I realize I maybe came off as somewhat negative regarding the coolgrip issue....I assure everyone, I absolutely adore my Herbie, I guess I just want it to be as perfect as it can be, I don't want any reason whatsoever to be deterring with it.

That said, let's get a little real about the small negatives, they may be picky and certainly not a bad tradeoff for all of it's fantastic features, but there is nothing that can't be improved, to wit:

--tighter cool grips that don't slip off so easily
--less flimsy lid and one that fully closes more securely
--a whip that gets less sticky and less of a dirt magnet

Lastly, one feature I would really appreciate is temperature presets. I would like at least 5 user-programmable preset hotkeys, you could even do it with a single button that cycles through it, it could even be the vaporization mode button to avoid hardware redesign although some may find it annoying to push the button that many times (in that scenario, maybe only 3 presets).

I'm just canoodling. Have a great holiday weekend everyone in the USA! :mmmm:

What's this you guys are saying about the fan randomly going on and off ? Is this a cool down feature ? I don't think I've read or heard this before so just thinking it must be a cool down function to maintain the precise temperature I suppose.

There are a few fans in there for different purposes. The one producing the tiny puffs should be the one that regulates temp inside the bowl. If it is too hot (or if you just lowered the temp) it should blow room temp (cool) air. If you have the bowl to temp and it is sitting around and the bowl cools a bit, it will goose it with some heated air to keep it exactly where you want it to be. And of course that little puff of air has to go somewhere (or the air that has just been displaced has to).

I hope it doesn't just start (the fan) after a take a draw and am just sitting there exhaling vapor? If so I guess paying attention is a must.

If that happens, you have left fan assist on.

I think you'll like fan assist (outside of just balloon use). But you'll see when you remove the whip end from your mouth, vapor just POUR out of that whip-end. There's your reminder to turn that fan off. :)

In the end, I just wanted to figure out what were some solid tempts to use, depending on the situation/thing used

Well....
You do have "intense", "balanced", and "uplifting" as some guidance. :)

I was looking at some reviews of this on YouTube last night ( I am a noob). It looks like a great machine but I think people who question the durability of it are within reason. The top shell is plastic but what about the base ?

I remember reading about the digital version of the Volcano breaking down more often than the analog version. Would this relate to the Herbalizer in any way ? Would it be true to say that analog machines in general have less "service" issues than digital vaporizers ?

I see myself as a whip guy but couldn't you do the same with the Volcano by attaching a whip ?

After watching the video I then asked myself if I could get away with just owning a semi portable vape like the FireFly or the Arizer solo vs owning a desktop version. I session all day which I assume is hard on these machines. For someone that medicates all day which do you think would hold up better under constant use ? digital vs analog / desk top vs portable ?

Otherwise great features on this thing and I wouldn't have known about if it wasn't for Fuck Combustion.

Then we learned we could get insanely medicated insanely fast, so the insanity remained, and is now a status quo among those that love Herbie for its fast arrival at the medicated state of your desire.

Been gone a while, still catching up. I just wanted to say that this is true. Vitolo has captured the "soul" of the Herbie experience right here, better than I have seen it put before.

I'm still vaping my way through hyperspace. In fact, I'm only posting because I am high out of my damned mind, again. And for me, that means I can function, and think clearly. So happy I got this thing, everyday.

445, its the new 420.

Basically, I am a recreational user that wants to get a medium-strong vapor without toasting the weed. I accomplished this on my volcano by starting at 350, ( a bit above where THC vapes at so I figured I'd be getting plenty, and trial and error showed it was a decent place to start), and then raised it a degree or two each time until I was in the 360's. By then it was mostly vaped out (mostly as in, got many decent bags, and at that point it's diminishing returns it felt like). I was going for that in the herbie, albeit due to how it works differently, I really wasn't going to go for the same approach (and shouldn't, as I've already discovered).

In the end, I just wanted to figure out what were some solid tempts to use, depending on the situation/thing used (as some things in regard to that are somewhat universal).

The easy alternative is just starting super high and staying there, the thing economizes bud well enough, so why not. But I guess in the end, having an ideal window to get the best out of it not too quickly seems like a sweet spot to me.

Not to mention it would be good to have a pretty solid idea of where to do my oil once I can get my hands on it again.

With the Herbalizer you wont burn or scorch your weed even at 445F. At least I haven't...that said, if you want a well balanced high and medium strong vapor, I'd try starting at 375F and raise temp incrementally to say 410F. With Herbie, I seriously have trouble getting any visible vapor under 365F.

As for concentrates I would start at 420F and finish at 445F. The extra heat is needed to get full extraction IMO. Try different things, experiment and enjoy!

Interesting observations. I received my Herbalizer yesterday and had the exact same thoughts.

So my herbie came last night...

I knew coming into it that the lid would be surprisingly low quality...

The rubber parts around the bowl are already sloughing off ...

And yeah, the whip is starting to get pretty hot...

There has been much talk of the fan and how it turns on randomly...

I was surprised at how much I liked the bags! ...

Did anyone do a burn-off before their first use, especially with the concentrate pad?
I ran mine (with the pad in it) at 445F for a few minutes and smelled a distinct metal/chemical smell,
but it cleared in just a few minutes.

In addition I too am concerned about the somewhat faint vapor.
I started at the default temperature of 374F, like my old viVape2 and other vape's.
The various flowers I tried delivered their goods and worked their magic, but the vapor was so light.
With waxes I could hardly see any vapor at 445F, but this may have been directly related to my wax
so I will pick up some budder or necter this weekend and try it again.

The jury is still out in the taste category, but so far I am impressed with the first hits.
The vapor is always cool, even without a water attachment.

Last night I loaded more flowers and cranked it up to 420 then finally 445.
It definitely works, without a doubt, but the vapor is just lighter than I was expecting.
I was using ~.20g to .35g my first time around.
My herb for the Herbie was finely ground with a 2-piece Space Case grinder and lightly packed.
I tried fluffy and dense nug's, same result.
I will pick up a 1/4 OZ this weekend, as two split 1/8's so 4 different strains with a mix of indicas,
sativas and hybrids.
My point of reference is my PAX, Solo and my old viVape2.
Not that I am one of the proverbial cloud chasers, I just personally prefer, first and foremost good taste,
followed by a close second of nice solid clouds.

@OF did some testing with the Arizer Solo and some thermocouples and found out that the actual temperatures vary from the stated temperatures by around 8-10C I believe, so using other vaporizers to try and gauge the vapor density of the Herbalizer is kind of hard. I know what you mean though, at lower temperatures the vapor can be quite thin/light blue but it still retains its effectiveness. I guess then it becomes a question of which vaporizer is more accurate with its temperature displays and temps that the flowers are being exposed to? Are you getting thinner vapor because the temperature isn't fluctuating as much? Who knows?

I like to clean all my new vape stuff before using it for the first time, usually with ISO or fire.

I'm about 95% over the old "the thicker the clouds the better" mindset I had with smoking. That other 5% loves milking glass :D

HAAAAA!:brow: I just discovered that a 510 Pyrex mega glass drip tip (bought it for my Luna, posted pic in that thread, will post pic here when I get new batteries for the camera) Anywho, fits the top of the Herbalizer bowl nice and tightly! Thus making it have an immediate glass airpath right from the bowl.:) The balloons fit on way nicer now and are hands free because of the elongated glass piece. I have to wait till later to test it out for flavor but if these tips do the same for Herbie as they did for my Luna and T1 then . I'll try for a pic sometime today and post my balloon taste-testing results as well. Just wanted to share with everyone because these babies are only 5 bucks on ebay  Have a safe and relaxing fourth of July FC! :D

How can they afford to do this, and does Herbalizer know they are doing this?

I'm pretty sure they are partnered. That's the nature of the site. You get a bulk price by joining as a group on Massdrop. I love that site...however my wallet does not. That site has made me become a collector of lots of things that I do not need but are cool as hell!

Providing the two images below for anybody is thinking of making their own adapter.

Great info, thanks for posting. Don't forget the plastic hose adapter can also be part of a nice solution. I am currently using a lowpro 10/14 adapter and the 10mm female end fits nice and snug on the hose adapter. I don't need tubing or anything and it can actually hold a freestanding HT. If I need 18mm, I just insert a 14/18 lowpro adapter. It is not perfect (well, almost), but it is super easy to use and even easier to keep clean.

And to celebrate, I submit for your approval...

The DDave Herbie WT Mod
"Interfacing Herbie with many of your pre-existing Water Tools"
And with NO ALTERATION to your stock Herbie!

The silicone plug seen here can withstand 500F all day long.
The mouthpiece of Herbie does not get this hot, neither does the vapor in transports.

The Whip mouthpiece fits snugly inside the hole I drilled through the plug and takes slight effort to remove. Yeah, I could have made the hole slightly larger, but wanted as tight a grip as possible. Then I've got an air tight seal at the WaterTool as well.

(Note, for those of you who believe the stock Herbie Whip too restrictive, this restrictiveness did not show itself when I used this mod. If I were to draw hard enough on the WaterTool, I could have sucked up a mouthful of water.... I couldn't believe I was using the stock whip!

This setup works for exactly what I was looking for. A reliable way to interface the stock Herbie setup to a water tool I already had owned.

(It was also less expensive than my DDave EQ mod!)

The hole drilled. Not as clean as I'd have liked it, but it's aesthetics only. This thing works to make an air tight seal!

Well I gotta chance to try the glass drip tip and the flavor was definitely better:nod: I had to hold the bag on but the glass seemed to cool the vapor a little more and it was what you would expect from glass. Someone else is definitely gonna have to try this out to see if I'm nuts or not (pic later when the fam goes to bed:tup:) IMO the glass bypasses the hot top off the bowl and the balloon silicone MP. The glass got hot but not too bad. I'm telling you the flavor was definitely a notch up from normal, but I need backup data from someone else to concur, preferably someone with a good pallet.:haw:

Thank you so much.

Was just getting ready to ask if anyone knew of codes or sales.

Had to drop out at initial offering due to new job requirements, but want to order now for two friends as gifts.

May not be able to use anymore myself, but can live vicariously through them.

Thanks, again &

PEACE :peace:
