been following this from the start. Sure looks good!

Dan, where are you shipping from? Myself, being in Spain, am afraid shipping costs and almost certain an extra charge from customs if it comes from outside Europe might make it a tad to expensive...

Keep doing what you are doing!

Awesome comparison between the two man, pretty much perfectly described the "behavior" of the Milaana. Damn you pick up vapes quick, I already knew you were a pro with convection though listening to you describe the behavior of your vape and speeding up draws and avoiding combustion and all that fun stuff. Super entertaining to watch man, keep up the great work!

@Summer I saw slightly stoopid live on NYE. (just adding that in cuz I saw the pic on that video lol)

Wouldn't have the opportunity to learn it if you never sent me yours, thanks again man!

Sure it can, turn the phone sideways and ensure autorotate is enabled.

@supershredderdan the site looks good man, so do the pics.

Do you have a rough ETA for shipping?

Right now if everything goes according to plan (which it probably won't) we should start shipping units in July. Not a guarantee by any means but that's the goal we have set for ourselves. The biggest question mark right now is lead time for packaging, but we have started talks with a source that looks to be a good fit, more info TBA

Shipping out of North Carolina, USA. preorders are 80 flat and shipping cost will be invoiced when your unit is ready to ship. If you want to PM your address I can try to calculate an estimate for you.

Dan, it would be good to list the measurements of the cartridge & the glass stem (which are the ones I want to know). Is the mp proprietary or did you purchase it in the open marketplace?

I am getting excited about this vape.

What i am hoping for - splinter / tubo performance but more durable because its metal. Replaceable coils - so things can be tinkered with. That alone makes this a very interesting prospect.

This is where the furure of vapes is at in my opinion, rather than keep rehashing old designs. I hope that stempod is the sucess that it deserves to be. If nothing else @supershredderdan is at least trying to move the industry along in the right direction with an original design.

Not tried this vape but hope everyone gets on the bandwagon. Trying to further the industry should be celebrated.

A question. You can build your own coils for the stempod right? How much height clearance do u have? Do they have to be flat coils or can u make something like the coil used in the project?

How are the preorders going?

Rebuild Coils can be vertical or horizontal but shouldn't extend past the height of the posts. Couldn't make something just like the project with a single large spiral but you could install up to 4 vertical coils for a similar solution. Preorders are going alright, got about 15 so far .Tell your friends!

@supershredderdan have u considered getting some stempods in to reviewers hands to drum up publicity? Seems to work with other vendors

Yes! And perhaps to differentiate, Dan @supershredderdan I would start with a few beta testers who are hard core vaporists and not close friends. Standard practice really. This end user input could prove invaluable preproduction.

All the best to you Dan!

I'm a hard core user and friends with a lot of these guys. I don't think that friendship has ever gotten in the way of keeping it real with the makers. I also purchase 99% of the units I beta test. The only exception is if I am asked to provide feedback on something I'm not really interested in. Just sayin.

If you're ever near wilmington hit me up, I only have the 2 stempod prototypes at the moment but we can sesh and brainstorm for sure. The first batch should arrive all at once (economies of scale and whatnot) so reviewer units and preorders should go out around the same time. We plan to set aside a few pre-dialed in kits (stempod + evic with custom fw) for reviewers and online retailers and sell the first batch of attachments through the site.

Hi Dan,

What's the custom firmware you refer to?

Are there any custom features or is it more a case of ArcticFox with specific TC tunings?

Really looking forward to trying out the StemPod.

Thanks

I wasn't clear. And you have done great things testing RBT vapes for example.

What I meant was don't have your beta testers be 'yes men.'

Yep. And even more importantly the manufacturer has to be open to the criticism. I have had a few where I basically gave up because they have been so close minded about it. Those were some interesting discussions.

got the ok from @funkyjunky to use his firmware as a base and tweak it for StemPod specifically. once we sell through the first batch we will introduce some kits with preinstalled firmware so people can be ready to go out of the box.

inventor/entrepreneur types view their products as their babies, and often take criticism personally. I try not to be like that but that can be one of the pitfalls of being passionate about what you do. Criticism just means there's an opportunity to make things better than they are, and as a creator that's what we exist for. Just some hazy thoughts on the subject, i think a lot of it comes down to both parties having the same priorities when discussing design trade offs and preferences.

Very cool.

This is very true, it also comes down to the expectations and vape style of those testers. To properly understand the feedback you have to profile the testers and understand their perspective.
  • Are they users with high tolerance and high usage patterns or low frequency micro dosers
  • Are they flavour chasers, cloud chasers or somewhere inbetween
  • Are they using TC or Watts or both
  • Are they likely to be swapping coils often or infrequently (some people like to customise others just want a plug and play experience)
  • Are they running natively or through a water tool
  • Are they using mods that can be flashed (eVic, wisemec, etc...) or DNA based mods
  • Are they using mods with stock firmware
  • Are they running on stock settings or custom settings (resistance, tcr values, etc...)
All of the above will affect the users/testers experience and will be important to ascertain in order to address certain issues and feedback points raised.

here are the 2 mods that i currently use:

http://squidvape.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=1707 squid 2.1 double barrel...wattage only

http://www.gtrstech.com/Product/view/id/780.html gtrs vboy 200...wattage and temp

Interesting looking mods.

I like the look of the squid one, however there are no details about resistance (ohm's) support so it's hard to tell if it would be compatible or not. I'm not saying it won't work just can't confirm it will.

The other mod (grstech) should be fine. I've not personally used a mod with a YiHi chip set but I have heard good things. From what I've read they are comparable to DNA based mods which are considered top tier.
