Hello there guys, my father just let slip that my mother is planning a family vacation soon. I guess for most people; this would be good news but really I hate vacations. Being uprooted for a week and leaving all of things I love and work towards does not seem like a good time to me. But of course I'm really weird in general so it's probably just me. I mean I do my best to have a good time and all but I just don't find it fun.

The worst part is that it basically means a forced T-Break unless I can devise a relatively safe solution for bringing a vaporizer and consumables across the border and back. In the past I have been an exclusively herb based vaporist, and it's simply far to risky to bring even small amounts of buds over the boarder on the rare chance we get spot searched.

In the past little while I've really been getting into concentrates, but my methods are crude and I've found it impossible to achieve the pure amber oils people enjoy here so far. At the moment my product usually comes out as a buddery wax, and always gives a little sizzle and sputter when I put it on my Ti. I think that my problem is my vacuum pump, as it only pumps up to ~24hg before maxing out on me.

Anyways, I have two questions here. The first is if there are any concentrate vapes on the market out there that will work with the buddered up BHO that I'm currently making. I've looked into the revolution and it seems that might work but I would like to hear some other opinions. The other is, why is all of my oil coming out like this? I vacuum purge for hours but it still waxes up. Could it be the pump just can't supply enough of a vacuum? I'd like to figure out how to make pure oils, it opens up a lot more in the way of options for vapes.

I've pretty much quit the concentrate game ( at least those made with chemical solvents), but I used to be really into making bho. You can make perfectly good oil without a vacuum, so that's not really your issue. I used a hand powered vacuum pump, which combined with the altitude, was only able to pull about 19hg, but I still managed to get clear oil 90% of the time. It sounds like you may need to increase your purge temp. Try popping the purge dish into your oven at 170 F for 10-15 min or until it stops bubbling. Also, if your oil isn't warm, then the vacuum will have practically no effect (the oil should visibly expand as you decrease pressure). If you're unable to reach a satisfactory level of purity, then I suggest looking into the absolute/ dual solvent method; there's a thread on here about it, and you should find it much easier to create an amber shatter.

Also, why can't you use the wax you're currently making in a vape?

Well I currently don't own any vapes made for concentrates specifically and I imagine most of the oil vapes, being designed for actual oils, would have issues with the solid wax I've got. Is that not the case?

Depending on where you're going, might be able to buy some at the place and just bring the vaporizer.

Not an option, it would be Florida. I will have to bring the product and the vape.

I'm leaning towards the rev because it basically seems to be a mobile dabbing rig, as opposed to the other cartridge/wicking systems that most others have. As well I could get the AVA Atty for it and that provides a good cover for it's real use.

I believe there are several Florida based FCers. I don't think it is allowed to ask people for help finding a dealer via the forum, but you could always do some networking & see where that takes you.

I've recently gotten myself a Gnome for such occasions btw, but I must admit I still haven't used it enough to know what's what so I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending it just yet.

Most vapes will work with most types of concentrates with the cotton ball method, although I prefer a bed of herb instead myself if that's available (never a problem where I'm at).

    Also;

It shouldn't make a difference whether you have wax or clear shatter (both will melt down). Anyways, runny oil is much more difficult to make; I was never able to figure out how. You can vape bho in your flight box if you want, just check this thread out. You could also look into an atmos raw, which works very well for concentrates.

As for mostly quitting concentrates, it's really just a matter of preference. I just prefer vaping over dabbing, simply for the taste. Most of the concentrates around here are made with trim which = bad taste. The only bho I would consider switching back to, is this dispensary made lemon og; the best tasting weed product I've had, but also costs a ridiculous 70 bucks a gram.

alot of people travel with the coil vapor genie because its easy to take apart and put back together.

also cleaning is simple from what i understand.

    good luck! be careful.

That is a good idea, but the coil vaporgenie needs a bong does it not? I'm definitely not going to bring that across the border. As well I've used my flight box for herb so it will be tainted with resin and such and is also not an option.

I'm looking for something that will pass for an e-cig, so the atmos raw might be a good idea. Especially because they are so cheap. I'm thinking I'm going to pick up a unit off of eBay to test with and if it works well I'll pick up a spare heating chamber/mouthpiece to bring across the border with me. It's cheap enough that I wouldn't feel too bad leaving it or sending it off to a stateside FCer after the two weeks is up.

I am going to be extremely careful. The concentrate I am bringing will be vacuum sealed, and placed in a special location where it can not be found. The device I bring with me will be totally clean and will have e-juice in it in while I'm crossing the border so I can demonstrate it's legal purpose. In the past I have gone without because it was just too dangerous to bring herb, but now that I am familiar with concentrates it is finally an option to bring a small amount across with me.

the coil doesnt need a water tool as far as i know. it probably wont work well for your application, but thought it was worth mentioning in case you liked the idea and went another route.

its considerably cheaper and might work ok with dry concentrates but i really dont have any expreience with it. just my OG vaporgenie

If you have a stash location, why can you not just put a glass mason jar wrapped in a cloth (so it doesn't crack/make noise) in said location? Zero smell escapes mason jars.

If for some reason they have a k9 there they can smell it. Disagree with the 'zero smell escapes mason jars'.

I have had problems with the concentrate I make from ABV wash. It would clog up the REV and DART really quick. I have started using Kanger 2 ohm cartos with the inside packing removed. I get from NicFitNation here. 5 for $10 so can't go wrong. Once they gum or burn out I just reclaim and move on. If on holidays just throw away when dry. To load I just let 5-6 drops melt down the side to the bottom. A little help with the lighter. After about 10 pulls keep adding 3 - 4 drops to keep from running dry. Store vertically til it cools down. Also, after done I continue to pull cool air through for a bit to help keep from clogging as concentrate cools down.
Much easier if you are an ecig user as you could just use you same battery.

I have some friends who've taken concentrates on a plane and their method was to take a container of facial cream/lip balm/ petroleum jelly, remove the product, then place the bho inside. They would then conceal the concentrate by replacing a layer of the lip balm/cream on top.

I think concentrates are the best bet for abroad vaping, my solution travelling from the UK to the European continent was to bring homemade BHO, safely tucked away in my boxer shorts and then vaporize it a la crack pipe style at the other end. In a pinch you can feel like a total junkie and vaporize it on foil. Hot knives also work (though hot spoon are better). These are very cheap disposable options, I understand if you want something a little more e cig like and discrete.
In Europe I no longer worry about planes, I've taken weed/hash from Amsterdam and to and from Spain several times, not saying its a good idea, I wouldn't risk it in America personally but I've never had any trouble. Always tucked into my boxer shorts, I would never put anything in my suitcase or hand luggage.
Been to enough raves/festivals to know that dogs aren't always as good as their made out to be.
