No Editing Old Posts?

Why can't one edit an old post? Can one request a post be deleted or edited? Also, how long does it take for a new post to expire into an uneditable post?

You have 6 hours from what I hear to edit or change your posts. After that they lock to you and can only be edited or changed by a moderator. Sometimes if you ask nicely they will edit a post for you. I do not think they make a habit of deleting old posts, unless it is a duplicate or in direct violation of the rules.

One of the reasons we don't allow old posts to be edited or deleted is because it will leave empty holes in a thread, or if they have been responded to, posts that are senseless.

There are times that mod will change a post for you. Depends on the reason.
