Hey everyone, I don't mean to spam your forum and if you feel that I'm doing that, please remove this post and disregard.

For the sake of transparency, this is something we plan on selling, even though we aren't yet.

That said, I was hoping to share with you the idea my partner and I have designed.

I could rattle on for days about how amazing our nugrunner is but you can see yourself on the video.

Note. This is a fully contained plug and play unit. Nothing repurposed. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Thank you

Modnote: This post and the responses were moved into their own thread after the manufacturer was approved.

Nice work @TheNugRunner.
That looks like high quality gear :science:

Please be advised that new manufacturers posting stuff that they intend to sell will have to get their account approved to continue to post!
I'm fairly new here too, and confess that I don't know how you go about getting your account approved, but I imagine that a mod will alert you when they spot your post (?)

In the meantime, can I ask how much you'll be asking for your press?
And where are you based?

Edit:
Oh, and can we see the rest of the press?

Thank you and apologies if I violated your rules. We are based in California. I'm not trying to sell this to anyone here. I couldn't if I wanted TBH. Our first run will be limited and most of the units are spoken for. That said, if anyone is interested in being on the list for our second run, send me a message and I'll keep you on file.
I probably shouldn't discuss prices here. But it will be very affordable. Geared towards the individual user.

All of that aside, we are just really flippin excited about what we've done here. The entire thing was built from the ground up and works beautifully. Here is a shot of the full press.

The electronics are to be mounted in a housing attached to the unit once we move to production. My partner engineered every bit of this (minus the electronics) and I've guided him a long the way echoing the needs and wants of the community. We think we've got a game changer with our knuckle design. We hope, at the very least to inspire you all to think outside of your hair straighteners.

I'm already imagining a rod with a stirrup for a foot lever mod ;)

Great job, I love seeing purpose built stuff at last, well past time IMO

Yeah, your design looks great, and if it's affordable to build/buy then I bet you won't have any trouble selling them if/when you decide to.

What sort of temp's were the plates at for the filming of that video?

Edit:
Oh, and how do you feel about us posting ideas for possible enhancements?
(I'm not assuming that I can improve your design, it's just fun to be able to offer suggestion)

Please give us a ball park range of the price tag ?
What's the psi were you getting with ' human strength ' press ?
What were the temps you were pressing at ?
Are the temps range regulated and can be pre-set ? ( show us that )
What was the yield / % ?

it looked like 1 g was a bit too much to fit in that press , but 1/2 g
would fare better .

But ya , tell us the price tag , it's Not set in stone ...

I agree. We've watched the entire scene evolve and and quickly realized that no one had really come at this thing from the ground up. Everyone always looking for something to re-purpose into a press. We also did that but quickly ran into the same problems everyone else has. Plates warping, inconsistent results, etc.
I like to think of it all as Frankenstein tek.

We started with the plate design. Flat plates warp, and they trap nectar. The knuckle/dimple design really takes into account how the bud behaves under pressure and how the nectar moves away from the heat and accommodates these factors.

Press your hands together and try to hurt yourself. Now press your knuckle into your palm and see what happens. It hurts, yes? This is why we tossed out the flat plates and came up with something new.

And about the foot assist, we're already on it. Even though the mechanical leverage design allows someone small to apply more than enough pressure, the foot assist really helps to balance the load if needed.
Check out our instagram for that and other updates.

We welcome any and all ideas. This entire thing wouldn't be possible without you all there hashing it out.

Were not outsourcing anything except the electronic components, so we are in full control over the design and manufacturing of the plates and the press. If we want to change it, than so it shall be! (we've done that a few times actually).

The temps in the video were 125 C. But we found that strain to be so super sappy, that we (using the hard candy soft crack guide) kicked it up to 132 C. Perfect! We can get away with it because of how the oil moves away from the plates. We've yet to have any burn off. In any event, it will be fully controlled by you, so you can experiment with it. Ultimately it will depend on your strain. So will the yield. Some strains give average returns, others seem to give impossible returns.

From a user stand point, I can say. I love this thing. My partner made it for me and if he took it away I would cry. :(

Looks like it's gonna land at about 420.00 (US) plus shipping. That said, most of the units from the first run are reserved at this point, so if anyone wants to be on the second run/stand by list, I'm happy to add you.

Also, it weighs about 10 lbs and will need to be screwed or clamped to a sturdy surface. We opted out of the bulky base to cut costs for everyone.

The entire gram probably is a bit much, but if you watch in the video, we re-positioned it to squeegee out the edges. That 360 blasting range lets you gauge where the bud is and where the nectar is going. Any nectar that's already there simply moves away, following the path of least resistance. And since it's not being trapped under 20 tons of pressure, it can actually do that. So while, yes a gram is probably a bit too much, it's certainly can be done with minimal loss. This was one of those unintended side affects that we didn't think about. One that turned out to be a really cool feature.

PSI is variable depending on the input. It uses mechanical leverage and has a ratio of 3.75 to 1. More than enough to press a gram.

I mentioned the temps in my other post. But to add to it, yes. It will be controlled with a basic PID unit that will be mounted in a housing attached to the press. Yields are also variable depending on the strain. I don't have one of those fancy scales, but I'd say 25% and more on top shelf/well cured nugs. Probably around 17% for some mids or fresh bud. If you run some brick weed through it, I don't know what to tell you there. (I'm looking at you Brazil).

I've got some experience with Brazilian brick weed and your lack of confidence getting a decent return pressing it is well founded.

This is what $25 gets you in Brazil.

Drumroll please.....

Brazilian brick weed!!

Smells vaguely like marijana. Tastes sorta like a smugglers ass, but it got the job done eventually.

Makes me really appreciate where I live and makes me realize that most of the world is not as lucky as most of us are.

@PoopMachine. We've got all of our parts and now my partner is running the machined parts. We should be able to take pre orders when we start assembling them. I've got you on reserve. Will definitely let you know. Thanks so much for your support. You're gonna be thrilled with it.

@caro-line we've yet to get a fancy scale but for this strain we used it was a little more than what you'd get on average. Average being 12-25 % The frosty factor will determine your yeilds. Or as they say..poop in...poop out.

My friends and I will definitely split one of these. I've had a hell of a time using hair straighteners cause it's so ghetto, and it's hard to get the right force without tipping it to one side.

@Farid this is why we made it. I destroyed a few flat irons myself.
If you want to be notifed when it's ready, let me know. You will absolutley love it. I know this, because I love it.

Have tuned in and will eagerly watch where this is going. If in need of a European Guinea pig I will be more then willing to take a press, euh, gamble for the rest of us and the sake of science, please let us not forget the damned science.

Damned science, just press!!! hihi

How about making them plug and play leaving us the choice to get a Us or European plug? I remember the trouble this meant for vxhale, but my enail runs of both 110 and 220v, just switch the cable...

Thanks for the reply!!!

@tepictoton The heating elements themselves (not just the plug) are 110. This is what we have a surplus of. We had to make an upfront investment in order to make these units and until we can gauge the demand for them we can't commit to acquiring a large inventory of parts.

Or as they say, we don't want to bite off more than we can chew.

Looks awesome, been lurking for some time.

Might you in your next video weight what you are pressing, then weigh your end yield?
We fully understand amount of extraction will also depend on material used, but its nice quick way to quantify the results.

@FlyingLow we definitely need to do that. I hesitate however, because I feel like no matter the results, it's a mis representation of what any given user should expect.

Without weighing anything, I can confidently say that you can squish your nugs until they turn to dust, assured that you got every last drop. We don't claim to be able to get any more or less than you could get from any other extraction technique. Where we set ourselves apart is with useability. It's just easier.

I didnt see anybody else ask this:
Whats up with the little depression in the bottom plate? Wouldn't that be counter productive and be a low pressure zone that attracts oil?

@ictus the dimple on the bottom plates is met by a knuckle on the top plate. It was engineered and machined to very precise tolerances and nests together seamlessly.

The best way for me to explain our thoughts behind is to press your hands together and try to hurt yourself. Now dig your knuckle into your palm and try to hurt yourself. The knuckle concept really digs into the bud and also let's it bend. This let's the oil flow more freely.

Flat plate tech is flawed. Simple as that.

That's a bold* statement there. Care to explain it any better?
Imo, the shape of the plates really does not make any difference whether they are flat or curved, as long as both plates are the same shape, with tight tolerances, to each other.. Simple as that.

@Joel W. I'm not sure I can explain it any better. User experience will determine if what I'm saying holds any merit.
