Seems like a very sensible addition as getting particles of AVB flying into your mouth is the only real downside I experience with the SSV - and I don't have all the fancy glass pieces some use to counteract this.

These screens for the mouthpiece, the Arizer dome-screens for the whip, glass bubblers, custom glass wands/knobs/heatercovers... etc etc ad infinitum - there's almost too much useful/beautiful stuff to buy for vaporisers.
Though my bank balance sure ain't happy my heart sure doesn't give a crap!

@FLskwat - THANKYOU so much for sharing that mod!!!!!! I have now purchased and am awaiting those gauzes. I hope this keeps more of the shit out of my mouth. I adore my SSV but the amount of buildup/Wand Hash has bothered me for a while now (it's a blessing in that you can vape it upon collection but a curse if it's accumulating in the back of your throat!). I tried using a cloth wraparound solution but that was no good. Your simple solution makes total sense. I know it's simple but I didn't think of it and now that you mention it... eureka... a tried and tested solution that should allow for extra harvesting of vape material as well! I will report back how it works out for me. I have an actual SSV water cooler moisturiser addon but i have found I plain prefer the hits I get without it. All I have really wanted is a way to filter out as much of the THC bits flying around as possible. I'm half thinking I should try and block up the other end of the plastic tubing with more gauze. Any thoughts how you'd apply it or is this one filter enough? What a great share. This will improve my experience yet more and for that I am v v grateful! :peace:

VAPOLITICS!
You're welcome bro'!
I'm actually testing the benefits of my AquaVape Inline vape Cooler as a filtration. I love it, my wife even more, but I can totally understand you prefering no water filtered hits. In fact I constantly need to switch vaping methods and I know I'll come back to my MOD any day soon...then switch again :D ...

So if you wanna go further harvesting + filtering: check post #1442 on previous page...
You put the arizer dome screen + leave the original SSV wand screen + the gauze at the beginning of your mouthpiece...Now you've got a MUCH BETTER mesch screen for your bowl, a 1st big holes filter for big particles, and the gauze at the end for thinner ones...U can hit your SSV with no worries...HARD PULL!

I got my SSV on craigslist a while back and everything about it works great, and I especially love it when I want to take fat rips. I only have 1 problem, the tube tastes disgusting! I was informed that the user did not like this device and had only used it a handful of times and I can see why. They must have been combusting every single time because not only the taste of the hose is horrid, but the smell of it is just about as bad. I have other whip vapes, so I know something is up. I wish I had not waited months to get a new whip, but I finally just cant deal with it anymore. It makes me almost never use the SSV because of the taste and smell. I end up using my PD almost all the time over the SSV just due to the taste. I only been busting the SSV out for those massive hits.

So I just wanted to ask one question on replacing this tube, should I order the silicone that many people say is better or should I stick with the vinyl? I was going to order 10 feet of silicone from US Plastics, is that legit and enough for me?

Newest member of the Silver Surfer club due to you guys and pretty much everybody saying that the silver surfer is the best vape in the world for whip type vapes.

Sold my guitar today and I finally got enough to buy the silver surfer!
I wanted to make sure that the vape was very special so I custom made it on the official site.
The color is rainbow zen and the base is purple.

I got a special engraving on the front with the chemical compund for THC.

I emailed them promptly afterwards and asked if they could make a space style purple and black knob to accompany the vaporizer and hopefully they'll help me out on my requests :)

I AM FUCKING STOKED!

Final purchase price: $347 shipped

Not as fucking stoked as you are going to be over and over again when you use this bad boy ;)

Did you get the SGG connection? I think thats pretty much what they are pushing nowdays for their wand/HC setups on the new SSVs.

I got the standard edition because from what I've heard people are telling me that too much air escapes from the spherical ground glass connection.

I really wanted to get the full original silver surfer experience from the get go. :)

Tokin was pretty much the person who sold me on the Silver Surfer though. His review of it is so good!

Thats interesting... I have the original HC/Wand setup on mine as well and honestly see no real reason to make the 'switch'. More curiousity of the SGG setup than anything (and I DONT want handsfree with my SSV) Hence why my adapter sits... ;)

Right Now:

:D

feeling really excited n anxious...

ordered new custom wave rider a short while ago. figured it was worth it to go for the whole package and custom image.

I can't wait to post some images when it comes in.

I hope my spherical ground glass provides the same awesome hits as the regular style connection I have already tried.

Hopefully, I will be giving a first-hand review by the end of the week...

@ Shipwreck:

...you sold your guitar?
...oh, my heart broke a little...

:p

at least this might help save the vocals, huh?

I personally like the Standard version rather than the GG version because I feel like I have more control over the vaporization process. Also, the GG whips tend to fall out unexpectedly and break. Not so fun.

Have you seen this happen? I know there's been speculation about it happening, since gravity is a factor, but it SHOULD take time, and quite a bit of wear, before slipping occurs.

How long do these custom orders take?
I ordered it Wednesday night and it's still processing.

Hopefully not the full six business days.

the only time mine falls out is if someone is to tug on it. it doesnt just slide out on its own. infact the wand can be held in pretty tightly at times requiring extra effort to remove it. just give the wand a slight twist when you mate it into the gg connection and wont have a problem.

I agree with max, I have never seen the wand break from falling out, and I have seen the wand fall out more than a few times. As long as it's just falling and hitting the surface the unit is sitting on then it seems to be able to withstand more than you would think. If it falls 2 feet to the floor that's another story...

I ordered a wave rider on the 10th of Feb & I don't think it's done yet. It's now the 21st. I called and spoke with 7th Floor today. I was told that these custom orders may take up to 3 weeks....so I'm not holding my breath..

ugh

for your sake, I hope that the engraved ones are a quicker turnover

the last 11 days have been such a drag...I feel like Cartman waiting for the Wii...

It's Monday though...

will anyone here say a little prayer for my waverider to be done by the end of the week?

What? It specifically says "up to 6 business days"
I really hope it doesn't take up to 3 weeks.

EDIT:
It actually DOES say that on the site for Wave Riders.
"Current turn-around time is approx. 3 weeks on WRS's. "

Also, Richard thank you for responding to my emails, I was wondering if you had any idea if you could tell me how far along my vaporizer is if I gave you some info?
Thanks

I was thinking about a wand that can attach to multiple hoses/mouthpieces that more than one person can use at a time. A "party wand" or something like that. What do you think?

Hey Richard,

I think this is a great idea! In fact, when I first got my SSV, my friends and I were talking about just that.

Hey so this is my first post. I bought an SSV in december and have been using it religiously since. A lot of my buddies have realized how great vaping in the SSV is, and four of them also bought surfers. Its great seeing all the surfers lined up! We have found that they really dont work for more than 2-3 people at a time, so we usually have all the surfers going at once when alot of people are over. We all like hitting it through our glass collection, or just dry through the mouth piece.

Ive found having a custom whip and mouth piece really add to the experience. Also I have the aroma top on all the time.

We are sort of split of whether we like the spherical or the standard connection better. I use the standard, but 2 of my buddies insist on the spherical. Honestly they seem to be pretty even, although I like to tell myself that the standard is more efficient :brow: . One of my friends (now an SSV owner) had a DBV, and that was OK, but it is why none of us use the ground glass connection. The control you get from the standard and SGG really outperform the DBV.

You guys helped me make the decision to get an SSV and I finally decided I should post here. Overall it has its limitations, but I really enjoy using the surfer.

My Technique with the standard connection is to hold it in the same position at an angle and just spin it while keeping it in the same place.

If you want I can post some picture of my set up.
:peace:

You should call them. It shouldn't take that long to get a custom order. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. ;)
