Recieved my P.A.M. Thanks Ryan, looking forward to getting to use this.

Got a joytech cubiod with a dodgy 510 connector. Plan to remove the connector and solder the P.A.M. straight in.

One question. The P.A.M has two wires. However the 510 connector only had one wire goimg to the center pin. Where do i solder the 2nd wire?

Okay - so if your following the L shaped mod box thread you know the evic idea went south. Not easy to solder in the P.A.M. wires. The hole was too small and i ended up completley writing off the mod. Luckily it already had a broken 510. I am an amateur at this with just some basic DIY tools. Let the carnage comense!

Next idea. An adapter with a P.A.M. on one side and a 510 connector on the other. Slightly L shaped with the P.A.M. higher. Allowing SBS P.A.M. action. Gonna call her "a bit of P.A.M. on the side". This should be easy enough even for me. A 510 connector and wires to the P.A.M. The wood will litterally be two holes. One for the connector and one for the P.A.M. The opposite side will have a channel for the wires. Thinking of filling the holes with epoxy casting liquid. The mod will be upside down.

Plan to build two. One for the P.A.M. One with a 510 female connector. Will be built to fit my smoant cyclon mod.

By the way i think this mod is great. Reasonable price, sturdy looking 510 connector. Dont think ill buy an evic again. @KeroZen was right about the connectors, rubbish even on the new models. IMO cruise mode is not really required, i dont miss it.

This is a blank of african blackwood. The connector is an Ijoy IMC-1 in RDA base. The connector was not cheap but is quality. I got two, they have really nice clamps for the wires

I have also brought some forstner bits for the drill and some g clamps to hold every thing down while drilling. Going on holiday next friday, hopefully my next post will be once the drilling is done.

Wish me luck!

Blackwood was to hard to work with. My forstner bit skipped across the surface and that was the end of that!. This is cherry, much softer and easier to work with. Its a bit rough in places, but i only have a DIY drill and hand saws. Once everything is wired up i will fill in the trench for the wire with wood filler or epoxy.

Overall its still quite bulky even when side mounted. Might feel better once complete. Wish me luck!

That is awesome! Thanks for continuing with the L shape box mod projects. The form factor is the only downside of the splinter/splinter Z, this will rectify that matter. Your motivating me to get my design moving. I was thinking of carving a body out of basswood since it's so soft and I have no high-end wood tools.

Just got play with the PAM ! Thanks @oddjobold for this opportunity..
I havent read trought the thread but i have a few questions,so please excuse me if it covered in the pages before i will get back on it later.
1. Is the Glass joint Glued to the Module ?
2. Is there any way of disassembling it without damaging it ?
3. Is there MICA in the PAM ?

Yes, No, Yes.

Or well maybe you could soften the glue with a heat gun but you'll risk over drying the wood maybe?
Thx for the reply .Well i guess i will try it as it is, with just add 510 connection and better cable like,in the vein of TUBOx.For now i did a short test.. and i got an terrible smell out it.. only after few seconds at 35 watts.I dont know if it is the mica or something else but if it doesnt get any better after a certain number of burnoffs, i might end up gutting out the heater and try to do something more logvape-like .. I have plenty of wood and some glass joints around too.

Hm but the whole point of the PAM is to get rid of the 510 connector, which is the source of a lot of problems when it comes to TC.

The smell on the other hand is very strange. Are you sure nothing bad happened to the module before you got it?

@KeroZen Well i have zero information about what happened to it before i got it.. but smell still persists, i guess i will have to include the vacuum cleaner to the game, because i dont feel safe breathing trough it as it is.. Maybe some woodust,or gluebits fell down on the coil...,IDK..Do you know if the top screen (the one over the coil can be removed safely and then put back into place ? ?

Right, a few burn-offs at 70W for about 10 seconds each IIRC. But since our friend mentioned a "terrible smell" I thought it was something else...

I've been working on a RBT Splinter powered, The Ember inspired vaporizer. I call "The Vapor Lighter" Instant vapor the second it's connected with the custom bowl, that slides into any 18mm joint... Thanks Ryan

New Vapor Lighter body I made yesterday, Padauk/Wenge/Maple, Today I stuffed a Splinter Z
heater into that little body, and it's even more powerful.....

No the splinter heater is plenty of heat, and easy to set up in TCR

Of course the high surface area that heater is a real beast, not really anything out there that is quite as effective in the same way, is there? Some come close, but there is just something special here... So now it really is SplinterTorch!

Anyway I was just curious since I never really tried any glass bead vapes myself but have always been interested and wanted to try them!

I wanted the glass balls to be the new great thing, but i'm not impressed.. Heating, it's hard to find consistancy, cooling, the balls get coated in reclaim in 1-2 bowls, and I don't see a huge significance in cooling, than over say a RBT XL8R mouthpiece...
