Hey FC! It was time to open this thread and hopefully as this brilliant idea helped me to love vaping even more, it will do some good for you too!
I got the idea from a post Alan made here: http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/the-hi.4693/page-26#post-186374, although it was also already mentioned here 2 years ago: http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/ssv-idea.165/#post-31832. Cudos to Alan and the rest of the guys! At least I, owe you one for making vaporizing a much better experience!
I am sure some of you have already been using this even before I discovered it and others just made one recently. I hope through this tread we can evolve this concept even more and watch people come out with some really interesting variations!

For me the pros of using a vapor lung instead of a bubbler/bong or direct draw are the following:

    1) Cheap, almost free construction, anywhere you want to be. Being on a trip or a visit to a friend's house, you can just carry the cap and reducer or just the cap (you 'll see later) and make one vapor lung on the spot.

    2) Idiot proof! Doesn't break if it falls so you can pass it to your most clumsy friends and be cool about it.

    3) Easy cleaning! Just replace bag and wash bottle with warm water and soap. No more costly ISO (for some of us it's really expensive)!

    4) Drag free! One of the worst problems people face with their vaporizers. Difficult draw even gives headaches to some people, including me. Not any more. The Lung is doing the hard work for you. Everyone can enjoy free flow vapor, just like you do from any bag vaporizer (without the cost and complexity)! That saved my teeth, tongue and throat guys. No drug means you can clean this in a sec instead of having a steady flow of vapor hitting the mouth and throat for 10-30 secs. Additionally a session can be greatly shortened. A quick session on the lung takes me just 4 mins sometimes, for a full bowl. Of course I can enjoy it at a slower pace if I want but I can't equally hurry if needed with direct inhaling or bubbler. You would need a very big bong for this... So it can be REALLY fast for you to medicate!

    5) It's the ultimate customizable platform!!! The Thermovape pales in comparison! We're talking Infinite number of bodies and accessories!!! You could even make one for every occasion. Big, small, huge, humongous (for parties  ), nano (for the cat or baby ), for every room, for the pool (???), anything can go...

    6) Even if you have only one, you can use it almost anywhere with ease. Standing up, on the couch, lying on the bed, walking. A bubbler might be preferable on a desk though...

    7) It's the best party accessory of course! Make a big one, fill it yourself (you know how to do it better after all!) and then just pass it around reminding the people to respect the beast! You wouldn't want to do that with your precious 400$ bubbler/bong right? It takes more time and is very fragile! I have seen numerous posts about broken glass here...

I will leave you to add more pros here...

The Cons? Hmmm, Not so nice to look at... My mother didn't like it for sure... To some might look like you are sniffing glue... Definitely not something to suck in public although I used it in a crowded University camping this summer and girls would come, ask AND try! :D

So, let's go to how you make one... Fairly easy for most people, just pay attention to a couple of details for best experience and less problems on the way.

First find a nice hard plastic bottle. You don't want a flimsy soda bottle as it's sides will be sucked in and you won't have much sucking force. I used a huge 5lt wine bottle in this instance. Dedicated to mvapes!

Cut the bottom as straight as you can with a pair of scissors or sharp blade.

Melt the rough ends with a lighter so the bag won't tear.

Get an appropriate sized food bag (I prefer it cause it's softer) or a turkey bag if it suits you and check for holes. You need it to be able to fill the inside of the bottle when sucked in...

tape it around the bottom of the bottle with electric tape or gaffer tape or similar...

Put a tie-wrap at the end and roll some tape above it for a good central grip...

Melt the cap at the center with a hot iron skewer or similar and work your way to the outside of the cap with a circular motion, trim, and press a 18/14 GonG reducer in... You all know how much better GonG is right? And it will suit most GonG vapes of course!

If you are carefull enough you won't need any sealant. Pressure is enough to achieve an airtight fit. Otherwise try some silicon or just electric tape.

That was it folks. Party vapor lung ready for my guests! I also call him "bed time"... :ko:

You can customize with stickers of course, jambandphan03, I know you want it!

Get crazy mates! I hope we see some good ideas around here to make this even better.

Usage videos will follow shortly but feel free to start without me if you feel like it! Let's milk those bottles!!! :science:

Supermarket... And I haven't yet seen, tasted or smelled anything suspicious with the temps involved... which are very low by the way at that point. :2c:

I guess an oven bag (turkey bag?) can be used instead if there are worries...

when you use this with the solo..... what temp do you use?? when i use my solo dry i use 4 to start and 6 to finish. when i use my solo with water a little higher temp is required so i start at 6 and end with 7, or sometimes just start at 7 and stay there. so i am curious if using the vapor lung if a higher temp is required or can lower temps be effective?

Doesn't matter mate! Any temp will do! If I press the load a little bit in the bowl to fit more I can whitewall the big 3lt bottle at 2! You can adjust harshness of vapor by partially filling the bottle and topping with fresh air to thin it out and make the hits smoother... It's not about temps... It's about vapor/air ratios. The thicker the mist the harsher the hit. If you hit it very fast it's also harsh.

Thanks so much for creating a thread just for the Vapor Lung. Very detailed and informative.
They are such cool devices. Perfect party device for all the reasons you stated. I recently took 3 to a party. People were skeptical at first but really loved the taste it provides. You are able to see exactly how much vapor your are taking. Never too big of a hit. We used it through a Filter Flask setup which really caused the bottle to collapse. We found that the lid from a 1 gallon jar fits perfectly over the open end of the bottle. Just need to cut out the middle so that the rim provides support for the bottle and then tape it to the bottle so it won't collapse. I like to use clear packing tape so it looks a little cleaner. Either way, the tape is only on the outside and not part of the vapor path. The vapor is only exposed to the poly bottle and whatever food safe diaphragm / bladder bag you select. The heavier / stiffer the bottle, the better. I like using regular 1 gallon storage bags because they are not as noisy as cooking bags.

There are many possibilities for the hole in the cap. The hole could be sized for the plain end glass Solo roasting tube. It could really be adapted for almost any vaporizer. Even the Cloud.
Some really big VL's could be constructed that would really test someones lung capacity.

Hope to see some more innovation on this thread.

I've noticed some of this after the second session utilizing a vapor lung. Filling the bag at a 7 and hitting it quick, and then recycling that hit is a killer way to compress a session into just a couple of minutes. Unfortunately, It is more irritating on the throat than having some mixed air and slowing down.

Why do you exhale and then inhale all that CO2? Hmmmmmmm soda bottles aren't good enough. I will make one with the seltzer bottle I bought yesterday and try it anyhow but will be on the lookout for a better bottle. I only drink water so I never have bottles except glass.

ili thanks for doing this. I asked and you were nice enough to spend the time.

I make sure to breathe a bit inbetween, and I just recycle to gain efficiency. "kills" the hit"

Really, I'm not sure how much good it does as I've not experimented, and my tolerance isn't consistent enough for me to trust any difference I suppose... but It makes sense in my head hehe.

It makes sense to me too as exhaled vapor is wasted vapor but I don't do it often. I prefer the cooler fresh hits. Exhaled vapor is warmer and doesn't feel nice in my mouth.

The sky is the limit!!! :science: Thanks again Alan for your first inspiring thoughts on the lung! Completely changed the experience of vaporizing at home for me since I can't afford expensive equipment...

And a funny video of using a lung I found at youtube (notice the special "bird stance" in order to make it smoke!!!

I don't think rebreathing into the bag does anything.

I need to learn more but I mocked one up today. Unfortunately my solo broke and need a new one. I then said I can't do this work and not try it. All I got to do on the solo was pull once and it was weak. I then had the bright idea to use the mouth piece from the INH and wala. I still have to learn how to make it correctly and how fast to pull the bag. The vapor in the bottle was light which is fine with me. One hit was harsh which I didn't like. I also made my bag crooked which effects the pulling of it. Here is my bad example of mini vapor lung alla if you have no skills.

Pretty isn't really the point anyhow, functionality is and it does work now that I fixed it. I have to read the first post again on pull speed and such. I think I can load one hit and be good. I just have to figure out how much herb is one hit.

It's a great tool for one hitters or people that are in a hurry for sure... A normal stem load of the Solo (0.1-0.15g) gives me 3 full bottles and that's all that it takes usually. The best lung application I have found so far is for parties or gatherings where you don't need to explain to everybody how to suck and stuff. You just fill the lung with whatever density vapor you feel your guests can handle and you pass it around. I have found the lung to be more capable of convincing people of the benefits of vapor by not going through the explaining ritual! When I have the Solo in my hands these days I usually treat the stem like a cigar and suck on it like you do with a PAX... That gives me super smooth hits and don't need a vapor lung. My lung is used for fast sessions mainly these days. Like a bong hit but better IMHO for vapor. I have found the taste through the lung is more pronounced and intense than from a bong or bubbler.

i really have to make one of these. i have a reducer i use for my solo with my ZOB right now...... if i use the reducer in the cap for the lung... is it permanently there?? or can i take it out and still use it with my bubbler?? i i only ask cause it "seems" the reducer should be "sealed" to the cap of the lung and if that is the case removing the reducer would break that seal

I used an INH tube on the cap and then ended up sealing it because it still had air leaks. I am sure if you are good at making circles you should be able to create a seal without doing what I did. I did a decent job but then slipped a little so it had a little hole outside the circle. I can't draw a circle let alone make one in a plastic cap.

    Salutations,

Hummm... Maybe that's too bad but i'm not into "re-breathing" such bio-hazard ballons, sorry! Ha! Ha!

Seriously, those little microscopic creatures expelled through a human mouth ain't appealing at all as it's likely to ruin whatever remains of aroma & taste anyway - unless those living things got effectively removed BEFORE they could re-enter this sort of contained exhalation loop, that is!...

Otherwise don't do it or simply throw away contaminated bags!!

    :uhoh:

Consequently, if "re-breathing" is in order then i'd point out that sticky tape ain't too convenient under the circumstances; a glue-less/tape-less setup might be more suitable in a situation where the individual has chosen to evaluate a consumption method implying frequent ballon replacements...

Yet, even after water-filtering my own exhaled cannabic vapour it's still not clear i'd want to try it: i currently prefer to NEVER put anything else than dry cannabic vapour in a bag as i know i'll want to "reclaim" using concentrated alcohol mist, eventually...

    :peace:

I never re-breathe nowadays as the dry days are hopefully over until next crop! If it happens to re-breathe though I wouldn't see it any differently than blowing vapor to a friends mouth and he/she getting high from that. I have read people doing that frequently with their girlfriends... Yes we exhale AND inhale microbes and bacteria and micro organisms with re-breathing but there is nothing un-natural with them or harmful if the other person is healthy. Otherwise he/she should be quarantined away from people... All these tiny creatures are with us since the dawn of man, lets not be hostile to them right?

Now, if we could find a glueless solution, that would be great as the bag needs changing at least every two weeks for me. It's not the condaminations, it's because it gets sticky and smelly and the bottle needs cleaning from resins and some bits and pieces...
