Yo two guys and an ssv that have no vape:D. I personally never had to think about using the ssv it came natural to me. Don't fret other vapes that others have no issue with are nightmares to me till I learn them like the solo which all swear have no learning curve. I swear the ssv has none so there you go.

I think what some of us do natural some have to learn. What was said in the last few posts made me realize you aren't heating the herb properly. Watch a few videos and you will be pleasantly surprised. I didn't watch any or I would recommend one.

Yeah, what he said. If you get thick vapor your first hit, your temperature is too high probably. I find the ssv works best with long steady draws.

Here I am getting two really cloudy hits but my weed would turn dark quick. I was thinking I had to see the vapor. I was hitting it too slow! Anybody else new to the SSV I would definately recommend tokinglx on youtube.

Here is what I am doing now:

Fill bowl 1/4 to 1/2 full
Adjusted my knob so my unit turns on at 6. I turn it to 12
Hit it hard enough to hear that wind like sound
    Pull and clear it
    STIR

You have to balance the heat you put it on with your draw speed. I like to draw slower and take small draws so my heat is set lower. I don't enjoy the fast draws unless they are like 3 seconds max. I get way to much vape for my liking. I also like good taste which will remain longer with lower heat.

BTW for you info paidndade most of us have off at 7 not 6 so when we speak of where we have our heat set keep that in mind.

      • It took me a while but now ive got this thing down to a science.I have found my best results so far have been using the standard mini wand with a cheap $20 corner store water bong.I just stuff one end into the bong and draw like normal.Hitting through the pipe just gave the hit so much power i had to turn the heat way down from normal or it would burn really easy.So now i turn my heat just so i can start to see red on the element.Using the mini wand i put just enough in to fully cover the screen.Im talking .01-.02 grams and have been getting 3-4 good rips the same as i used to get using .10 - .15 grams before the water pipe and with standard size wand. Now im so impressed with this thing it feels like i'm cheating.I'm finally doing what i hoped for, using much less herb and getting a hell of alot higher doing it! Good luck the cool thing about these units is there is a 1000 ways to use it.

I find different quality of herb makes a big difference in how well it vapes. I have to adjust heat/draw power depending on the quality. Dank is soo tasty and much more efficient and I can keep the heat lower and it doesn't get nearly as dark as mids.

Anyone know of or have a picture of the inside electronics of the SSV? I've been curious how it looks in there but cant find an image anywhere on the internet. Surely someone has taken the bottom plate off? Maybe to switch for a different color or something?

I never did, aside from differences in moisture level and herb consistency. There HAVE been quite a few reports of herb that doesn't vape well, but it doesn't seem to be related to quality or what model the vape is, since a lot of it was reported as top rate when smoked.

Nope. Never seen one opened up. It's just a power supply and a temp control though- very much time tested. It's a very reliable design for the most part.

I find a direct correlation to the quality (THC content) and how well the herb vapes.
The higher quality surel produces vapor longer because there are more oils to be "volitized"
I find the opposite however about color.
I find that average meds, stay golden, and stop producing flavor and vapor...
but I find that the high quality meds will vape many more hits... therefore become deeper darker color.
*I did understand you said that you can keep the heat lower... and that this is why the "load" is still light.... but the herb, yet undone when light has many more hits left.

When smoked even herb that resists vaping could still have a fairly high CBD ratio... that is only released at close to combustion temps.
This combined with the carbon monoxide rush could account for folks categorizing meds that don't vape as "good when smoked".

I too get more hits from the higher quality stuff but oddly if I turn the heat up it tends to darken very fast so I keep it at around 12 o'clock. It hits very nice but doesn't get dark. When it stops producing I can turn it up and get more but it doesn't taste good and really doesn't seem to benefit my high.

As popular as this vaporizer is I'm surprised I haven't been able to see the guts on one. Must not be opened very often.

My SSV took a nasty fall last night... my wifes foot got caught by the cord as she was walking by and it got 'yarded' off the table and was pulled down to the ground pretty friggin hard. its all good though... no broken glass, the knob is unfazed and most importantly, its workin like a champ where it counts.

    i heart my ssv

So sorry to hear that your unit took a fall. Glad that it's working though. I think my SSV is going to out live me.

Wire hazards are messed up. I have all my wires under my bed but yet people still pull my puter down off my bed as well as trip on them.

    Glad SSV lived.

Just bought a nice $70 bubbler for my vape. I do find it extracts a lot nicer.

Not sure if this will be helpful to anyone (or if it has already been tried) but lately, when I don't want to pack alot into my SSV, I have been using the Arizer hat screen. I drop it into the mouth of my spherical glass wand and at about a medium heat setting, I am able to enjoy smooth, tasty vapor with no stirring.

Looks similar to the one I make with underdog silicone. I love how most vape stuff fits together:tup: .

I've done that with my GonG HC, but after a few uses, the EQ screen dislodged itself from the wand and stayed in the HC, so I abandoned the idea.
Its cool that it works so well in the spherical GG

This mod is what was holding me back from buying a Vapor Brothers Mini whip. That and the minis cost more than a normal standard wand, and from what I've read, are thinner and easy to break. Not a good combo for me, lol.

So sitting there last night after reading your post I was inspired to try and remove the metal ring. And I must say, I'm super excited with the results. Without the ring, I am freely able to move the screen up and down the wand, effectively adjusting my bowl size to whatever I want. This little mod has produced some of the biggest and tasty vapor hits I've ever experienced. I'll take some photos when I get a chance. I might switch to this screen on all my whips, of course after exhaustive testing, :science:, for science.

I was going to try a log vape too, so I can use smaller load sizes. This might have saved me, though I still wanna try a log out.

The Mini wand is only 14.99. Same as the SSV wand
It is only 18.99 with tubing and mouthpiece, and WELL worth it.
I have used the same one for two and a half years without breakage.
    It is an excellent item!
I use both... regular wand and mini. A good team~

I bet they do. Does the mini wand have a shorter bowl and smaller bore?

I'm really wanting a custom worked piece from the SSV team, ah decisions decisions.

Looking at my mini wand the other day it looks like they use the same size screen. It just looks like a smaller bore size and lighter glass. A must have IMO like a doctor having many sizes of tools.I wouldnt even bother ordering the extra tube or screens since the mini slides perfect into the SSV tubing.Though i must say the tube i got the mini has been useful.Cutting the tube in 1" sections make a great adapter as they fit snuggly into the SSV tube.

It is the same screen. The "mariah" (saturn ring that the screen sits in) is the size of the SSV bore, but the mini is smaller in bore.

The bowl is only slightly shorter in length than the SSV wand (standard).. but they are all consistant.. same length bowl, where the SSV wands can vary... so that the mini wand is actually longer than a few random SSV wands I have gotten in.
The deal is due to that small bore, you can drop as little as you like in there, and it vapes easily... even a few crumbs.
