LOVE MY NEW EQ! Wow! How freakin fun is THIS thing?! First thing I did (after tuning it on and letting sit for a while) was set up stock. It worked wonderfully! I forgot what good vape tastes like. There was a lot of room to play with in temp. Started vaping around 220 I think, and turned it up several times as it quit producing. got all the way up to like 260 I think before I dumped it. Was totally satisfied!

Next up was the new f/f with ssv wand and softer tubing.(what is it again?)

First thing I noticed, they didn't include any screens for my f/f adapter. Had to take one out of cyclone bowl. Not a GREAT start imo.
The screen is a 3/4" and it's WAY too small for the adapter. I need like 1"-1.25" for the "upgraded" adapter.
Also, the middle flare of the adapter almost completely fills the EQ opening. I really thought it would have left more room open.

Adapter now in place with small screen just kinda wobbling there.
I grab my ssv wand, inspect, and suck some herb up inside.
I grab a dome screen and go to place it in the wand. It doesn't fucking fit. In fact, I actually crushed it a bit trying to get it in. Its FAAR from secure!

With everything in as good a place as I'm going to get it, I've lowered the temp back down to 200.
I immediately get a stronger flavor that I did from the first bowl. Started getting awesome vape at 210 and it just lasted forever. By the time I turned it up to 220, it was already time to empty the bowl.
Much better vaping experience with the upgraded gear. It lowers that herb right above that heating element and it makes a HUGE difference.

I just wish the screens fit. I've already had the screen fall out of the whip twice and dump herb onto ny wobbly screen in the adapter. Which then just dumps it onto the heating element.

From here I guess I need to find my 1"-1.25" pipe screens, and figure out what im gonna do about the dome screens not fitting.
Can I maybe sand down the inside of the wand just a hair?

Weird, my EQ dome screens fit like they were made for the SSV wands that I use. They never fall out.
I had the same problem with the other screen not fitting in the F/F adapter, so I just leave it out. I think it gives better airflow without it. There is another screen in the top of the heater cover, so if anything does fall down there I just turn the whole thing over and dump it out.
Nice report, glad you like your new EQ. I've had mine for over five years with only very minor problems.

can you please tell me where you got those elbow glass pieces and silicon tubing. i am having the hardest time finding any :(
They are Silver Surfer water pipe adapters, check out this page. There are also decent quality hoses for a good price.

LOVE MY NEW EQ!
Good as.
That is a real shame about the extra glass you have ordered, though. My adapter takes 25mm/1" screens, but there is a bit of a gap around the EQ opening (it's small but there) If yours is only just fitting, maybe get 1.25", you can always cut it down to size.
In the mean time, use two screens together in the adapter, it works a lot better than one for keeping the heater cover clean, and didn't seem to affect airflow too much.

One of my additional adapters also has bore issues, unfortunately the standard SG fitting 18.8mm only applies to the outside of the glass. I just use a different one that is only a tiny bit smaller than the stock gear. I don't really know what to recommend here, you could try filing the glass down, look into how people have been doing it with the cyclone bowl, and use similar tactics.

I'm just using a standard set up but I do have a bubbler on order.

I'm not sure what the issue is but I think it might be how moist the bud I'm using is.

I've used temps from 400 all the way up to the max and just can't get very much vapor production. I can get very small amounts of vapor for a long time. Meaning I can turn the heat up, crank the fan up to 2 and I can hit the thing many times. I never really get a decent hit just hit after hit with very minimal production.

This makes me think my herb is too moist. Before I left for work today I put my herb in a brown paper bag with a couple of those moisture absorbing packs.

I am hoping this will help. The bud is very sticky and certainly not crisp.

Anyone have any other suggestions? I'm dedicated to making vaporization work but I also want to get high.

Good herbs is the main priority...make sure you have that worked out. My first night vaping with the E was a disaster, as I was a vapor noob. I was hitting it way too hard. I needed to slow down and take a nice, easy draw. If you want to take yourself out of the equation, just use bags until you get the quality of vapor you want. Try a finer grind as well...and stir the bowl regularly.

I think you need to pack the little dome screen that sits in the elbo piece. They referr to it as elbo packing. This is the best way to get thick vapor with the eq. Imo. Good luck and don't give up.

The herb I'm using is good quality home grown but I don't think it was dried/cured properly. Obviously that does take away from the quality but it is potent.

I've tried every fan setting and temp so far. When I get home I'll take your advice and slow it down.

I've been able to get a pretty fine grind but again the bud being so sticky keeps it from getting to the powder consistency.

Just as a temporary solution I'm going to grab a coffee grinder on my way home tonight.

Thanks for your help.

Yeah I should have mentioned that's how I've been using it. Haven't used the cyclone bowl yet, been all elbow packs.

Are the screens cleaned? Thats the only time the extreme q didn't give me vapor. Slow easy draws with the whip...also hit fan speed 1 from remote while your taking a draw. Turn fan off once your done

Bags are my go to with the Extreme Q. Temp 230-235 with fan speed 1.....takes about 5m but nice thick vapor

Good luck

Do a normal grind and use the cyclone bowl with a bag on high temp and low to medium fan speed. I find it very important to get good at using a vape as intended before doing the mods.

Get the bags down pat first, then move to the whip.

Ok. I'll try the bag with the bowl tonight. I actually just picked up a 18m female to female adapter.

I smoke alone most of the time. That's why I've stuck with the whip so far.

you won't need that adapter if you have the cyclone bowl. We also need to get your lingo straight so you stop saying you smoke!

btw, using it as intended will make it easier to determine your problem. It's hard to tell what it is if you switch up the delivery a lot. But if you do the bags like you say, you should be able to get it right, or determine that your unit or herbs has a problem.

Like I said, my first night with it sucked, and I was only using the whip. The bags were easy and later I migrated from them once I figured out how to do it.

A too fine of grind can be a problem too. A coffee grind consistency might be too much of a good thing.

With vaporizing the material needs to be properly cured. Its not like the not so good ole days of smoking when you could dry your herb out a little with the flames. About half way through your bud would finally be dry. It doesn't work that way with vaporizing. Dry your product and you will be good to go. Let it sit out in a dry area for awhile.:leaf::2c:

any 18f-18f adaptor will work so fill your ebay boots i say

as to screen in the adaptor i hae never used one, elbow screen fits ssv wand as lovely as you like so no need. using solo more over recent times it does alarm me how much weed goes in the wand though lol

i wonder if yours is maybe a dbv wand (it is dbv right?)

Lo and Behold! The transformative power of Vapor.
Don't want to repeat everything that I and others have posted on the topic of Ddave adapters. Here is a somewhat shorter version. Feel free to differ::D

The glass heating element of the EQ is an 18mm female which makes it compatible with nearly any other 18mm Male pieces out there. (One of the reasons why there is over 300+ pages of posts to this thread.) The cyclone bowl that comes in the box is well designed for the EQ. The right thickness of glass, the correct dimensions and honestly the more constant temps it is able to keep. Also, The width of the bowl doesn't block the airpath going to the fan and electronics. I would even give consideration of the volume of space inside of the cyclone. It really does work great out of the box and should be a template to work from if you are considering new kit of any kind.

Ddave is essentially a design change on the bowl. It is usually a shorter glass piece that resembles the cyclone bowl. The middle screen is generally closer to the heating element and presumably the elbow piece is closer to the action as well. So this all allows for more radiant heat which tends to cause the more visible vapor.

However, buying a simple squat 18mm to 18mm isn't necessarily a solution. (I made that mistake even after some research.) If the new piece has anything lacking that the cyclone bowl is designed to do well. Then you just bought a downgrade.:( Also the type and thickness of said glass is a factor when keeping a constant temp. (Also another reason to allow adequate time for that glass bowl to heat up before using.)

As for me, the first adapter I bought looked perfect in the picture. It is one of the $9 ones sold on Ebay and DHgate. But I never got the actual outer and inner dimensions before buying and ended up being wrong on all three counts. The thickness of the glass, The center width of the outside dimension was too wide which would have blocked the airpath, and even the larger amount of air volume inside the adapter made this a FULL downgrade. For $5 more I could have had one made closer to my specs. You get what you pay for. But for a few dollars more, you can be that much choosier.;)

No worries for me tho, I have since then re-purposed that $9 adapter to make all my portables vapes into whip vapes.:science:

Yeah, I even used to smoke cigs but moved on to vaping. There is no smoke in my life now!

Absolutely going to be using the bag tonight. Hopefully I'll see some improvement.
