Just finished a batch of coconut oil using lecithin.... haven't tried yet... will try to post details later. Oh yeah, that's not lecithin in my Avatar.

Ya, unbleached, non-GMO, solvent-free is what you want. If someone can't find something "non-GMO," at least in the US, it's legally required to be non-GMO if it has the USDA Organic seal on it.

GMO soy is probably the most dangerous GMO crop currently on the market. It's known to kill cattle, turn rats' testicles blue in three years and lots more.

I use the NowFoods brand, non GMO, lecithin granules (click pic for info) I like NowFoods for price/quality. Here are the lab notes from my last batch of hash caps. This is by no means a complete thought, just thought I would share. Happy 4/20 FC

Hash caps: The following recipe should yield about 60 hash caps.

    Materials:

    12 grams bubble hash
¼ cup coconut oil (4 tablespoons or 12 teaspoons)
    5 teaspoons lecithin (1 table spoon + 2 teaspoons)
    00 Gelatin capsules
    Mortar & pestle
    Glass eyedropper
    Ice
    Pill bottle
    Paper towels

    Procedure:
    1. Decarb 12 grams hash in mortar at 210F for 20 minutes
    2. Add 1 tablespoon lecithin and grind/stir
    3. Add ¼ cup melted coconut oil and grind/stir
    4. Preheat oven to 250F
    5. Place double foil sealed mortar, on cookie sheet, then into oven
    6. Adjust temp down to 220F, set timer for 40 minutes
    7. When time expires shut off oven and wait 10 minutes
    8. Vent some heat and wait 5 minutes, repeat
    9. Remove mortar from oven and let sit for 30 minutes
    10. Unwrap mortar and add one teaspoon lecithin and stir/grind
    11. Re-wrap mortar and place in freezer for at least 8 hours
    12. Remove mortar from freezer and allow to warm to room temp
    13. Place sealed mortar into cold oven then set preheat to 220F
    14. Set timer for 40 minutes
    15. When time expires vent and cool as before
    16. Remove mortar from oven and let sit for 30 minutes
    17. Refreeze if desired or proceed to next step
    18. Stir/grind until you are happy with consistency
    19. Fill caps with eyedropper utilizing paper towels and ice
    Batch log:
    1. 12 grams hash
    2. 4 ½ teaspoons lecithin
    3. ¼ cup coconut oil
    Yield = 72 caps + 1 test cap = 73

    Dose = 12 grams/73caps = 0.164/cap

I'm getting ready to do a run of bubble to infuse into coconut oil(along with a bit of almond, grape seed, sesame, and olive) and lecithin. I am planning on making hard candy, and made a batch in the past with good results(no lecithin), but am always looking for new recipes if anyone has a great hardball recipe they would like to share.

    TIA

made the most amazing batch of abv brownies the other day. 8 gram heavily vaped pax abv on high, with two grams of soy lecithin. High grade virgin coconut oil mixed with the abv and soy ground up fine. Mixed into recipe, used water and egg, just replace oil with special oil of simmering on low for 45 min. My friend who is a culinary c.i.a chef thought it was genius to use this special ingredient in special brownies. Needless to say all of our friends texted us and told us how amazing high they became.. :ko:

Stop eating GMOs everyone! and soy is no good in general really. Another lecithin would probably be a better option. and organic virgin coconut oil is great for everything including making canna oil :)

Maybe. But inhaling non-air into your lungs isn't good either, but we do it anyway. I'll take my chances with my (unbleached, non-GMO) soy lecithin. Besides, it's not like I'm eating it by the mouthful.

Made another pan of brownies with soy lecithin... it's became part of my routine to throw some in when I'm prepping my oil. I don't know exactly how much better it makes my brownies, but it sure doesn't hurt anything. ABV edibles continue to amaze me with their potency.

I put soy lechitin in my abv brownies ALL the time. Shit I put it in all my medibles really if I remember. <-- usually do! Helps them kick in sooo much faster and longer lasting effects. I love it. Unbleached nonGMO of course. Ate a brownie earlier on Christmas, had me medicated slightly 30minutes in and fully after an hour had passed. A Very Merry Christmas to me!!

    Salutations,

I can't tell about GMOs but this is what i was offered recently:

At Walmart's drugstore they've got lecithin mixed with other oily compounds, i believe. Browsing the web is useless around here, i was told i'll have to actually go see for myself at the store...

    3 hours later...

At least now it's clear there's Soy Lecithin in it, with gelatin and glycerin. No GMOs, no bleaching. Each capsule contains a yellow liquid, i sense no smell.

Do you have a GNC in your area or any other health food stores? You will find the powder there, which is what you want.

No luck here. I've asked around for the powder form but that's all i could find, though i was offered to place an order if i felt that was necessary (at some time in 2013, which would be too late for my purpose i'm afraid!)...

Sorry but given the short notice that one will have to do at least until 2013 - and way beyond, actually...

Have you seen the size of those pills?!? :o

I don't really care about GMO's (sorry) and from what I can see from your photo, the only other ingredients are gelatin and glycerin. Only trouble I could see with these, is they may thicken up your mixture, but it should be ok. If that is all you can get, I would test a small amount first and see.

    Hi,

Hello Nycdeisel, i may not have "organic" grade soy lecithin just yet but i came back home with organic coconut oil today! The label says "Extra Virgin" and its manufacturer appears to be Vitaminol (in behalf of LeNaturiste). Hoping that's no Mosanto subsidiary...

Gelatin, right Tweek: in fact this morning i also came back from my shopping excursion with Capella capsules which are made of that exact substance. Too bad i couldn't find a matching filling apparatus though.

Maybe i won't be doing anything with my ABV before in 2013 but i also happen to have nearly 1 g of QWET extract (from my bags and mouthpieces)...

I was told not to put the coconut oil in my fridge, i can imagine lecithin from my capsules would behave about the same.

Last night i tested 1 capsule of lecithin and noticed no perceptible change so i'm definitely going to test that, probably in chocolate milk (i experience no lactose allergy neither, luck me!)...

There might be a lurker around when that happens... :science:

Well, the label clearly states « Refrigerate after opening. » so i'm a bit confused but the seal ain't broke yet so all is good. For now...

Nice finding and it's got even better for me just a minute ago:

    Guess what...

This one has got the USDA "Organic" logo so now i've learned a motivating lesson: knowing the commerce i found does carry some of those then i can safely infer there could be more, so i'll definitely return (perhaps next spring when i'll be able to figure out where they've put the damn sidewalk)!...

The VCO I have does not say it needs to be refrigerated. But I will do so after its cooked and strained. :)

    Salutations Nycdeisel,

If "VCO" means something about coconut oil then i've put mine in the refrigerator right away as it melts when heated. Additionally, i don't think i'll bother much with cooking anymore as i just need to swallow one 1.2 g capsule of soil lecithin to "potentiate" an eminent vape session. The delay between ingestion of that pill and actual enhancement of the vaping experience might occur some 30 minutes later (maybe better 45 minutes for senior adults - tell me what you think!): the lecithin capsule's shell 1st must break once it is in one's stomach, then the lecithin molecules must be absorbed into the individual's blood stream so it becomes available for binding with THC, cannabinoïds i guess (and maybe even terpenes?) while vaporizing cannabis, euh... If i've followed this whole topic decently...

In any case let me tell you Nycdeisel, at the moment at least i could swear it does potentiate!

    So...

This is what i found locally:

Did you find this in a health food store or just at a local grocery store??

Edit: I use lecithin granules in my canna-cooking, but have never taken lecithin pills for same effect, but am very interested as I am currently trying to reduce my consumption...

Hey ego glad you were able to find something that works for you. I have been periodically experimenting with soy lech capsule in conjunction with with daily omegas for what i think of as my "quick and dirty abv edibles" ie eating straight or my lazy firecracker mixing into peanut butter and eating with crackers. I have a fairly high tolerance to medibles and ime a soy lech capsule eaten about 45 min before hand helps for me noticeably. Taking a fish oil around the sametime and eating some nuts and taking my medible with some milk (vit d whole milk of course) all help bio-availability and potentiating effects. YMMV

I am by no means an expert but i believe in some cases its beneficial to use the soy lech in the cooking process (like t dubs hash caps) because the lechitin acts as a homogenizing agent to make doses more uniform and accurate throughout a batch. Its commonly used in the pharmaceutical industry for this same purpose.

Excuse the typos editing is a pain on my droid

    Salutations Puffers,

As a matter of fact the capsules was how it started for me:

But that's highly deplete HerbalAire ABV and i'll need to lower my tolerance level a bit before i can evaluate those properly...

I had no specific recipe handy when i cooked this, it's essentially equal parts of ABV, soy lecithin and coconut oil heated for 1 hour in a double-boiler. A teaspoon of canola oil had to be added early as the mixture felt like solidifying mud and that would have made it too difficult to fill my capsules - not to mention i didn't use a seringe for this!...

Eventually i might want to try reclaim extracts as those are much more potent in comparison.
