Storage Ideas

Whatever jars you decide on, make sure that after it's loaded with bud, that there is the least amount of free airspace available. In other words, don't get jars that are too big for your stash. The smaller, the better.

Very good point. The curing process will continue when jarred. Most people put their stash away too dry to cure properly. You need the right ratio of air and moisture for the aerobic bacteria to develop and do their job: break down chlorophyll. Also, if you don't leave any moisture in the buds there will be no true cure: increasing potency through a rotation of the THC molecule by slowly removing the water (thca to thc). It's a fine line leaving just enough moisture and air to allow these interactions while creating an environment where the bacteria die off once their job is done (not too much air and water). Unfortunately, only acquired experience will teach one how to do this properly. I also think glass is the only option for proper storage. You can always paint or duct tape the exterior to light proof if necessary.

i love these mini bonne maman jam jars! i found some at cost plus world market the other day and they are perfect for a gram of herb. i like the idea of larger mason jars for storage and using these for a gram and then refilling as needed.

Zip-loc bag is even cheaper! ;)

Keeping my nugs safe from air and UV radiation while being nearly indestructible is worth the $12.50 to some, I'm sure. Also think they would fit in the pocket better than the jelly jars.

Just my :2c:

If you have some sitting around already, however, you can't beat free!

You can find cheaper alternatives to JyARz, no doubt about it. But if you want to store in glass, block UV, protect against breakage and keep you stuff fresh for a very long time I think you'll be hard pressed to find a better container. And if you consider the long term expenditures you'll make in your organics I think you'll find the $12.95 for a JyAR is well worth the expense.

How anyone tried both JyARz and CVault? I think I will be trying one or the other, and was curious what your opinions were.

I do not care about the humidipaks in the CVault. I would most likely remove them anyways. Outside that aspect, which do you guys prefer?

Yes, I have both.

I use Jyarz... with regular glass mason jars with oxy-sorb packs as backup.

My CVaults I use as grinding/mixing bowls, mostly. Humidipaks aside, which I have used, I don't find them nearly as "airtight" as a mason jar. They do work well for transporting, however. I have a rather large one just for transportation of medication. Mason jars need to be kept in the dark.

Jeez. No love for Cvaults?

Maybe it's merely because I can't just run to the store anytime I want to and get my meds, but I prefer to use the Cvaults and JyARz as a symbiotic team.

I have material in my Cvaults that have been there well over a year, and are still as scrumptious as the day I found them. (Like how I used "found" there?)

As much as I love my JyARz, I don't see them keeping material as good as new for well over a year, not without a Humidipak. This is why I like having them both. One for long-term, and one for relatively short-term.

This is also why I have 9 Cvaults and 8 JyARz! They work best together, IMO. :)

I have been using a CVault since last year, for long term storage, and I really like it a lot. :)

For short term storage, I've been using a Tightvac. Do you think JyARz is a better choice than Tightvac?

What is everyone's comparative opinions of Tightvac vs. JyARz? :)

I prefer the JyARz to the Tightvac, but I've only used 1 Tightvac, so I don't know how useful my opinion is.

FWIW, I found my herbs to get uncomfortably dry in the TightVac, even after just 1 week. I decided rather quickly to just store my extra Humidipaks / Boveda paks in my Tightvac, if for no other reason than to just not let the Tightvac go to waste.

I was really not impressed with my Tightvac. I would go so far as to say I really didn't like it.

I use jYarz, cvault, and CoolJarz.

The CoolJarz I use for abv or cleaning screens.

The jYarz I use to hold 2-3g at time normally what I'm using for the week.

And the Cvault holds 7g to 14g for at least a month or two.

I don't want to live a life without my jyarz anymore! I keep my choice buds in there for the end of the bag, or just for few weeks. They come out the exact same as when I put them in, still sticky as pungent when you break it up. Ground material stays good for as long as it takes you to go through it. Small enough to put anywhere and it can hold enough for the day (hopefully :D). I'm excited for the bigger ones to store more at a time in the same system and not using mason jars anymore.
