protect yourself with stripping the meta data off your pictures before you post them!

So when I take a picture with my smart phone it records the gps data among other things as well. so let's say we take a pic of our stash and we live in a state where it's not legal... you could be ratting yourself out!

Strip the meta data before you upload your images!

this tool is freeware and will allow you to do so. just open the picture you want to edit

1. locate the folder that contains the picture in question.
2. double click the picture and it will open an edit data window.
3. go though the tabs and clear out the data. (in this instance most specifically the location tab and clear the gps data)
4. save it an your done!

I just found out about this today, so if you have more info on how to further protect myself I am all ears!

cheers!

Oftentimes, you can change a setting on your camera or phone to avoid recording metadata altogether. I always shut this off with any kind of photo, even family pics. Some folks like having it on to track where they have been, etc.

My best advice is, if you are concerned about the legalities of what you are doing in your life, don't post about it online. That's the ultimate protection ;)
