lI have no idea what kind of battery comes with that kit but if the battery is a lower quality generic E-cig battery it may have a safety feature that prevents it from firing sub-ohm coils like are included with the Alpha Omega 8 kit.

If you can find any specs on the battery that came with it please let me know and I'll do my best to dig further.

@SamuraiSam

Thanks for the reply... did a little digging around and here's what I found.

Here's the kit I initially purchased - http://www.yocantech.com/Yocan-EXgo-W1/

A somewhat difficult to read press release regarding some confusion with Yocan vapes - http://www.yocantech.com/company-news/19.html

A 3rd party's product page for EXgo V1 - http://vapepensales.com/products/yocan-exgo-v1-variable-voltage-battery

So it seems, like it can do sub-ohm, and I've tried all the settings...

Hope this helps, and thanks for looking!

thanks for directing me to this thread @SamuraiSam.

do you happen to know the temperature at which we can observe a Ti coil glowing red? i was previously under the impression that indicated i was nearing the dangerous 1,100*F temperature.

i read through the thread, so i apologize if i missed it, or if this is common knowledge, but why grade 2 titanium over grade 1? the ti wire i have is labeled 99.5% pure Ti---what's the last 0.5%?

@SamuraiSam did you see this post? i'd love to know more!

watching that video it seemed like a glow is only noticeable after 500+.

i'd love to see a 0.3--0.1 ohm Ti coil firing with that temperature probe on it. what do you call that temp device?

Well I got my shipment from OV today. Popped a new Unimizer on my mod. Went to put on the Nibbler U, felt some resistance and pushed harder and POP glass broke. Super bummed. I now have a broken Nibbler U. :(

Please for everyone else be careful. Apparently the Unimizer is not being manufactured to uniform size. Some are too big and will not fit the Nibbler U. If you feel resistance don't force it or the glass will break like mine did.

Edit: Ugh forgot these things cost 100$. Sigh take my money OV. :(

Now I had another excellent customer service experience with @SamuraiSam. I had wanted to provide some feedback after having been using the attys for a little while. While most of my feedback was good (I very much enjoy these atomizers), @SamuraiSam even asked me to post my negative reactions in this thread! Wow, what a difference from a lot of other manufacturers who would rather you hide bad experiences. To me, this is a sign of really standing behind your product.

My two pieces of feedback I had:
1) I should have bought a 5 pack of the dual coil and only one of the 1701. I like the 1701s but I like the dual coil better. I get great taste from both, but I find the dual coils medicate more quickly. I like the 1701s for times I either have more time or need to keep the clouds to a minimum.

2) I like the mouthpiece for the orb I had received from my brother that wasn't w9 better than the one I got from oilvaporizers.com for one reason, the splatter guard on the mouth piece. The ov.com mouthpiece is wide open and I can get some splatter up there if I'm not careful. The other company's orb has protection in the mouthpiece that I like.

Also, two quick questions, can the quartz dual coil attys be cleaned by just soaking them in iso for a while, and then drying them out? Would the AC replacement coils at planetvape would work in either the orb cannon or the glass globe?

Yes, you can clean the coils this way. I suggest exchanging the isopropyl alcohol until it stays clear, then rinse with distilled water and let dry at least 12 hours in a warm place.

The AC coils here will fit the Alpha Centauri and Oil Vaporizers' Alpha Globes. These coils cannot be used in any Orb Cannon or Standard Globe kit as each of those systems take their own coils only. These are 3 distinctly different atomizer systems with 3 different types of threadings and housings.

The Unimizer/Atmos Kiln/DT 2.5 all apparently use some type of glue. Does the Alpha's 1701 use any glue or solder? Is the housing made of stainless steel?

The Kiss Alpha 1701 is the original Ceramic doughnut that the others have repackaged.

In other words No.

The 1701 is fully rebuildable for the Alpha, no glue what so ever.

This is what is inside.

What you will get on the OV site is similar unit that is not rebuildable but still no glue.

I was about to buy a unimizer, but Sam steered me away and over towards 1701. I know it's a small thing, but w9 stuff makes me feel a lot more secure than a lot of the pen gear out there.

I thought I would chime in with my OilVaporizer and W9Tech buying and use experience.
I purchased an Alpha Globe and a 5 pack of dual TiGr2 coils after much research and deliberation based mainly on info coming through these forums.

The good news is the coils work great! I run them at 6.5 volts on my iStick 50 (which has power to spare and absolutely great battery life---4400mah) and they melt anything and everything I can fit in there. Wax, crumble, shatter---poof! I have not yet tried the single coil that comes with the globe by default.

The bad news....the globe glass is very thin...too thin for my liking. I broke the first one within 5 minutes and had to order another. I went ahead and ordered two @4.99 each plus shipping==$19 sumthin... That is too expensive for this glass. If anyone at OilVaporizer is paying attention, I have noticed that W9Tech has a borosilicate globe for the smaller Kiss Globe @ $19.99. I would pay a similar price for a thick borosilicate piece for the Alpha Globe. Make it happen! A metal sleeve would be nice, even a simple straight tube with a swaged mouth piece or a separate drip tip. It doesn't have to be fancy like the Alpha Centauri kit.... Just make something better than the standard glass and give a reasonable price and I'll buy it. I think others would too. As it is, I'm considering having a custom piece made here in Oregon...(big glassblowing community).

I ordered the 1701 (rebuildable) from W9tech and noticed at the time that they were running a promotion wherein if you spent $10 with them, they would send you a free Omicron V2.5 vaporizer. That sounded interesting, so I went ahead and ordered the coil and asked for a blue vaporizer if they had one. They were very clear that the vaporizer they were sending was just a body...no battery, no charger, no atomizer, no box, etc.....

So, the box shows up and it's bigger than expected, kinda heavy too...at least for the one coil it's supposed to have in it along with an empty vape tube. Well, under the packing peanuts and the lone coil was a white box and imagine my surprise upon opening it and the first thing to fall out is a battery charger...next is a hinged, padded box containing one battery, one blue vaporizer, one funnel, one mouthpiece and one atomizer....A full complete kit! And it qualifies for the v4 upgrade available at the end of March!

The 1701 works great, I run it at 10 watts (Thats what DT insists is appropriate) and it just sizzles everything into smoke! It is a little harder to load because of the hole in the middle of the donut...you have to be a little careful in order to keep stuff from melting in to it but I have no complaints. When I participate in the v4 upgrade, I'll buy another 1701 and a pack of the donuts to rebuild them with.

Well, that's it for now, If anyone reading this has had doubts about doing business with either company, put them aside and get in the game.

Has anyone tried the quartz dual coil with the Alpha globe? I'm pretty curious to how they work compared to the ceramic wicks.
Thank you [=

help me decide what to order.

I don't care for the look of the glass globe style heads.
I like the taste of the ceramic donut in The Unimizer/Atmos Kiln/DT 2.5 over the taste of the exposed wire coil type heads i have tried. (although i haven't tried any with the dark ceramic wick)
i want to power it with my istick tc40w
I'm thinking i should try a 1701.

i'm having some trouble with their site.

I've tried the dual coil quartz rods. This is largely a matter of personal preference but I happen to prefer the porous ceramic wicks since they can hold oil and wick it to the heating wire, while the quartz rods are not porous.

I apologize for the difficulties on the website. Did you send an email to support@oilvaporizer.com ? What type of device were you using the access the site, a PC, Mac, cell phone, tablet? What page caused this error to occur?

If you don't care for the look of a glass globe have you considered W9 Tech's Alpha Centauri system? It takes the same coils as Oil Vaporizer's Alpha Globe system, and comes with 3 atomizers including a user-rebuildable 1701 wicked ceramic donut and includes a discreet cover along with its glass globe.

Last tidbit for this Friday is that I've completed a cartridge cleaning guide to answer our most commonly asked question, "How do I clean my coils?" It applies to all of our Cannacig cartridges, Prime Oil Cartridges, and Globe coils. Please give me your feedback and let me know if the guide needs to cover anything else!

The quartz gets hotter quicker on lower watts/volts and the coils are smaller and deeper. I prefer the ceramic ones myself. It holds onto wax better and has bigger coils. I think it's easier to burn on the quartz too. Or maybe I'm just not used to them.
