For a split second I finally felt what it would be like to be a concerned mother!

So glad there's a happy ending to this story! Really excited to hear your thoughts on this vape, this is the only vape I've really had VAS for in the last few years! :mmmm:

This is a continuation of the original thread located here:

A bit of background history!

The VapBong is a handmade, ceramic vaporizer/bong combination vaporizer that is made in Germany.
Dr. Collie created this vaporizer many years ago and had some trouble with the law that set him back a bit and he relocated to Holland for a bit. You can also buy Dr. Collie Cannabis strain seeds!
He first tried a test tube "vaporizer" back in the mid 1970's and from there tested a variety of vaporizers. Without any money to buy one of these fancy vaporizers, he decided to design his own one.
Once he was able to work again he started making his dream vaporizer by himself. He discovered his love for clay and the way it allowed him to express his art through design.

In 2012, Dr Collie was freed from his warrant and could pursue his dream finally! The beginning was hard with everything being lost in a fire.
After a time of being very down, he picked himself up again and started working in Amsterdam to support himself and to realize his dream.
Once the shop was set up again and production started and he was able to offer his vaporizer online, demand grew steadily!

What was a dream is now a full time studio with full time staff and his son, Felix joined the team and learned all the necessary skills to manufacture this vaporizer!
They are registered in Germany as a GmbH company to further their professional image.
All vaporizers have Dr. Collie's own creative and artistic signature!

First impressions are that the packaging is very nice and everything was packed quite securely. My bowl moved out of it's holder and has a chip on the bottom but not a bit deal.
The glaze is very good and quite thick. It is also very smooth which is what I was hoping for. Some designs have a rougher texture and this can be an issue if you use the supplied herb bowl as the texture traps a lot of the crystals. Those designs look amazing on the actual VapBong but a smooth finish to the herb dishes would be nice.

I have had a few email conversations over the past few days with Daniel about performance, the heating element and extraction capabilities of the VapBong.
For some reason I was only capable of getting very light vapor and the AVB was still green. The flavor and effects even at this point were astounding!!

Some points to note:
The power adapter gets pretty hot during use, not uncomfortable to hold but still warmer than usual. Daniel said they have had no issue and his is on 24/7 for a very long time.

10,5 to 10,7V are Daniels favorites for flower
11 to 11,5 for hash.

I was at 11.5 for flower and it was very HOT! The vapor was too hot for my liking and the extraction was not good.
This required some thinking and experimentation, all in the name of getting HIGH!

I dropped the voltage to 10,5V and let it warm up for about 15t minutes, the heater dome was nice and toasty.
The first few loads were super tasty but still greenish.
Decided to try some cigar style puffs to get things going and boy did things get going!!
Holy huge clouds!! Okay, now we are moving forward!

Next thing to try was to tamp the herb down a bit with my thumb. The pad of my thumb fits the bowl perfectly and some support from the index finger under the screen is perfect!
This time I went with a long, deep hard pull for as long as I could handle it... The bong purrs like a tiger and the amount of vapor that exited my lungs was just ridiculous!
AVB is a perfectly even light brown across the entire surface of the bowl! ZERO green left anywhere, blows my mind for a convection vape!!
Flavor is extremely pure thanks to the ceramic glaze and the actual bong is very pleasant to use. I am even using it with water!!
The mouthpiece is also super comfortable! I am glad that I do not have to wrap my lips around anything to make a seal!
It has a large carb hole that you block with your thumb during a hit.
Everything is placed very conveniently around the vaporizer and it is truly a work of art!

I do not really have any negative comments to say about this vaporizer! I am a bit concerned about a bowl breaking and the replacement being an accurate and sealed replacement.
It can be very efficient with just a covering of herb over the screen with full extraction in one hit!
Or you can load the bowl up and take leisurely, full flavored hits for a while!
Hit it slow and steady, cigar style puff pulls or long fast or slow hits, they all work with extreme effects!

I will be taking videos once I am more acclimated to this beauty!!
For now, accept this beauty of a bowl of AVB!!

Congrats on your unit making it through the mail @Lazylathe !!!

I was at 11.5 for flower and it was very HOT! The vapor was too hot for my liking and the extraction was not good.

My unit was initially hitting well at 11.6-12. Now it hits well at 12.3-12.5.

I'm a little concerned - is my unit losing power? Or perhaps something else is happening?

The change occurred after 1-2 weeks of ownership and hasn't changed again as far as I can tell. Has anyone else experienced similar?

Thought I would ask Does anyone have a vapbong and also has a vapexhale evo to compare I own and evo but wanted another desktop and was thinking Minivap but now maybe Vapebong instead

@Vape Enthusiast

I have not noticed any change yet and I am pretty much only using my VapBong as it is kicking my ass!
Still at 10,2V.

I heat up on MAX till the heater ball gets hot then turn down to my preferred temp and do a few dry pulls through it to warm up the whole system.
The herb chamber should be getting warm to hot during your session.
Are you also waiting the full 15 minutes for this massive beast to heat soak correctly? I am guilty of this...Now I will only start my session once the top portion of the bowl chamber is hot!
Let it heat soak and you will be good!
When you load, compress the herb a bit to cover the entire screen for even air flow. I have also discovered my bowl has a "sweet spot" where it will seal perfectly, slightly twist it and it's gone. It also starts to work a lot better after a bowl or two to really heat the system up nicely.
Hard pulls work best with this vape as well, nice and deep long inhales.

Another trick is to not remove the herb bowl for very long. You want to keep it nice and hot for max performance.
So by halfway, everything you touch is nice and toasty warm! Going to love this vape in winter for my poor hands!

It really starts to shine 20+ minutes into a session with those massive, tasty clouds.
I will keep an eye on my unit and update if anything odd happens!

@dzoinp
You are 100% correct! His two staff that moved to Portugal are the ones that design the very arty ones.
Guess they sell slower than the regular ones, so maybe just a certain number per month are required from them?
All the material comes from Germany to manufacture the VapBong.

@readyman
Not really sure yet but i prefer the flavor of the VapBong and it can produce some crazy clouds!
It's definitley an artisan vape that takes some getting used to and you need to learn how to best use it as each unit is unique.

And for your viewing pleasure!

Usually I have my unit on for an hour or two before I hit it; there's no shutoff and I'm generally at my desk anyways!

The power has definitely dropped - I haven't heard of anyone else needing to run their units at 12.5. My unit was nearly combusting at 12v at one point. It's not a huge deal as performance is still excellent. I should probably reach out to AOV before that changes though.

I have an evo as well. The taste is pretty comparable but a little different - both have some of the best flavor out there. The evo can cook bud darker than my VB unit can. The VB has MUCH more open airflow. Both cook bud evenly - but I'd give the VB a slight edge here. The VB puts out more vapor faster. Both require a good heat soak.

Honestly, I think the open airflow sets the VB apart from my other vapes the most for me. The whole setup is much more free flowing than my FP showerhead + mobius Sidecar clone - and that's impressive! The heater also keeps up with wildly fast draws - I've been ripping this thing harder than any vape I've had before.

Nice one @Lazylathe! Very pretty glaze for sure, though not too many koi in that pond I see ;)

I actually always keep my bowl off of the VB in use so isn't get too hot to handle... I also remove it to clear each hit, I'm a little ocd about the vapor condensing on the heater etc. I seal my carb hole, since I don't need it with the bowl removed to clear, so it's nice to not have to hold my finger there...

I tend to settle in at 11v typically or a little below, no trouble to get the herb black if I want to, purely dependent on how I pack and draw. You do need to rip this thing like a bong of course, but a big inhale can lead to a hotspot like most convection. I also discovered it is important to keep screens clean, performance really suffers when it gets gunked up after several bowls (especially with finer grinds)

The Evo is like fancy lab glass and percolators, taller behemoth, with no personality though, just a monolith with clear glass (despite being extremely effective) so VB does not offer the same polish or filtration, but it is a beastly work of art! Kinda gives me a DaisyBrick vibe with the bowl size, plus the artistic style, and analog nature of the VapBong.

My Vapbong landed a couple of days ago! So far I love it and have been waiting to say...It's WOOOORRRKINNGGG!!!! :mmmm:

I received a Woodland Fantasy and am more than pleased. Not sure what I was expecting being that it's a ceramic vape, but this thing is really quite heavy! lol I love that this is handmade by an Artisan in ceramic, it just feels nice. The glaze is thick and smooth, inside and out. The only un-glazed parts are where the bowl meets the heater and base. Like @Lazylathe I found that there is a sweet spot for the bowl to get a good seal. After using it a few times, you can feel when the bowl is seated/sealed well..if not, you can tell when you start pulling because the chug sounds wrong.

I started with the heater at 10.7 and have settled around 10.4. That seems to be the best for flavor and vapor for me. 10.6 was getting me giant clouds but with less flavor and made me cough a bit.

Initially, I used it with the carb and found it cumbersome as I don't use it while it's setting on a table. It is pretty heavy to hold and carb with one hand as you can't hold it near the heater (that ball is HOT) and you can't reach the carb if you hold it by base or neck. After reading @Shit Snacks post...I used his technique and plugged the carb with a cork from one of my Bricks and pull the bowl to clear. Perfect for me!

This bad boy hits like a combustion tube bong! Very medicating and tastes amazing.

Hope Daniel or Dr. Collie register to represent AoV soon.

Anyone looking, please take a look through the old FC thread in the first post. Much more informative and interesting than my post! This is another vape that needs more love and to be in more hands around the globe.

:peace:

I’m really enjoying mine but I’m struggling to get dark abv, even when thoroughly heat soaking and running up to 12.4. I’ve tried different draw techniques and I’m getting powerful clouds. It is concerning though to hear that you all are getting cooked abv and mind still has plenty of color.

No that's good, full extraction doesn't have to go dark, 12.5 is high to me but clearly it's different for everyone, 12 would scorch some on mine... If you get powerful clouds (relative to the load size and number of hits) I wouldn't be too focused on the color, depends what other vape you're used to...

Thank you. I’m in a city with Covid lockdown since March and without access to weed. I’ve been cutting my weed with cbd to stretch it for as long as possible until I can order a delivery. Therefore I’ve been doing my best to get everting out of each bowl. So not being able to fully extract a relatively light load has been a challenge. Can I ask how many delta3d scoops worth you use in a bowl? I’m doing a generous 1.5 scoops.

Oh, my bowls are usually double that, at minimum! The times I scorched it was actually even more...

Color is not necessarily indicative of how fully extracted the herb is.
A darker ABV is indicative of how much chlorophyll has been destroyed.
A more efficient extraction will extract while destroying less chlorophyll.
Some of the more efficient vaporizers can fully extract without making the ABV nearly as dark as some other vapes.

@Funkyhomer

I run mine at around 10 to 10.5 for flower and the AVB is an extremely even tan color. Think I posted a pic earlier in the thread.
That is about how dark it will get with full extraction with a full convection vape.
If a vape has any conduction heating, the AVB will be that roasted dark color.

Also make sure it is 100% heat soaked before trying to hit it.
It is not a fast heat up and use vape, this one requires you to wait until it is ready.

Started differently tonight.
Set the VB at 10.2V and walked away for about an hour. On my return it was at around 9.8V.
Still getting big, tasty clouds and thoroughly extracted AVB. It does take a few more hits though but for the flavor that lasts forever, it is worth it!
It's pretty tasty all the way through which is a nice change!

Getting big clouds is effortless in this vaporizer! I also find myself coughing very infrequently when using the VB.
No nasty burnt popcorn taste ever. Endless clouds! If you feel like hitting a bowl for 5 minutes, no problem!
Finishing it in one hit? Better have big lungs!

I need to take some better pics of it as it truly is a work of art!
The glaze is awesome and the pond has quite a few fish in it, will locate them.
I think it call for some natural sunlight to bring out it's real beauty!

So far I have used it at least for one session every day since it's arrival.
I have to say that it is quite odd using a fully opaque bong. Not being able to see the vapor density is weird because I am so used to my crystal clear RooR bong. Not being able to see what goes in, always makes the exit even more interesting!

Just letting you peeps know, They have posted 6 more B-Stock VapBongs on their site at 30% off due to the glaze not being perfect. Killer savings and they still look great.

Yeah the glaze was "overheated" in the kiln for the ones below, but I actually might even prefer this look for the cap mint and ori orange...

This last one already sold out, easily would have been my choice if it was still available, also if I could justify getting another one so soon! I am really into the blue that these browns turn into when fired for too long apparently (and that crazy streaky natural drip pattern! interesting how the blue azure actually became less color streaky than usual when it was overheated lol)

They also have a koi pond with glaze bubbles and a lady bug with glaze holes b stocks avail.
