One hitter vaporization

I read online that you can use a one hitter to vaporize, but I haven't found any testimonies to its effectiveness. The idea is that you hold the intake of the one hitter an inch or so above the flame to vaporize without combustion. This would thereby be a cheap way to provide true convection vaporization...

Has anyone tried this and what did you think?

It doesn't really matter whether it's a one hitter or not. IMO you get more from vapor when you smoke than you do from the smoke, no matter what smoking method you use. When the herb burns, it heats the surrounding plant material to vaping temp prior to combustion. When you're drawing the hit, you get a considerable amount of vapor. I don't think it's possible to smoke without getting vapor, unless you use a method that would burn all the herb before you sucked any in. Can't think of any practical way to do that, that a smoker would actually use. :hmm: How much you get depends, I think, on how you smoke. If you lay on the lighter with a bong as you draw, trying to clear the bowl contents with one hit, you'll be wasting herb. If you just light it, and let the bowl burn from your draw, you'll allow a lot more herb to be vaporized instead of incinerated. But whether you use a wasteful or efficient smoking method, it's clear that smokers are also vaporists, whether they know it or not.

max,
It would take much personal practice to get the flame and herbal pack at the correct distance without ever having the buds burn. However, it would be cool to hear someone's expereinces with using a stainless steal 1 hitter and getting some decent results.
