Ok, played hooky this afternoon so I could swing home and pick up my Lil' Bud before the game tonight.

First impressions only, this is from two stems......

Very light
Powerful heater, but easily controlled
Love all the details and craftsmanship, wish there was a storage place for the safety tab

I got a hit from the first try, just need to dial it in. I got a hit whether I sucked hard, easy or sipped it. She's a keeper.

Pictures, videos and a review in a week or so. This will be my only driver while we get acquainted, then I'll give up the goods!

Thanks for the kind words and honest feedback. While not ideal, you can drop the tab in the battery compartment. I do need to take time to develop this idea, possibly a right angle tab as well.

So...the post arrived today. A friend of mine here on the forum got to the point where he had too many vapes, and offered me his Lil' Bud. I said yes. And today the Lil' Bud arrived.

@Bravesst I love it. I hope you're okay that I have the first 'after-market' Lil' Bud (I think).

I can't get over how great it tastes, how cool the vapor is, and how well made and designed the Lil' Bud is. And Bud is one handsome little fella. The woodwork is exceptional and I love that I can tell it's made by hand. It's what I love about wood. There is so much skill involved when creating functional art.

I started vaporizing flower full-time last November. The 13th if I recall. I learned very quickly that I am someone who is best served by un-regulated, on-demand vaporizers. I also discovered that I have a strong aversion to plastic. I like to micro-dose. I discovered the 'craft' wooden vaporizers in December and it was an aha moment.

Today was another aha moment. I cannot get over how cool the vapor path is with such a short stem. And the flavor from first to last draw is better than anything I've tasted; except for that time when I almost combusted, but that's on me.

I've discovered I do better when I focus on the button and draw/taste and play the carb above the button by feel. I nearly combusted when I was focusing too much on the carbs and neglected the button.

Mike posted a list of things this vaporizer ticks off, and I couldn't agree more. It is the perfect hand-held, portable, all-wood on-demand un-regulated vaporizer I could imagine.

I'm not sure which batch mine came from, but mine is Walnut body with cherry button/heating element section. And the stems appear to be Maple and Cherry, but I'm not sure. But every bit of it is stunning.

If anyone has seen my guitars in my videos or website you know that I love simple yet elegant designs. Wood doesn't need to be dressed up with paint or inlay, or even carving. If wood is well worked it stands perfectly on its own. One of the reasons I love this Lil' Bud is that my favorite guitar has Walnut back and sides and a Cherry Neck with Maple & Cherry in the Rosette of a Redwood top. They will pair nicely in the studio.

This device will be well-loved and well taken care of, and given how sturdy it is taking care of it is going to be easy.

Great job Mike.

Here's that guitar I was talking about.

Nice ! Good to see some people who share my observations!

@Fat Freddy , 6 strings doesn't mention or compare being a class act i suppose , nor is he JillNYC whom you look forward to hear from, but , he has a Milaana !

Congrats to @beyond6strings , @kaisersosay415 , and @MonkeyTime especially, for playing hooky to try his new vape before the game! Happy you are all enjoying the LB.

My lil bud is waiting for me at home!!! I'll get to meet her after work tonight, about 10am eastern. So jazzed. Cant wait to be done working...
Ah man, feeling your pain, that's going to be a long night, wish it goes fast for you !

@beyond6strings , nice score from your friend plus the Lil ' Bud found a good home, it's a good ending story :) no shame in having lucked out on the first after market. Keep playing and vaping , remember to come out of the studio sometimes!

In general i think we are showered with all kinds of vapes, some own many and still seek more , it is an evolving market after all. A hunt for the best vape almost . It's possible some won't like the LB but the LB's 10 facts are there and are hard to deny . I triple or quadruple that 10 highlights/facts comment ! I doubt they will be in classified for long when they do happen to show up , whatever the reasons of parting with.

Any LB wood porn to share anyone ? I'm not tired of seeing mine , just want a peak at others

First I have to say that I'm blown away by the support here. I love the lack of hypey bs that pervades this thread. You guys honestly seek a vape that *checks your boxes*, and LB was made to do just that.

I've been playing with micro dosing and not stirring. I probably could stir once, but ABV is dark, and I just let it go. I haven't weighed the load, but just enough to cover the screen with about the thickness of a dime. This is a very practical way to vape - super efficient.

Today, I'll continue with batch 4. Time to round edges, cut groove for back plate, and another critical task, cut out for the switchbox. This is an area where I am trying to improve the process to reduce the amount of hand fitting that needs to be done, potentially saving lots of time. The cutout and switchbox itself are both created on the tablesaw. Today, for the first time, I'd like to try a dado stacked blade to create the cut out. My goal is to go from saw to fit with very little sanding, filing, chiseling, which can take lots of time. This is an area where I can really shave some hours, and produce more Lil' Buds in less time, making lots more people happy.

For those curious, I just updated the website with this.

@P.A.M. I do indeed. And I love it, and it has its place now as a concentrate device. The glass stems and liquid pads I use as screens make it a no-brainer.

But for flower? The Lil' Bud is just better for me. And I love the battery design and carbs. The woodworking is up a notch-the wood is smoother and it's just a done better all the way around.

I love the all-wood no adhesives aspect. The screens are so much more manageable. Maybe because of the wood, maybe because of more standard specs/build, but regardless easier to use. The older you get the more 'easy' matters. And I love Walnut more than Maple visually-it's just more interesting to me, so I like that aspect too. It suits my eye, my hand, and the way I vaporize.

Just got mine in my happy hands. Jazz hands. ! Went and bought some freshy batteries and put em on to charge. Oh shit I got Sony v C t 6... If this isn't t a good battery to use y all got to tell me. Oh boy this lil bud vape is beautiful and smooth and so light yet not-flimsy feeling. In the hand. Light yet solid. Mines all cherry and it's f,ng amazing looking. Feels real good in my hand. Do y'all push button with ring finger? )))))))))))) anyway I'll have a better feel for this absolutely stunning amazing hand made vape after I actually use it.. Thanks Mike, I'll put a small "review" here after i get it dialed in. Cheers to Mike and everyone!! D.:science::wave::tup:

Do y'all push button with ring finger?

I use my Fuck Combustion Finger ! use my index for carb. You could easily use ring finger , whatever feels right to you I'd say.

I don't know about the Sony battery, is it a 18650 cell? I'll double check it think it's alright. If it fits , let her rip ! Careful all the same . Congrats on your new Lil' Bud!

Carb hole doesn't affect overall performance, it works as good not using it like it perhaps adds a bit of control if playing with it, same for draw speed or resistance, it's work either you pull lightly or hard. You self adjusts not realizing it . I sometimes find my abv lighter , I give a stronger pull and it darkens, fooling myself in thinking something might be wrong with my batteries. One cell seems more powerful then my other 3 though but maybe that was just me drawing faster that day with said battery. Or maybe my cheap charger again , I recommend buying a good charger , even if I don't have one myself !

I am super jazzed about batch 4. Just like batch 3, I'm keeping up with the cosmetics, sanding and filing as I go, so when I reach the end, it's not an overwhelming task. I'm calling this batch 4, but it's actually batch 4 and 5. Once the woodwork is done, I'll set aside some units for batch 5.

My next step is a big one - cutout for the switchbox. I have a plan to make this much more of a manageable job. Literally, the fitting of the switchbox, is the most time consuming aspect of LB. If I can reel that in, I might be able to increase production by 25 percent, while improving build quality.

I have to thank @P.AM. for the microdose idea. I literally am not stirring, or twisting, or anything but vaping. I think I'm getting a five or six nice hits, more sips. The load dumps easily, nice dry even ABV. Vapor is quick (like 3 seconds). For now, this is my best way to use LB. Also very easy on the throat / lungs, nice low temp tasty hits.

Awesome , glad to hear! A little bud goes a long way in the Lil' Bud. I started microdosing not long after started vaping and realized the advantages soon after . Not just in conserving your herb but how the effects are much more defined and as long lasting.

I like microdosing with the LB, I rarely use more then +/- 0.04.

You seem to be getting the same performance as I am, 5-6 good hits with evenly roasted , dry abv. Smooth & tasty .

Edit: yup abv dumps very easily microdosing, I usually just give stem a flick of the finger to empty it .

@DirtyD , we posted at same time, sorry mate. Yeah it does get you high doesn't it?! Right on! How do you switch from sip to rip? draw speed, lenght, carb, feathering button? I do both but sometimes doubt my technique even if I'm ripped. It's very versatile , a all-around vape .

Don't have a lil bud yet but have been following along here.

Is there a spot you could put a magnet for the battery tab somewhere on the device? Just an idea.

The tab is wood so that it stops conducting electricity to the battery. And wood's not magnetic.

Whoops. Thought it was some type of metal from the video I saw recently.

Thank you.
You might be referring to the Stirring Tool that is made of metal , a "safety pin" used on clothes and many other things .

The battery "safety tabs" cN be either wood or plastic , it's purpose is to interupt the power circuit . similar in concept to the plastic thingy you remove from a newly acquired electronic or toy that came with batteries installed. It's what I was gonna do if none included . Mike came up with bright idea of incorporating a slot in the battery Lid to avoid having to open lid between sessions.

I suppose someone could always carry a few in the battery compartment, they are small and easy to replace if lost . A cut out piece from an old gift card could probably work and as. I wouldn't go thicker then that mind you

Hey All!!!

@P.A.M. @Alan makes some really cool adapters that would work there. I've never been a water guy, but I wanna try that set up!

Today I'm like a little kid on Christmas morning. I am excited to try my new switchbox cutout process - hopefully saving lots of fussing, and more importantly, time. I've been *practicing* what I'm gonna do over and over in my head (create in the mind first). Is it possible to go from machine to fit with only minimal work by hand? We shall find out today.

Battery Tabs
I've had some ideas, suggestions that I'm working on to improve the practicality of the tabs. They work really well as is, but my goal is to make everything a little better.

Batch 5
Sales continue to come in, batch 5 is filling up. Anyone thinking of buying an LB, I added another credit card option, not just PayPal. My preferred is PayPal, but people like choices.

Yeah I tried it last night after posting , had mixed results . I think I would need an adapter indeed, the glasspiece doesn't seem to vacuum enough pull from the wider diameter stem. I'd need a direct to vape setup. Might be me doing something wrong, I will give it a few more tries still. I was kinda of happy regardless because LB works great by itself, that's what I wanted!

The glasspiece is made for a Arizer vape I believe, I had bought it to fit on a Herbstick (which I barely used). Then I had figured out the glasspiece did work great on my vapcap and the only way I was able to get good enough "for me" performance out of vc.

The LB is the only vape i have touched since receiving it .

Wish your day in the shop is going well, very interesting to learn and follow how you ramp up production all while improving quality which is already present . Keep up the great work , Mike ! You definitely lead by example !

That is truly the best line ever...
*Don't buy this vape if you're afraid of getting too high*

With each new batch, I take a look at all my jig set ups. This time my little tweaks have paid off big time. The switchbox cutout, as well drilling out for mouthpiece and coil (4 holes, two from each side) have improved dramatically. I have 16 bodies completed in just 3 days.

Time to cut the actual switchbox, drill them out, and dare I say it, phase 2, pre-assembly. Leaving only coil forming, and final assembly / finish, which is going to go so much faster thanks to my off the saw fit on the switchbox.
