No, not the movie ... :disgust:

The drinks!

What are your favorites? What do you serve? How do you like 'em? Garnish or not? Are deconstructed cocktails annoying?

All these questions and more can be answered by simple FC folks like you! (And yes, even YOU. You know who you are.)

I'm a sucker for the classics. Bloody Mary, Harvey Wallbanger, Manhattan, Greyhound, Cosmopolitan, White Russian, Tequila Sunrise, Pina Colada, Sex On The Beach, Tom Collins, Old Fashioned, Moscow Mule, Mint Julep, Rusty Nail, Sloe Gin Fizz, etc.

But when push comes to shove ... dammit, I don't care how girly it is - I want a Margarita!

But you better put it in a lowball glass, and you better be using Patron or Cabo Wabo, plus Cointreau or Grand Marnier or Patron Citronge, and you better have some damn fresh lime juice! And don't spare the salt! :nope:

And in this case, I do insist on the lime garnish.

And I'll just post this now so no one else feels the need to ...

While wine is my usual go to for a bevy, I do love a good cocktail. Had one a couple weeks ago that I really enjoyed; vodka, St. Germain liqueur, grapefruit juice & soda. Light and refreshing.

However, in 'the day' my favorite was a dirty martini, made with a high quality vodka and served on ice.

And I have to agree with you on the margaritas @EveryDayAmnesiac. There's nothing better on a hot summer day.

I do enjoy a cranberry and vodka before dinner. Notice I didn't call it a Cosmo. I've been told that, as a guy, I must refrain from using the common term or suffer the indignation of being aligned with Sex In The City while being a guy. I don't understand the derogatory nature of said alignment but will steer clear as directed.

Why is cranberry and vodka my choice...because I have been told that the cranberry is good for my colon/prostate and that vodka is the generally accepted least harmful alcohol. I hate to over think these things...which will end shortly before dinner :brow:.

Right now I can't drink because of liver toxicity from pharmaceuticals that I am trying to heal BUT I will tell you about a chaser that I am taking right now, N'Acetyl L-Cysteine or NAC. NAC helps neutralize the byproducts of ingested fats and alcohol metabolism and protect the body from the damaging effects of chemotherapy, cigarette smoke, heavy metals, and various other substances. NAC has been used successfully to detoxify the body, especially the liver in cases of acetaminophen poisoning. It also helps people suffering from alcohol poisoning and those who are simply feeling hungover after a night of drinking. Dr. Gray recommends taking 2 caps, 1,000 mg, and lots of water when ingesting alcohol. For a full description see Dr. Gray's website and his video summary below.

Disclaimer: I am not a doctor and this post is not medical advice, its simply what I am doing for myself and it may not be right for you. Consult your physician.

NAC helps repair muscle tissue, build connective tissue, detoxify the liver, fight viral infections, and slow down aging.

N'Acetyl L-Cysteine, also called NAC, contains a highly stable form of l-cysteine, an important sulfur-containing amino acid. So NAC is basically the supplemental form of the amino acid L-cysteine.

However, when cysteine is ingested as a supplement, it is oxidized and gets burned up rather quickly by the body. NAC is much more stable. NAC helps neutralize the byproducts of ingested fats and alcohol metabolism and protect the body from the damaging effects of chemotherapy, cigarette smoke, heavy metals, and various other substances.

NAC has been used since the 1960's to help treat respiratory conditions by helping thin mucus and increase immunity and may be especially useful for people with chronic bronchitis, which is often associated with smoking. Preliminary studies indicate that NAC may also help increase levels of a type of immune cell called CD4+ in both healthy people and people with HIV.

The antioxidant properties of NAC have been shown to help muscle tissue recover more quickly after exercise. NAC has been used successfully to detoxify the body, especially the liver in cases of acetaminophen poisoning. It also helps people suffering from alcohol poisoning and those who are simply feeling hungover after a night of drinking.

NAC is coveted for its anti-aging properties, most likely connected to its role in the substantial release of glutathione in the body, which fights the cellular damage of oxidative stress, a key to fighting against aging. Its ability to inhibit viral replication may be useful in fighting viral infections from HIV to the flu. NAC can also help with the formation of skin and hair.

Unchecked free radicals are also believed by researchers to be a major factor in the process of aging because they cause both cellular and DNA damage. Couple this with the fact that glutathione levels can drop by up to 35% as we age, and NAC, which both fights free radicals and increases glutathione levels, may help slow this "natural" process. It also has an impact in the formation of skin tissue.

NAC (as cysteine, which it becomes once in the body) is an integral component of connective tissue — tendons, ligaments, and the soft tissues that support our joints. Along with a number of other nutrients (like Vitamin C), it is actually part of the material that comprises the connective tissue. NAC is used by elite athletes who have suffered tears and partial tears of connective tissue as part of a post-surgery recovery strategy. In more mild cases, it can help reduce joint inflammation and the pain that goes with it.

Hold up.... if you're just adding cranberry juice and no fresh lime juice and Cointreau or triple sec.... I have good news for you. What you're drinking is called a 'Cape Cod.'

Love that!

For reasons already stated I'm not admitting to the addition of lime and triple-sec but I would like to offer up a compromise in the beverage name .... Cape Codmo.

Making a really good Margarita is an art form and I have known no better place that does it better than a hole in the wall Mexican restaurant in Los Angeles called El Coyote. The absolute best. Not only did they taste great but I swear that they must have put something else in their Margarita's other than just tequila and Cointreau 'cause they fucked me up more than any other drink that I have ever had anywhere else and this includes some of the best places in Cabo, San Felipe, Mexico City and Acapulco.

I have, on occasion in the past, made a version of the Cape Cod in my lab. Hell I used to live there. Anyways its Everclear, or Clear Spring, on ice, with a splash of Botanic Choice cranberry extract that I use in my diffusers. Not doing this any more though . . .

I usually follow two very strict recipes (or procedures, if you prefer a more scientific approach).

The first of which is the "i dont give a fuck" where ill pour it into a glass, i may even add ice or wash the glass beforehand......

The second (this is the culmination of many, many, shitty years of relentless shit science, wolves and stuff. So better come correct ) is coined the "i REALLY dont give a fuck". Where you drink it straight from the bottle... To make this 100% to spec, You can even break it so you save the few seconds it takes to open it, hence the name because then you really dont give a fuck:nope:

Edit: Disclaimer etc... anything i post is not to be attempted at home, i am not responsible for your glassy shit scraped ass....

I found that if you just drink more its like those commercials where you sleepwalk but arnt really sleeping. The only side effects ive noted (theyre minor also imo) are that then you impregnate helga.

Its always nice to move to a new place where no one knows you or can send you bills.
