New to vaping and everything else. As a never smoked or inhailed anything in her life (except occasional lavender oil from a candle diffuser :p ) where should I start reading for what to expect when vaporizing? I do have asthma but its mainly smoke/perfume triggered (even making toast that gets a little too brown) so im hoping vaping will agree with my sensitive lungs.

Currently am looking at the Solo as my first. Desktop isn't a good fit for me right now and the solo seems to get good reviews for beginners and I like the temp control option.

My main questions are things like which is easier on a newbie bud, PG/VG, oil, wax, keif, shatter, etc....?

A few things to keep in mind. Nausea control is the main concern, then its a tie for pain and insomnia. Mood lift would be a plus but im a control freak who doesn't like the idea of being "giggle by bleep off" high. I don't have a lot to spend though I have been saving up. Past vape budget for medicinals is $80 max this month and it would be nice to try a variety of items.

I know its a lot to ask any help appreciated. Links, articles, threads to review all fine by me :) TIA <3 GenYHippie

It would be great if you could try vaping before buying, esp. with a limited budget. Being you're in So Cal,
maybe you could find a member who would let you try a vape and a few strains?

The Solo would suit your needs. I think you don't need to look further than that.

There is a thread about Nausea in the medicinal section. ;)

I agree. The Solo is a good deal and you won't be out of pocket for much if you decide you don't like vaping. I'd start with some bud and then work your way from there. Keep it simple and have fun.

Goo point I didnt think of that. I am in a fairly small conservative area so it didn't cross my mind. I will add that to the memory bank if I decide to upgrade or get a desktop model :).

Thank you. I did end up getting desperate yesterday and went ahead and ordered the solo. Should be here by end of week I hope. I have been working my way through the nausea thread, currently on page 11 :)

Glad to hear a made a good pick for a first timer! Thanks for the well wishes

If you have sensitive lungs you may want to consider hooking a vaporizer up to a glass bong for moisture conditioning. However, that can always be implemented after the fact.

Definitely would want to start with buds..
Try to aim for fresh material but not necesarrily super strong. A newbie does not need topshelf, but with unfresh cheap buds there's the issue of mold growth. Definitely don't want to be vaping moldy herb. Everyone's inhaled a few spores now and then so it's not a big deal. Still something to consider.

Feel free to send me a PM if you're near SD & wanted to try vaporizing before a big purchase.

edit: ah I see you already ordered the solo. I paid more for a textbook this semester than the cost of a solo so in the big picture it's not all that big of a purchase anywho.

+1 for all the comments on the Solo above! Great starter unit that can still serve the experienced! Temp control! (Oh, and I love mine!)

In regards to the nausea control, pain, and insomnia, sounds like you could use a good Indica strain. Start lower temps, as they may be more acceptable to your lungs, then work up in levels/temps on the unit slowly so you can gauge your response. The higher temps hold a lot of the relief you seek, but at the cost of a bit harsher vapor.

Hi SD haze. Thanks for the tip. I will look around but the solo was already outside my price range I had to borrow a little to be able to get it plus some materials. I figure I better get out the old fashioned room humidifier maybe it can make up the difference if I sit next to it after vaping.

Right now I have a fraction of a gram of strawberry kough since that's what the first dispensary recommended. Yes I am extra careful about mold as I have an allergy. I can tell when the shower needs good bleaching even before you can see it. Hives, coughing, runny nose whole deal :(.

I have family just outside of SD in two directions so if im down that way I surely will :) thank you! Yes ive paid worse for books as well but you don't have to buy anything to load book hahaha. I figured in the long run its worth the investment and faster acting than an edible.

DDave glad to know another solo fan :) thanks for sharing. Thank you for the advice. I seems to keep getting conflicting info (granted most of it is theoretical from people who haven't dealt with chronic nausea) some say a hit of high THC keif fixes them up before a meal other say indica but or edible. Very confusing....but im reading, learning, and thankful for the help :).

Just going to jump in here too ... Solo is an excellent first option, and it also suits what you've described. Good choice! (The Solo is probably the most reliable and versatile vape on the market in many ways IMHO)
