink alcohol daily but i stopped when i realized it was just empowering my depression.
    Dont do any other drugs except weed or hash. I tried an antidepressant a few years back. I cant even remember what its called, didnt help. Oh and i take allergy medication daily.
    Diet is ok when i do eat, i mostly eat healthy. the problem is i dont eat much anymore. Fish is not common in my diet, neither is yogurt.
    I dont know what pmr is but meditation i tried and failed. Im willing to try any additions to my routine.

    you don't have energy to exercise? interestingly, exercise will often give you energy when you feel fatigued/rundown/tired.

    endorphins = "endogenous morphine" : my favorite "drug" by far

    having said that, i'm just some random guy on the internet. i'm absolutely not a professional. please consider getting help. there are many places that have a sliding payment scale depending on your income.

    About aerobic exercises. Just do it! like nike said so well.

    I could add my little succes story, but from what I read putting your shoes and go run outside could only be good to you too. Worst its a dud. For me, the simple accomplishement of jogging gives me confidence in me.

    I know for a fact doing a sustained cardio intense excercise on a regular basis is healthy. I heard/read many times it helped fight "head problems" better than pharmatical solution.

    So go for endorphines like suggested instead of psylicibine. It cant hurt. Try it.

    I shall revive this thread if I may. I am experienced with shrooming personally and believe it to alter your perception of understanding. I figure most here are well aware of shrooms to be mind-altering and the effects of mushrooms are as harmless as used in moderation like cannabis.

    Some do it to explore the natural environment and seeing it differently could have either positive or negative outcomes depending on the situation. If you think positively while taking this hallucinogen, you will have a positive experience. If you decide not to accept the altering of perception or will completely have regret/doubts then your body will naturally start to fight it as well to help you come down from the trip. Milk is said to mellow you out if you seem to be having a bad experience.

    I did shrooms to help me overcome. If you are looking to let go and realize you will certainly be able to. You know how cartoons or some shows defy the natural thought of everyday life? It's basically you and your dream world except reality is you are very awake and wandering outdoors seem to be the best environment to explore the vividness of glowing colors, geometrical patterns, and a lot more depending on what your hapiness is bound to create. Your world, your bed, your life, your eyes (advised not to stare in the mirror during trip or focus on body parts) and anything you focus on will be so detailed as you trip. It really takes you out of the thought of 'what is human' and your body synchronizes with the nature of the world/life around you typically making you understanding a purpose for everything. Sort of like accepting everything as it once was all over again.

    Some may not have the same experience but I've read experiences out there and talked to different types of people to help myself better prepare for my own personal experience. I wanted to understand what others did while shrooming.

    I don't reccomend doing it alone but if you want, be sure to keep in mind a journal is your best friend after. You might want to write/draw or even fold paper and it will open up all these connections and the things you see and feel is unique to the trip.

    Eating good prior to an hour before taking/ingesting is a good idea. Taking it on an empty stomach could be either good or bad but for me it was kinda bad considering my stomach was upset for the first hour felt like I needed to shit it out too. Not sure if I did or not but definitely did trip better (sorta weak of a trip). Take care and trip safely my friend. :peace::argh:
