PBW & the Chemistry of Clean

t-dub

Vapor Sloth
I use repeated, quick, hot flushes using as little chemical as possible. I don't really measure with my lab scoop but I don't think I use more than 1/2 teaspoon on my largest pieces. There are directions for dilution on the container . . . ;)

Closer to the 10-month rather than 10 years, but hey, if you really use it right, like t-dub does, it could last a couple of years. My tub that size (I also use it in the dishwasher) is over 6 months old, and maybe I have 10% of it left.
Just the info I needed,

ta man!

It came today.
All my glass is pretty clean.
I used 2 table spoons of Baking Soda to 3/4 cup White Vinegar.
Then I rise with a grapefuit.
RO water at the finish.

Tomorrow I want to try the PW.
Tonight I will try and make my pieces dirty!

I'm finding all sorts of uses with pbw besides cleaning glass. cleaned my entire bathroom using only pbw today. Completely replaced every cleaner/Cleaning agent used in the past. Everything was sparkling once more and all I had to do was sprinkle soak and wipe.
What an amazing community this is, I have learned many many things since joining, pbw being one of them.
Thanks for that t-dub :)

Just got my big tub 1.8kg :)

So that I don't have to go through the entire thread, am I right in thinking: one small tea spoon into the bubbler than add boiling water and wait an hour or so, than rince? Should I shake it, shake it all about ?

Thanks

I shake right after I add the hot water...let stand for whatever time I feel is needed and then shake at the end before dumping the water. Then, rinse out with hot water multiple times, shaking during each rinse. Seems to do the trick for me...YMMV.

This product work's really well.

I find that if I use the same water temp for cleaning as I do for rinsing I get a very good result without streaking.

I still take a citrus of some kind and squeeze it into the glass piece then rinse with Distilled or RO water for the final rinse.

I clean my GonG and Stems as well.

Very nice product!

PBW is indeed a very good product! I use maybe 1/4 teaspoon of PBW in the ion matrix, in combination with almost boiling water, just let it soak for 5mins.

You could also shake your glass be careful though, wear some latex gloves, you don't want to burn your hands or break your glass!

If still not properly clean you can repeat this step or let it soak for longer. The key is to use very little PBW, you don't want white walls on your glass.

Rinse again with very hot water, pour in some vinegar (warm it up or mix with hot water), shake well, rinse again with hot water..

Last step rinse with hot distilled water and a few drops of cranberry extract and done ready to use. This works excellent for me and my glass looks very nice!

do you mean a like a citrus acid or are you actually squeezing a lemon or lime or orange in your glass?

I have a very funny image of a bong with a juicer built in.....
