    Thanks steama :)
Your the only other person I know on here that has a super !
I can swap heater covers out right ?I know the super works best with spherical. However I bought this @DDave ssv mod kit and still haven't used it !! Really hoping my current ground glass works on the super. I believe it may since you said the air comes from the bottom. Lol I just want a functioning ssv/sssv ! It'd like a tease having one but not being able to use it properly

Called 7th Floor. They informed the heater cover on the Super Surfer had a tension bar that held the heater cover in place and would accommodate the 18mm Ground Glass heater cover snugly.

Dave.... I'm touched. Some people I know wouldn't go out of their way to make a phone call but a stranger ,past tense on that :), did !
I feel so much understanding and friendliness on this forum. Thanks guys !

Correct me if I'm wrong...your saying you get the same efficiency with the ddave mod as you do by simply using the super with no mods or extras ?
Even then...I still want to try this damn mod!dave seems like a super cool guy I feel obligated at this point

All respect to those involved, but in order to compare two things, one must have both of the things being compared. Testing must be done from the same unit as well, as even vaporizer units made during the same manufacturing runs vary in performance.

^^^^ This is by no means a chop at a very awesome vaporizer! I have no doubt that any 7th floor tower fails to perform.

It's just like the lsv. That WPA and heater cover both are spherical.
Super is finally almost out for delivery. After going to three different destinations in Georgia
Already decided first thing I'm doing is a big bag :D

I won't be able to get a review up for a could of days, but the short update is this is the best bag blower ever (didn't try the wand yet) for at least two significant reasons!

I'll check back in tomorrow or Monday for more.

So, do bags actually taste good? I always imagined they'd be kind of musty, at least by the end. Like bong seconds or something.

Considering I just ordered my SSV and a Sic nail it'll have to be a while before I consider an upgrade to a Super Surfer, but if the bags are actually good I might have to consider it at some point. Maybe by then they'll have cooler color options :p

I'm still dialing in my best technique. The stock configuration is going to require stirring to avoid charring of the top of the load when blowing bags (or turning the temp further down than I am currently using). I'm trying to see if I can come up with some sort of DDave type mod for blowing bags.

What's great about them is how easy it is to assemble the bags, the glass feel of the delivery, and the customization of the temp and fan speed is analog, so can dial in the exact temp and speed you want to get the vapor just like you want it. More testing to come...

Ok, I'm ready to start talking about this thing...it's one of my favorite vapes! The unit is built on the SSV standard which absolutely rocks, but it's clear to me they changed some things they've been wanting to change for a while about the SSV.

First, there are some minor differences, like the cord being moved to the opposite side of the unit. I like this because the old cord would have to make a quick u-turn when the heater cover was facing you for use. But now you can hit it normal with the cord coming out the other end and not cause any strain on the cord.

Another improvement is the angle of the heater cover. It is facing more downward to reduce blowback, and they have pinches in the heater cover (they look like ice pinches) to keep what might sneak through from getting to the ceramic element. While I usually get a pile of abv left behind in my SSV, I get none in this unit.

I decided to pimp mine out with a wave rider graphic, and I recommend it. My first tour with the SSV was with a standard silver unit back when my mentality was all about the vapor and nothing else. Once I pimped out my standard SSV this time around, I knew I wouldn't want a standard silver super surfer. Anyhow, I've finally graduated to enjoying my vapes being customized and I'm not turning back.

The unit also comes standard with the aromatop, which I highly recommend...so that's another $15 you won't have to fork out for one of my favorite accessories. It also comes with the hands free adapter...another $15 value. Which leads me to my only downside...no ground glass heater cover option yet. I like the ground glass cover so I can go hands free while still using my aromatop. I think they will get to this option eventually, but for now I compromise.

I agree with Steve from 7th Floor about the light effects. He says they added them because 'why not?', and I have to agree...I love them! I always have mine on the setting that gradually rotates between all the colors. But it looks sexy and can be turned off when you don't want them.

Also gone is the little light that lets you know the unit is on. You can check now by having the effect lights on.

With the new angle of the heater cover, even less heat is transmitted to your load when it is sitting there in hands free mode without being hit. It's now my nightcap king. I'll set it up hands free with a nice wand loaded and just relax, hitting it as needed until I pass out. If I remember to disconnect it and put the aromatop back on, even better. But since this thing can be left on all the time, it's easy on the mind when using for a nightcap in case you fall asleep.

That's pretty much everything I can think of right now except for the bags.

The bags are some of the best in the business, and here's why. (I've owned a Zephyr Ion, an Arizer Extreme Q, an Herbalizer and an Herbalaire for bag blowers, but never a Volcano, for reference.) First, other than the bag and the valve system, all the parts are glass. This doesn't effect taste so much as it makes it feel high class. Second, the valve system they use is simple and elegant. It's like the shutoff valve in your house's plumbing...a paddle that clogs the path when shut and frees it up when open. There are a couple of steps to get down to use it best, but it isn't much and is easily figured out. But the bottom line is we have a great system for having a sealed bag of vapor that won't leak. Third, the temp and fan knobs can be adjusted on the fly, so you can tweak the bag blowing to be just like you want it. Using the SSV is a simple dance between draw speed and heat setting, and the bag system lets you mimic and adjust that to any level you want...I love it! Finally, these are the easiest bags to set up I've ever encountered. The glass pieces are big enough to easily handle, and the entire system is built on tension...there are no rubber o-rings to deal with or any pulling and stretching needed to get the bag on right. I got it on my first try, whereas I could never get an Arizer Q bag to go back together right. In a matter of a minute or two I could easily change the bag out to a bigger one for parties!

Finally, the price. It retails for $550, but should be on sale for $420 on the 7th Floor site for a good little while now. If you choose to use my link to get 10% off, that brings it to $378, and if you private message me directly instead, we can work out a little more off. Either way, it is an incredible value for a top of the line whip vaporizer that is very versatile and also does great bags. I'm really enjoying mine and am glad I listened to @steama about how much he likes his. Given the amount of pack in accessories the Super goes for, combined with the discounted price and my even deeper discount, I highly recommend this unit over a standard silver surfer!

Oh, I wasn't aware of this thread, not sure how I missed it.

Thanks for the heads-up on your review, stickstones; very informative.

Question: If you set the heat to max and the fan on low, will cannabis combust? Is it easy to find a temp and fan speed that will turn your ABV almost black?

Thanks for all the info. :)

It's heating up now. I'll give it a go and let you know from a fresh bowl. I have combusted in it before blowing up a bag my first night. I had it set way too high with some really dry abv. When testing, I usually try to combust to find the upper limit.

    EDIT:

That did what I thought it would. Bad taste and strong, stoney effects. That's about as close to combustion as you can get, and purists would say it was partial combustion. I'm hammered, though. To combust in this thing you need to pack it full of abv and turn it all the way up.

Awesome, great reply, great pictures, that abv looks spent and that vape looks dense in that bag.

Now I know the heating element can be left on for extended periods, but I assume you'll want to keep the fan off... is it noisy? And is the control for the speed of the fan independent of the switch to turn on the fan, or do you just have to remember the setting and adjust it every time you shut it off then turn it back on?

Sorry if these questions have already been answered. Thanks again.

The fan is not noisy. You can hear it, but at no point has it ever bothered me.

Both the temp and fan knobs turn the unit off as well, so you will set it every time you use it. Theoretically, you could leave it on all the time at the same temp and just turn the fan on and off as needed. Controls are old school analog, which allows you to really dial in your fan speed. The fan speed is the same for the first half (or so) of the dial and then it adjusts in real analog fashion. But the fan 'feels' solid and I don't doubt I could leave it on to blow up as big a bag as I'd want. I like to rotate the wand some while blowing up a bag, and it helps to stir it. If I don't, I usually get a little burn in one area at higher temps. Now that I have settled to a much lower temp, which is surprisingly satisfying in its thickness, I never have an uneven cook, even without rotating.

One other miniature gripe is the air inlet screens on the bottom are a pretty coarse gauge. Earlier in the thread it was discussed that a HEPA filter would work better, like supplied with the Zion and the Volcano. I agree and have started looking for a filter to cut and place in there. This is super minor, but I mention it as to not leave anything out.

I'm trying to convince myself to purchase the Super despite already owning a Silver. I've always wanted an automated air system for the SSV, because I like to get my ABV dark and when I get stoned/tired/spacey I sometimes zone out and accidentally combust. Seems like the air system would prevent that.

I dont have a portable vape so maybe I ought to get the Mighty first and then get the Super a little bit later, and perhaps they'll update/upgrade it, like the air screens and small things like that....

The first time I heard about the Silver Surfer I thought, "man, this vape would be perfect if it had a good air system that would regulate a precise temp"... and now here's the Super. My lazy side is screaming at me to buy it because of how much more relaxing it'll probably be at the end of the night when you're tired and blazed...

I could leave my current Silver Surfer over at my friend's house. He doesn't have a vaporizer and I let him try my SSV and he loved it.

So a Mighty and a Super at the same time... hmmmm... I might actually do that...

What's strange though is I'm never ever usually this decisive... Perhaps I should pull the trigger before my debilitating doubt kicks in, hah. :p
