MiniVAP Vaporizer

No, the metal liner is the "decarbox ring" accessory. The stock chamber liner is white teflon.
I cannot find the price of the decarb ring as it must be out of stock, so not currently listed but I
think it was $30 or more. You need to disassemble your chamber and install this in place of it.

I think the stock system is superb, no need for this. but some opt to have it...
One should probably try stock first and then decide.

I paid US $43.90 for mine. I see as you said it's out of stock @ Hermes.

It's made of 304 stainless steel. One ring is 14mm and the other 2mm height wise....just like the stock teflon version. I posted exact circumference and thickness in an earlier post using digital calipers along with links where to purchase so one could make their own for fraction of cost....and probably cut some for fellow FC MiniVap forum members (hint hint)

I asked that question to owners of both vaporizers, never gotten a straight answer.

I have a Crafty on the way. I bought from a vendor who was willing to give a small but appreciated discount but is still waiting for stock. I have no problem giving a straight up gut opinion when I get it.

Has anyone had any luck contacting Hermes regarding a defective units? I have tried on a number of occasions to fill out their warrantee claims page on their site but never got a reply or acknowledgment of my messages. It has been going on for months now and I have been left with out a functioning unit. I'm a medical patient as well so I Kind of needed something reliable, its only reason I forked out the massive price tag.
Any help guys would be greatly appreciated.

@Toolbox Can the vendor you purchased from be of any help?

mighty then mini:)

You were asked and you answered. I admit that I like what the Mighty allows with temperature control.

They both seem so close. So much so that it would be redundant to own both, for me at least. If I were in the market now in this Home portable category and was looking for a strictly dry vape I'd pick the Mighty. If I wanted dry and liked using water tools it would be the Minivap in a heart beat.

With that said, I sure hope the Crafty I have coming makes me as happy as you are with the Mighty.

I haven't tried a Mighty or Crafty but I'm not sure they are as comparable to the MV as several members have suggested.

Assuming that vapor quality is the same or similar (appears that way from what I've read here), the designs are still fundamentally quite different and I think each have their own unique advantages. For example, the Mighty appears to be more pocketable and possibly easier to use while out and about (definitely the Crafty), it utilizes a nifty little unit to cool the vapor, offers more control over temperature, and from what I've read, a less restricted draw. Meanwhile the MV is incredibly easy to keep clean, works seamlessly with a water tool (and very well indeed), can be plugged into a wall outlet directly without involving the battery, and doesn't require the user to send their vaporizer away for service when the battery fails.

I'm sure I will end up buying a Mighty at some point, probably next year, but for now seriously all I want is a working miniVAP!

Both seem like great units. Mighty vs miniVAP
Besides what's been said above:
- if battery life is very important = miniVAP as it appears it will have Mighty beat by a long shot. Plus, you could get a spare battery for even more time, which you can't on the Mighty.

- maintenance/cleaning: from early pics of the Mighty chamber, the miniVAP stays cleaner much much longer.

- if you'd also like a portable you can plug in to AC at home = only miniVAP offers that

- I do like the exact temp control on the Mighty but 3 heat choices on the mV are really enough.
- the Mighty digital readout is cool

- I really like my vapes to be able to stand up and the Mighty cannot do that reliably.
- loading your herbs easily. The Mighty which cannot stand up and uses that loading chamber and you need the whole unit to load vs the mV where you can load your "basket module" separate from the unit and you can get extra flexicone and basket to make extra preloaded modules.
- miniVAP basket modules are the sweetest thing ever for many reasons. For a water piece. you can start with straight draws at low temp and move to bubbler in LESS than 5 seconds.
- Mighty probably gets up to temp quicker.

Both are great, it depends on your use and whatis important (or not important) to you on their
respective features/ pluses and minuses.

Best comparison between the two that I have read.
That's why I went with the mini, I think I made the right choice for my needs, not saying the Mighty won't be a possibility in the future.

I was short here in my earlier response, but I posted these comparison points in the Mighty thread.

Mini
- Modular design. Part replacement cost are high. Eg: battery is $109
- Taste/smoothness top notch
- Versatile. With that I mean it's as easy to use with a WT as using it dry. Hooking it to a bubbler for an example is quick and easy.
- Four heat settings. More would be better, but it covers most's range of usage.
- Build quality
- Warranty
- Medicating. The strongest of the vapes I own by far.
- Pure convection. It truly is a bud miser
- Portability. Not so much on the go if any type of discretion is required. Definitely not pocketable.
- Battery life is almost 3 hours usage
- Cleanliness. For the most part, there is nothing to clean.
- Heat up time. Little long, but worth the wait.

Mighty
- Semi modular. Getting a replacement battery for an example will be a PIA
- From all accounts, the taste is right up there with the best from early reports.
- Great for dry usage. Not so much with water. That can be good/bad depending on intended usage.
- Like my Ascent, the plethora of heat settings is very appealing.
- Build quality
- Warranty
- Medicating. If it's on par or better than the mini.....we have a winner
- Portability. It's big, but appears pocketable. Again, if discretion is needed, forget about it
- Battery life seems awesome
- Cleanliness wise it seems to need upkeep
- Heat up time seems excellent
- Hybrid convection/conduction. Probably won't be the bud miser the mini is.

I think you have to pull a little more volume on the minivap because it's almost pure convection, to get the load at high temperature and shoot a big quantity of vapor. It's very easy to do with glass attachments but not really without.

It may be harder to do with the MV stock mouthpiece system because there is no cooling or diffusion at all, so the vapor gets too hot/irritating to get big clouds out, when the s&b portables both have built in diffusers and coolers that allow the user to pull smoothly and that might explain the difference in the videos of dry usage with the stock mouthpiece, it's a great system.

We have to request a dry cooling diffuser extension from Hermes ! That should not be very complicated to make at all. Something to screw on the top in place of the flat one, where the vapor would take some kind of Z shaped tunnel. I'm sure they have something in the drawers.

Almost there...
The past few days I have quite disappointed with my MV a.
I have been very busy doing home reno's and have not been able to devote the time I usually would to my MV ritual.

The flavor was not there, the taste was poor and thclouds were almost non existent. WTF!!!
So I switched back to using Herbie for a few days.
Not the same in any way but I did love the quick heat up and massive clouds that tasted great for the first hit. I also noticed that the medicated effect was quite different and did not last me as long.

I am now in a hotel room relaxing after being in a conference for the whole day!!
Brought the MV with to try and figure out what was going on.

As it turns out, if you treat the MV correctly, it will always reward you with the desired results and effects!!!
This is a Vape that does not like to be rushed!!
Just because the light is solid green does not always mean it is ready!

I turned the MV on and left it alone for about 10 minutes, wanted to make sure it had time to heat up correctly.
Loaded a small basket into the flexicone, capped it and attached my small glass straw.
First hit I was rewarded with delicious, thick tasty vapor!!!
Finished two small baskets and then watched "How it's made", fascinating stuff!!

Lesson learned!!
Respect the MV and it will reward you!!

Ps- not thinking about the Crafty anymore!!!!
It's all MV!!!

Someone asked.. (sorry messed up. The quote system)
Does anyone pre-heat their MV before starting a session?

Always. Like Lazylathe said. The MV ain't a dog sled. Can't :whip:and expect her to dance.. Don't get me wrong she'll give but not as much as if left to stew for a bit.

@ShayWhiteGrow Awesome videos!!!
Really liked the "WHOOAA" In the MV one! Thought i was the only one that made that sound on occasion ..

I thought this was the universal involuntary sound great quality vape makes as your body fights not to let go of it. I always breathe out nice and slow. Let the cloud envelop me.

My cheap China glass bubbler came with an 18/18 adapter, glass nail and dome.
I use the 18/18 adapter and the flexicone sits In there perfectly.

Yeah but I've had a good few standard 18s that fit just fine.. But I also started out my MV usage using a low profile 18 to 14 reducer. Until I found all the arizer goodies I already owned were adaptable. Now my nectary goodness is so very easily harvested.

And welcome to the club @mestizo

There are two types of water tool methods, that I use.
1. remove the wire basket module and drop into a bubbler 14 mm female.
Invert mV onto the basket and enjoy

For those that might not wish to invert/hold the mV (for whatever reason)
2. use an adapter hose where the tube end can slip over the 2" hard mouthpiece
and the other end is a 14 mm male glass piece that fits into bubbler.
See pic and part available at VaporNation:
It has a nice wood piece, just above the 14 mm glass for easier use/ nicer look and feel

Note: my bubbler "intake" is right in the middle of the piece, points straight up so inverting the mV
is easy as you really just set it on and balance it. If you have a water piece where the intake is off to the side/ does not point straight up/ where resting the weight of the mV may disturb the balance,
then the MF Whip may be a better option.

Personal preference between the two methods

This. It took me a bit to figure out the idiosyncrasies myself. The light bulb went off when I couldn't finish a basket. When I came back and finished it off and left the Mini on while I filled another basket and started another session I noticed how quickly the thick tasty vapor came.

Lesson learned is right!

Hi, there is a third way to connect it to a WT, I used a short piece of silicone tubing which fit around the short black ring around the cap's hole and I connected a broken 14mm mâle glass joint to it...imo it's the better way for compromise between taste/convenience (imo a silicone tubing like you use is really bad for taste...), after some months of heavy use my short silicone connect don't stay in place on the MV so I just put it on my WT and I connect the MV to it easily for a hit!

I tried all this three ways and this one is my favourite!
