if it works well with partial loads you'll hit all the market needs!
Yeah I got it today actually. It's not bad for like $25. I kinda like the unique design. Feels good in the hand. Does take a bit to get used to while drawing. I just ordered a heat sink mainly to just raise the atty up a bit.
As for the TC, yeah I hear ya. Seems to do ok on the few draws I had with my DT V3. My ultimate plan is to use it with the Herc so TC won't matter anyway. For now it's not as good as my Pico running Arctic Fox but seems to do much better than my Smok Alien 85 which ain't saying much. Lol
It does stand up but will topple over if nudged the right way. No big deal for me really as most times it's just going in and out of my pocket.
Removable battery is awesome and makes this a no brainier over the Tesla Stealth.
How are things progressing - did u get a prototype?
Ordered prototype, working to optimize parts for manufacturing. I'll post all about the prototype when it's up and running
Hey everyone, we are almost done redesigning the ModPod to be manufacturable. In the mean time check out this demo with high temp resin 3d printed parts and some off the shelf screens, basket screen, and build deck.

...im surprised that there are not more of these type of atomizers being developed and FLOODED the market already...
...i'm all in for a dry herb style '510' atomizer
(it may be the future of portables?)
There are plenty and have been for years. The only problem is they either combust or didn't get enough vapor. I even took part in beta testing the Boom nova in 2015, It did vaporize just not all that much and killed batteries if you did get it to produce decent. I would expect to see plenty more of these in the future, We got two others coming out soon and some diy ones that work wonderful finally.
...agreed, the couple i've tried have been disappointing... i'm still surprised how little there are in this arena...
how do you feel about the performance in the video? Keep in mind this model isn't incorporating the vapor cooling chamber (which should increase heat size and reduce vapor harshness) and is using a .1 basket screen vs our .25-.3 herb pod.
...looks good in the video to me... really hard to tell without testing for yourself.. i'm defo picking one of these up when in production ... ill tell you then
Looking Good Mon!

Here is a demo of a possible stem adaptor top to replace the herb pod assembly and cooling chamber. The 18mm male to male piece makes it a lot easier to see how much vapor youre getting when hitting dry.
I could definitely see using the stem adaptor for heavy hits at home and the herb pods on the go for stealth
So whats the timeline for the modpod?
Our goal is still to get to market by the end of 2017. We have experienced multiple delays due to manufacturing difficulties with our august models and have done another full overhaul with the build deck, cooling chamber, swap pods and more.
As of yesterday our latest revision has been sent to our prototype source, should hear back with an eta by next week (bar any more complications) Once we have a titanium prototype in our hands and test all aspects, then we will have a better idea of the road ahead. Currently talking to an investor with experience in other cross market products to potentially speed up the prototyping process and fund some start up capital. Crowdsourcing or preselling may be an option too, but with all the unexpected delays we have had so far I'm wary of taking people's money until I know for sure I can get the piece in their hands on schedule.
First Prototype is nearly finished!
This is looks awesome @supershredderdan , congrats!
Could you mention the size or post a comparative pic with a 18650 battery or something else...
Looking beautiful. Can’t wait to test one of these bad boys out! Good luck with the rest of the process. Keep me in mind when sending out test units. I was the guy who walked you through the process which ended up becoming the Divine Castle RDA
Dude nice work!
Looks great ! I guess the concept is similar to the Project/Shitfucker ? Are the coils still glow red like in the video with the previous prototype ?
beautiful. only worry is heat cuz it looks like it would have the same problem with heat as the hopper does. guess we will see, glad to see you coming along though, nice to see people follow through with ideas.
Wow, this device is really coming along, can’t wait to see more!
How is the temperature controlled? Will it be user technique or will it be possible just to set the right settings on the mod and it’s consistent?
It is the latter ,It should run in TC mode just like the TUBO.
I just wonder if it is going to have custom firmware or it would just use the stock firmware of the mod.
Wow looks good mate! Can't wait to see more about it
Looking good Dan! Nice to see this project going forward. The mod pod looks pretty slick, like a oversized but not conspicuous RDA. Heat sink is cool. I'll look forward to testing / purchasing this piece when it's ready. Still 24mm base? PPN, it looks like it may be a tad longer or nearly as tall as an 18650? (~65mm)
For sensitive-throated people like myself, maybe the vapor on the modpod may be too harsh to enjoy straight-up, dry mouthpiece, with no water, but it looks like it will be able adapt to water tools easily
Now we want to see the insides of the modpod too...
Hey...I didn't even notice the coils glowing through the 3d printed plastic body in the earlier prototype, how did I not see that? If the convection coils are indeed SS, and you had it on TC-SS mode at a reasonable 420F, (and TC-SS is one of the lowest usable settings on a TC mod) I wonder why the coils were glowing?
I know you may need hotter temperatures at the metal coils on a pure convection vape so that the vaping material probably won't match that full temp of the coils during a session, but red hot seems pretty hot
Yet the vapor it made didn't appear excessively dense or grey or ashy and burned in the video, it looked just right? (right?)
As an Ozzie might say..about the glowing coils...
what's that all about?
Works on temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) from dynamically detecting the atomizer coil resistance when in use, but that's a function of the separate TC mod the user must use it with to have this control. Dan is just having it made in a way (with materials, coil resistance range) to allow the modpod to be used in TC / TCR modes.
So you should be able to just "set the right settings" and largely be able to avoid charring / combustion...but how well he designs this thing will matter for that too.
From using my tubo evic so much these days, with it's pretty good TC using the same method as the mod pod uses, I've learned that "user technique" is still a factor to get the best results, since it's still a pure convection vape with big airflow potential, and charring (but not easily burning) your herb is still possible even at lower temperatures using the wrong "technique" and not-best practices
But for the knuckle-heads and fans of mech mods, watts mode and combustion, charring, etc., you should be able to run this thing in watts mode or un-regulated, if electronic smoking with a battery is your thing? (smoking [combustion], not just vaping, with a battery, sadly, many people are a fan of that)
Used in that backwards way, the modpod would be undistinguished and not superior from much of the wood-clad, 510 competition out there
We don't have the proto in hand just yet but this print is the exact same spec.
will have to see how the body handles heat. the mouthpiece should never get uncomfortable or even very warm but the body will likely get very hot. air intake has been directed to cool the body during a draw and help heat transfer through the metal rather than absorb into it.
This prototype has our internal cooling chamber which should go a long way toward both cooling down vapor and directing heat through the herb pod.
Internals have changed around a bit, might be some stuff I have to clear before posting more of the full assembly (9 pieces)
on the coils glowing: the demo video I posted was a very rough proof of concept using basic parts, I don't know how accurate the TCR setting was relative to the actual coil or to the basket screen as I just dialed in a decent hitting tcr that wouldn't go overboard and combust. I find coil positioning relative to the airflow holes and herb chamber is a very important variable in how hard the coils must "work" to vaporize the load. the rough prototype in that video also was not at all air tight and had multiple internal cracks that made heat distribution very inefficient. depending on the build, coil position, and other variables ill be able to get full extraction anywhere from low glow only visible in shade to full red glow. I expect performance to be more consistent in the complete assembly.
you can still run in wattage and vaporize without combusting. I passed the 3d print around with friends (who don't know how to pulse w breathing technique) at 55 watts just to see how things went. We went through 5 full loads before someone combusted right at the end of the night. Not bad for a first time group sesh unregulated IME.
Definitely excited to see how TC will perform when we get this model in hand. Also have some SS mesh that will work great on our build deck. I'm very curious to see how large coils compare to mesh for convection.
