I was curious if the The Leftovers gives anybody anxiety. I used to watch the show but it really bothered me so I stopped watching after a couple of seasons. I watched it last weekend just to see what was happening and same thing, it bothered me. I couldn't make heads nor tails of what exactly was going on with the plot line.

Watched season one and it was so much about loss and my wife just passed so I didn't care for it. Such a sad program.
I got HBO included when I dropped Comcast and they had a Season 2 repeat marathon that I picked off and it blew my mind. Sort of a serious Seinfeld. Disparate elements tied themselves into a mysterious journey.
Life is confusing with everyone giving different spins and interpretations. Death even moreso. You cannot expect a TV show to have all the answers to the Universe. There is no plot to Life either. It is your experience.

Season 1 definitely made me anxious - I think it's because of all the smoking. Seriously - I nearly gave up on Breaking Bad because of all the coughing .... go figure. But The Leftovers now is one of my faves....
For anxiety go straight to Ray Donovan :)... If I'm having a tough day I just wonder what shit Ray is having to deal with

I am planning on starting the Leftovers! I"ve only heard good things. Albeit the premise of it makes me feel I know where it is heading (we are leftovers, the 2% "chosen" be it by god/aliens/etc) but the acclaim has caught my interest

Better Call Saul has started ramping up, that's all I watch and Survivor, which has just been OK this season. They screwed the pooch in casting, it's a season called "Game Changers" and half are players who fit that bill, the other half do not really. Predictably, the biggest "game changers" have just consistently been knocked out for prior reputation and the B team has been steamrolling forward. Still decent, though it's becoming a one man/woman show with regards who the clear cut winner is, as one B team member clearly stands out above rest.

SNL should be pretty good this weekend. Melissa McCarthy is hosting she has a lot to work with. They have tons of possible sketches to do. I think they have just one more show before the season ends after this May 13th. That might be one of the reasons we haven't seen Sean Spicer.

I actually saw piloy of The Leftovers on vacation awhile back....I remember the smokers and some of the deer stuff. That said I really dug first episode, the music is on point.

I hope someone steps up and does Sarah Huckabee too. Right now MSBNC is more gripping than most drama shows.

@CarolKing Yes. The Leftovers can be anxiety inducing (but nowhere near as horrible as Breaking Bad for me. That show is fucking tense!). It's definitely not a show you can pick up w/o watching the previous episodes in order (IMO). 1st season was good, though a little sluggish, while season 2 was one of the best things on TV in 2015 (again JMO) & season 3 is just as good. Only 3 episodes left! Hoping they go out with a bang!

Twin Peaks returns to TV in a little over a week . Preacher season 2 at the end of June , the rest of Rick & @Morty season 3 sometime this summer , Game of Thrones on July 16 , Stranger Things season 2 premieres on Halloween :zombie:, & I believe Westworld sometime in 2018 . Been really enjoying Better Call Saul this season as well. Finally got to see the 1st inkling of Jimmy becoming Saul last episode. Really cool to see Gus & Huell again this season (along with some others).

I love the boob tube!

(Oh yeah, and new American Dad has been on too. Love me some American Dad! I've come to enjoy it more than Family Guy, but still love me some FG.)

Edit: Just found out Arrested Development (story of my life :p) is returning for a 5th season on Netflix in 2018! Whoopee!!!

“It got very stupid and goofy in the second season; it got ridiculous,” Mr. Lynch said in a phone interview, explaining that his work on the film “Wild at Heart” pulled him away from the show after the first season. “I stopped watching that show because it got so bad.”

Now, more than a quarter of a century later, it’s back. Starting Sunday, May 21, a new, 18-hour chapter of “Twin Peaks” will begin on Showtime, this time with only Mr. Lynch in the director’s seat and much of the original cast returning.

Production for the revival, which took eight months, has been tightly wrapped, but Mr. Lynch described it as “exactly like a feature film.” Most of the cast members interviewed for this article said they received scripts for only their scenes and were forbidden to discuss their roles with journalists (or one another).

Without a peg to hang expectations on, the world of “Twin Peaks” in 2017 is, for Showtime, a gamble...

@HellsWindStaff Both are def good. For sure. Season 1 also has one of my favorite episodes, The Garvey's at Their Best. A great look at that family before the departure. I don't know, maybe season 2 was a tiny bit more "Lynchian" for me.

I gotta say too , the cover that guy did, I forget the episode but his name is Lo Fang....it's a cover of "You're the one that I want" and it's fucking phenomenial.

You could say that when I listen, "my chills, are multiplying " ;)

@StickyShisha

Holy shit! Thanks for letting me know about the Wheel of Time being made into a series! Read all of them! I was just talking to someone about great book series that should be made into shows and this was right up there! Now I just need a little C.S. Friedman a la coldfire trilogy or John Varley's Titan trilogy out in videoland! (among so many others :p)

Hopefully they don't fuck it up like they did with the sword of truth or the shanarra series
