Is the original Project very different, in term of performances, than the new Eraser?

My Project sadly doesn't see a lot of use actually (lot of new vapes to test!), it seems there was a lot of software improvements and all this stuff is somewhat difficult to understand to me since english is not my native language and since I don't get a lot of knowledges on this topic!

That's a very good question. Besides the jacket, he original Project is basically the same design with a shorter oven and a different coil orientation.
The changes were made to improve heat dispersion and help with the hot spot.
The features in the custom firmware allows us to take it to the next level. I think we are all just discovering the flexibility of it now. At least I am.

The FAQ Instruction sheet is changing all the time and it should help you some. Or confuse the issue even more...? :uhoh:

    ;)

@PPN i have both version for a long time i can say is the same in functionality and result , i am talking about the same engine/deck with the same old version of coil in that point the only advance ( a big one for me ) is that everything stay in place tight not too much tight but tight enough to make me conformable pass it around without the fear of falling or anything, the new mouthpiece that come with the project is better done and finish , the chamber/screen bigger by default without any modification but personally i don't like for direct hit , i use it like a wpa with a a silicon piece in the tip to seal the air ( i think the Gong can work great as wpa for the project ) , for direct hit i recommend you a glass stem ( arizer air , e-nano fixed glass screen ( my favorite ) , underdog stem, etc ).

after saying that i think the eraser version right now is better but if i can get a wood version that fit as tight as the eraser i will prefer the wood version :D.

pd: other thing i forgot to mention is that the new inner tube is more tall so you have more space to play with the coil.

Damn, there's not a single vape in my signature where FC members reported getting from 2 to 4 times more bowls per charge than I do. I know it's down to my technique, I do numerous small hits and I hit all my vapes dry, always. I don't even own a single water glass piece, bubbler or whatever.

While the battery life is great on the Project, it's not that different in practice from my other vapes using the same cells. There's so much you can get out of a single 18650. And there's no way I could last an entire day with a single cell.

And I don't consider myself a heavy user at all anymore. When I smoked yes, I was the heaviest user I knew, from dusk to down, smoking my first one even before the breakfast... and I'm not proud of it, that's just the way it was. Now that I vape it's all under control and sometimes I don't need to vape until the afternoon or rarely the evening... but I'm drifting.

But see with the Milaana I only get 3 bowls per charge, and only by pushing my cells down to 3.2V. When other users report getting from 5 to 12 bowls with the same cell. And most say they cash their bowl in 2 to 3 rips, when last time I counted it required me anything between 20 and 35 hits.

Project bowls are smaller but I'm only getting 4 to 5 per cell at most, maybe 6?. If I start vaping the morning it's not enough to get me through a day. I needed to precise that because I'm sure there are other users more like me, and they ought to be disappointed when they read super high bowls per charge reports and don't enjoy that in practice.

I think @emmdeemo has a Cuboid with two batteries inside buddy... ;) Double the juice, less harsh for the bats.

OK. TCR reduced to 170. That was a noticeably nicer few bowls, feels less aggressive at higher temps. Finishing a bowl at 220c/428f is still pretty quick but less prone to a nasty taste and toasting too quick, leaving that familiar 'my wonky coil' heat mark signature on the load. In fact, the wonky coil imprint is barely noticeable.

Gonna try lowering the watts some, I like that notion :)

    Yup yup

Taken the watts down to 50, still getting lovely clouds. Milking a D020 just fine at 210c/410f.

Its taken me a whole bunch of re-reads of this post to understand what the hell the point was (my autism at fault most likely), but I get it now, and you're right to want accuracy rather than my vague 'batteries last me all and day and I think I do loads' style sentence :) Point taken!

I just got my eraser in the mail and I am having a bit of difficulty. I think I have all of the settings correct, but when I press the fire button it puts me in a different mode than tcr and it won't stay in tcr. Any suggestions?

are your locked ohms around 0.5? if not try, setting them in the coil menu.

if it kicks back to power mode it couldnt detect a rise in temp within reasonable time (very little time for humans;)).
to reset everything take out the battery and reinsert, go back to tcr mode and try again. maybe pulse the button until it works.

good luck, ask away or join the chat, im there most of the times.

After much trying and working with my cuboid and eraser, everything is right in fluffheadville. After a lot of help and advice from @funkyjunky, we were able to determine that both the mod and the atomizer were in functioning order. Funkyjunky worked me through a few attempted corrections and for a while, nothing was working.

Eventually, I figured I might as well try from the beginning. So I flashed the stock firmware back onto my cuboid and checked to see if the atomizer worked on there. It did! So I knew I was able to vape with it, but for some reason it hadn't been working with myevic. After vaping a bowl with the stock firmware, I flashed the myevic firmware back on there. All of my settings reset, which is what I was hoping for. I then set all of the settings and I was good to go.

The cold resistance for my atomizer is .531. I have my TCR set to 170, PID set the way @Pipes set out in the faq, watts at 80, ohms check is off. After some fiddling, I have determined that setting the resistance at .575 gets me the vapour I am looking for at 180, 190, and 200. I haven't gone higher because I don't use high temps before evening. At the temps I have worked with so far, I see no need for stirring. I have turned the stem every couple of draws, but I don't think I will need to stir with it. Great vapour and it is surprisingly smooth. So far I have used an air glass stem and an old pvhes solo 14mm adapter. Both work well, next onto the vapcap mod.

Does anyone have a ddave 14mm stem? I am curious how that would perform in the eraser (or the upcoming glass version).

I have one but I gotta get my eraser before I can be of any use in that regard.

I decided to get my pico locally. Picked it up today. I wanted the all black mod and no tank so by the time I made those requests I wasn't saving much via internet.

I got a little info from them. Enough to know that all the myevic stuff shouldn't be necessary. I was told I can either use watts setting or temp setting. I think I'll set it around the temp of the green setting on the Air and go from there.

What about an Eraser? :tup:

Anyhow, I've a little discussed with @phattpiggie about a wood body for the Project,
and it seems I'm not the only one to be interested on that !
What are general thoughts about some pretty burl (thuya?) bodies ?

Although, here is a company that makes wood skins for most of popular BoxMods !

Edit: Okay alright, so I'm currently shopping on FastTech to get a Wismec RX200S,
just as an excuse to get one of those awesome stabilized wood wrap ! :luv:
Is this a good idea? a good mod?
I think it would be wonderful, with Project on a wood body !

I think the Wismec boxmods look good like this, but the cuboid with one of those skins looks a bit too much like 70's wood wall paneling, or maybe a station wagon (but less nostalgically fun) for me :)

And they were referencing directly the heating of dry herb using convection?

@Joaon Nice find, they keep the units nice and small. There was a new RXS on Ebay went for £30+p&p.

emmdeemo the Cuboid one could be sanded back, stained, coloured, pyro'd, lasered or carved to take that edge off it, or brass/Ti inlay.
If @emmdeemo hadn't kept telling me just how well his has been working I would have just gone on my merry way, I've got plenty to occupy myself with at the moment.

Trouble is when you just can't help yourself it's hard not to have a little peek in @Pipes threads, next thing you know that little peek turns into hours hunting teardown videos.
I've been looking in to just building around the internals of the 150 Cuboid and moving the 510 connection.

I like the way @natural farmer's post of the recessed tank looks and would be aiming for that kind of shape with the 510 lower.
The shape I'm after the ecig folk call 'side by side'. Triangular due to the Cuboids 2 18650's.
You can fit a longer stem with out adding any extra height this way.

The first thing I thought when my PnP battery starting being a twat years ago, was consider taking it apart and putting the heating chamber by the side of the battery instead of on top so it could have a longer stem and not get so fucking hot, and just use wood and glass instead of all cracking plastic.

    So... Hurrah! :)

EDIT: On a full to capacity bowl, if I keep hitting it at 220c/428f, pulling through glass, without stirring, and trying to kill the bowl with no regard for taking it easy on draw strength, I'll likely combust.

At 215c/419f, I can pull as hard as I want, not combust, but completely kill the bowl. Evening browning, no stirring.

    Limit found! Success!

    Click to play YouTube Video

EDIT 2: Gah! Another combustion event! Taking the temps down a tad. Obviously, I'm aware I'm pushing things by filling to the brim and attempting a non stir quick full load.

I vaguely kept track after the last battery change... Batteries started on 94%. 12 bowls of approx. 0.2g flower at a time, batteries were down to 6%. Every bowl was hit on high temps, done on the same settings (apart from changing the temp from 210c to 215c) and hit through a d020. ABV was dark brown.

@ataxian , this is a 510 threaded full convection, temp regulated heater which can be used with a variety of stems to suit your particular needs. A full convection, instant-on portable vaporizer.

Unbreakable as well... I thought you talked about Civilized? This is it...

Ceramic cartridges are still slower and conduction mostly if I recall correctly.
