So umm, terminology clarification question:

Is taurus a more widely recognized glass term for the shape of the rig?
Or for the function of an incycler?

Because if not, IMO with the changed perc, it's no longer a taurus knockoff, it's simply an incycler...

I mean, It was never gonna have the exact same snowflake perc, but all along the way it looked like the exact same perc design just with dumb tiny holes instead of some slits (I don't know why steven kept producing prototypes with those tiny holes?) in the perc.

Now all of a sudden, it's changed to an entirely different type of perc (which now looks kinda like a showercap, but with 4 holes instead of slits - I'd actually be interested in it again if it had a bunch a slits instead of those 4 holes)...

So I mean,
If it doesn't have the perc design of a taurus, (no longer a showerhead, its a form of showercap)
and it doesn't have the body style of a taurus (no little hourglass style dips at the middle of the can)
It's not a taurus?

On a similar note, it's like the pillar rigs - the matrix pillar has absolutely nothing to do with peyote.
The "peyote" part of the "peyote pillar" name comes from the perc.
Without that perc, it's not a peyote, any more than my mini pillar is a stemline...
or my D020 is a matrix
or my honeycomb A/C is a frit
yadda yadda yadda...

I know it's kinda nitpicky, but all the time I see people who aren't too into glass coming in and asking questions, and being all mushy with the terminology is only gonna confuse things for people...

@Frederick McGuire you raise an excellent point. I guess this is more of my personal opinion than an actual answer but I always felt as though the name "Torus" is just the special title that mothership gave their incycler. I don't think it really comes from the slight hourglass shape or penetrated perc etc. Just a name they choose and most people who make similar designs don't use the name Torus because it is more of a brand thing. Unlike the "klein" technique which has been used in chemistry glass for ages.

I'm looking for a piece that I can easily see when I whitewall. I have a D020 currently, and while I like it I feel like there are probably better pieces out there now that have good, potent draws. Can anyone recommend one from this thread? I am trying to work my way backwards through it, but if anyone thinks they can help me trim my search I would appreciate it!

My FC UFO has some red marks on the perc. Do I need PBW to get rid of these? I'm doing am undiluted Simple Green soak right now.

Very impressed with the quality of the 5 FC pieces. Only a few flaws. The most major flaw is a small chip in on of the UFO perc slots. Doesn't affect functionality, but I will !essays Steven before releasing payment.

looks like steven finally got the torus right. that means he should have the klein done as well haha

i think it needs a 14mm joint in my opinion though

Looky here...posted to Stevens you tube page a little while ago. I have to turn my phone upside down lol. Looks like it's available to order as well for $68.18. Even though I know I'll have to use an adapter to squeeze my EVO in there I still think I want it. The MP looks SO much better coming out of the side than the top IMO. That action looks violent at the top. I like it!! And here I've done so good with glass and not ordering since the FC710 came out. The non purchase streak may end...

Hey FC community,

Let me quickly explain myself. I recently was on DH-Gate lurking for a new piece... And I came across Stevens work out of a "related items" category.

I was so glad I found a mothership knockoff.... I was actually... Amazed.

I previously purchased from Cleanclearglass and their piece was nice but still looked awfully Chinese.

So,
I found this amazing Tarus! Wowza!
Now please understand, I found this before this forum. I found it without realizing the amount of TIME put into the making of this knock off! Lol

A HUGE thank you to @blankrider i cannot emphasize this enough. I have only bought glass twice and this looks to be the most legitimate piece yet.

I have purchased it on the 24th, so I am expecting it either Friday or Monday. I also have no problem letting you ALL know what it is like.

It is an interesting point that @Frederick McGuire makes:

Steven first had this concept DOWN PAT... And then he changes it? This seems to be repetitive @blankrider but nonetheless successful. I would have liked to see him at least put slits in it, but wow is me... I guess a few holes will do :D

The function video looks very good, and it has come along way.

@blankrider did Steven include the carb cap for the honey bucket? I really do not want to have to buy it separately since I bought the honey bucket. Again, thank you for all the hard work, after reading this.... I am so impressed by everyone's input on this specific topic.

Welcome to FC. I don't know where you live but I wouldn't get your hopes up for the delivery date you expect, but if you actually get it by then, make sure you report about that here, that's awfully quick for DHgate.

@Mister G Yes it is, but I am basing this prediction by comparing his past recent sales and comparing them to the reviews. I have guesstimated 10days, which would put me at about 5/4 (Monday).

Lol, anything can happen at the Border. I averaged 10 days turnaround on my orders from shunshinestore. And I got cocky with my 4th order - bought something 2 weeks before a friend's birthday party. It disappeared in shipping for 7 weeks before tracking updated in New York and started moving.

Good luck, but it's a crapshoot when it comes to DHgate orders, could take 10 days, could take 2 months and mysteriously show up at your door. But that's a gamble most of us are willing to pay if we get direct access to the Chinese manufacturers and pay near wholesale prices.

I am really loving that Torus. Has anyone else purchased it? $70 is kind of steep, but if anyone has good feedback from it I think it is definitely well worth it.

Is the perc exactly like the Mothership version or is it different?

I agree, 70$ is pretty cheap for getting glass to your doorstep... I went ahead and got the honey bucket too.

I'd really like to see the Swiss Klein someone is talking about on here. That seems to be pretty hot over in the west RN.

I enjoy the look of Motherships glass. It's thick and holds its weight. That's what got me to buy the torus in the first place.

@Ratchett this is true. I'm not really sure what might happen. Like I said, it's just. A hopeful guess that I have based of recent orders the seller has dispearsed

Its not a lot for the product you are getting, but its a bit steep compared to some other pieces. Although, like you mentioned, the mothership glass is very thick and this seems to be just as thick. That is something im definitely happy about.

Does anyone know if the percs match?

Check the Cheap Bubbler thread in a few days, WOL Torus first impressions should be showing up soon.

not yet i don't think, mines stuck in customs right now and as far as i've seen everyone's is in customs lol
Mine cleared today but it's on the other side of the country so it's still 2-3 days out.

Edit: In other glass news, it looks like I may be getting my FC-Cake and Dabuccino from Steven today.

China isn't gonna be doing mothership percs for a while...

Google some images of mothership rigs and take a close look at them.

The perc on a lot of their rigs is this really intricate snowflake design that I assume is laser cut.

Ain't nothin like that coming from China that ive seen, not that I think it would add all that much to the functionality over a matrix or showerhead, but ive never hit the real thing...

These also have nothing on mothership thickness IMO.
Mothership have WTF level thickness on their bases (I think like 10mm+)...
These are thick enough by China standards, but I'd never put it anywhere near an actual MS...

The perc on a mothership Taurus is pretty significantly different to any of the incyclers I can recall on dhgate.

The actual perc is effectively a showerhead, but with the snowflakes instead of slits.
The perc on Stevens one looks like it's effectively a showercap, but with a couple of holes instead of many slits...

I really liked the cake and plan on getting it for my brothers birthday... Guess I should order soon since its in the next few weeks... I'd really like to see how it is.

I ordered through DHgate the other day, and it seems that DHgate has distributed my debit card information and my bank has caught multiple high transactions. So right now I'm a little gritty about DHgate...

@Monsoon will you be getting the Torus too?

I use Skrill.com which is accepted by Dhgate. I pay an extra 2% or something for adding money to my account via a bank card. But I'm willing to spend an extra $1.50 if it gives me peace of mind that DHgate won't get my credit card number

This is very true, I have held a mothership and its a paperweight in itself....but absolutely nothing wrong with that.

These (Stevens) are the thickest I have seen from China.... So let's not get too hasty and complain about the level of quality :D were talking about glas that is 5% what motherships usually cost (1500$).

As for that cylindrical perc under the funnel inside the incycler, Steven had the concept at first, and then he went with a new one and I am really not sure why he did... I don't know if it was too difficult to put holes/ slits in the floating cylinder under the funnel... He had the concept and then I guess he decided to change it. I actually don't mind how he has the design right now, it looks really nice and I cannot wait to get it in the mail.

I hope customs doesn't hold onto it for too long...

To be clear I didn't mean to complain about the quality of anything, I've been pretty damn happy with everything I've gotten from Steven so far, it's gotta be close to 10 rigs... (just checked, it's exactly 10 )
I was mainly responding to this:

I read in one of these threads that he was given specific specs from a customer that was ordering a few hundred.
